The reason we say that is because of the number of women vs men doing herd thinking.

Take your fashion for example, who follows the latest trends more men or women. Go to any store and you will see women's choices in almost double the number of men. There are some men who blindly follow their favourite sportsstar or movie star but compare the numbers as to which gender does it more.

Yeah, people acting as if men are not susceptible are idiots. It is a human thing. That said, nature rarely does equal and women are clearly MORE inclined to this sort of thing. The literature backs this up. The degree and quality of difference is definitely a debatable point, though.

Most people are mostly agreeable, being that humans are social creatures; But women are more agreeable than men. This is why the consensus of major organs of power are adopted by women more readily than men. For example, back when religion actually mattered in the West, women were in fact more religious than men. And when women are heterodox, it is almost always the case they are in a relationship with a heterodox male.

This is also the actual reason why woman's suffrage is a thing. Contrary to popular belief, social consensus is more often imposed from the top down, not naturally emergent from the bottom up. For metapolitical organs, giving women the right to vote essentially cut in half the difficulty of imposing a public consensus. All the more easier if women are unmarried and are thus more likely to appeal to metapolitical power. Therefore, we have a sexual revolution that delays or eliminates married women. Every revolution is astroturfed folks. Every. Single. One.

In short, women are more conscious of and subordinate to social heuristics than men. This is because women are nessecarilly more pro-social than men, which is really what we mean by agreeable. Women cannot simply kill or threaten to kill people into compliance with them. Most men can't either, but they have enough physical prowress to at least attempt to ward off other humans that they can't get along with.

Men can risk social ostracization to a level that women can't afford. Nessecarilly, women needed to evolve to be more acutely aware of and drawn to anything that keeps them on the up and up socially. That means following the trends, going with the fads, and going all in on the zeitgeist.

Women on the other hand must be in compliance with power, whether that power is their social circle, the state or their provider(again, the sexual revolution was just an oligarchic power grab from commen men); And when it's time to eliminate a threat, they must convince others that their target is non-compliant. Hence gossip, virtue signaling, censorious behavior, shaming, moral busy-body i.e. Karen behavior. Yes. I know men do this. Women do it more often and more severely.

Supposedly, there was a study once that showed men with higher testosterone were more likely to have a dissenting opinion from a reported group consensus on a story, regardless of what consensus was reported to the subject. This suggests testosterone itself can actually promote contrarianism. Perhaps an inherent backstop against the dangers of group-think.

I’m going to give you the most compelling argument. Where does the advertising money go, and who is responsible for most consumer spending? Yes, both genders fall for social trends. But where does most social trend advertising go to? There wouldn’t be a disparity if there wasn’t a psychological difference.

Now, there isn’t anything inherently wrong with this (there may be things wrong with specific trends, but the act itself is something most humans engage in) - most people are conformists in so many ways and most people follow trends, what i am criticizing is this idea that women are somehow more susceptible or the idea that male thinking is at a higher frame of consciousness despite blindly following trends as well. It lacks self awareness.

While it's true both genders are susceptible trends/conformism/propaganda there's still a gendered asymmetry. If you look at any social or political group that's on the margins/extremes it's almost always more heavily male. Both communists and fascists tend to be more male. You have notably more men that are less interested in social conformism or standards to begin with, thus there are more "slob"/NEET/antisocial/"loser" men.

They definitely are more susceptible, if not they choose to be.

The weak find strength in numbers, the strong find it in dominance.

You don't get to erase the monkey brain simply because 100 years of progress says it's wrong.

On average men are stronger than women, everything being 50/50 women did what they were told because in caveman days you either got bonked over the head or you came willingly.

I think the biggest example of this being true is the wage gap.

So many women believe it despite it being disproved, but because it's parroted by people in power they continue to believe it's completely due to sexism despite it being illegal to pay women less for simply being women.

Well, this is the point of debate and you have show zero evidence for it to be equally susceptible. Also, if women are more suscpetible than men, this doesn't make it oneside at all. If women turn to be 10%, on average, more susceptible to social trends, this makes it anything but onesided but still lets people be right who claim they are MORE susceptible.

I'd agree that it's way more feminine than masculine. Women are more agreeable in personality than men on average. Men are more aggressive on average. Both suggest that conforming is less of a masculine trait and more of a feminine trait.

You have a problem of thinking in black and white. All the differences between men and women on average are fairly small in effect size, yet they are true differences and all we can go by if we want to characterize "men" and "women" as a group.

OP almost everything you listed as male conformity are examples of things men do in order to increase their chances of attracting women. Ie. Hair style, and clothing trends for men are far more effected by the amount of women who would hook up with the rapper, than the rapper’s actual style. Same goes with where men are going, “hunters follow the herd”. As for Redpill stuff, that has gained genuine popularity among men, but not nearly on the scale you’re saying.

While trends exist for both sexes, they are not equal.

I think there is a general difference in that the default of "clean, but otherwise natural" is generally more permissible to men, and that most male fashion trends that catch on aren't harmful to men- specifically white men. In other words, male fashion trends do exist, but most men can safely opt out of virtually all of them with no hit to his social or economical ability, and following them tends to not cost him anything (besides money). It's all fun and games.

That one is more of the oppressor class/oppressed class thing: in most oppressed classes, their comfortable default is not considered acceptable. That is why you will see more fashion varieties in, say, American ghetto culture, especially among both poor black and poor white kids trying to mimic rich black people.

In the same vein, there is more fashion variety in women in general than there is in men in almost every culture, because men are more often expected to do what works and exist, and women are more expected to express their presence.

Even rich women are expected to constantly change their style to appeal to the new "sexy" thing, whereas the same class rich men are not expected to have plastic surgery and aesthetic rituals on anywhere but their faces, and that's usually just to look more youthful. Their clothes largely stay the same over the decades as well- even if a new trend pops up, he can easily just show up in a nice button-up with his hair brushed and be fine.

Women are also expected to follow fashion trends regardless of danger, while male fashion trends tend to be relatively safe (weight is one light exception, with some men expected to dehydrate to show abs, but the vast majority of men are not expected to do this, and men are permitted a lot more body fat than women are before men are considered "unattractive", which is ironic since women are biologically curvier and built more for sustaining themselves. Even "dad bods" are considered more socially acceptable than "mom bods", even though "mom bods" have a biological purpose and "dad bods" do not). The vast majority of makeup and haircare that women are expected to perform every day is carcinogenic.

Both sexes are susceptible to conformity as our species (all the way back to its primal conception) is a communal, herd animal.

But studies prove women are naturally more susceptible to trends than men. It's basic psychology. It has a lot to do with women being more agreeable as a generalization. Weirdly it's actually the flip side of the same phenomenon that means men commit 95% of convicted crimes... Men are less agreeable and are therefore more likely to not conform to somebody else's imposed social rules or 'ideals' (i.e. trends).
