Do they know they are going to be referred to as baby mamma's/have their child called a bastard even for the sake of a joke? I'm not sure about most people, but I would refuse to have a child out of wedlock and even get an abortion if it came down to it.

I would want to be known as wife and mother, not baby momma with an illegitimate child. I know it's not the 1950s anymore, but it's way more common now to have a baby out of wedlock then to have children after marriage, or no marriage at all.

I was talking about this with my mother the other day after I brought up the fact that one of my old friends from high school had a baby with her boyfriend, and my mother laughed and said, "Yeah. That's almost expected in hetero relationships nowadays."

I really don't find myself disagreeing with her at all.
