Validation, it's really that simple. Always ask for her number after 1-3 messages to keep you from:

1.) Wasting your time.

&

2.) Allowing her to use you for validation, which you already gave her by swiping right.

What would it change to know why they are doing that? it is still out of your control. You are pissed, that's understandable, but the one thing you can control is to not get attached and tell yourself: "well, ok, there's plenty of women i can ask", this is called abundance mentality.

I don't know what happened on Tinder, it used to be amazing about two years ago and I got many lays off it with little effort. Went back in it recently and it seems hard to get a number off a girl, or even matches. Maybe it's changed or maybe my looks have faded now I'm 34, not sure which.

As someone mentioned, girls use it for validation. Some of them rarely if ever meet any of their matches. Last night a girl who was 5/10 in looks showed me with great glee how she had 3,000 matches, and how almost every man she swiped yes too matched with her. If a girl who is meh in terms of looks can get this much attention, I really think Tinder is a waste of time. Do cold approach instead.

I had girls with boyfriends give me their numbers becuase they are validated, it makes them feel attractive, but afterwards she tells me she has a boyfriend and happy.

Set up the date, then in closing exchange numbers. Give yours and ask for hers. It's worked for me many times. Just text your number and ask for hers at the same time

Don't ask for their phone number. Setup plans, and just post your phone number in case they feel like texting you. Phone numbers for some girls make them feel more vulnerable.

tl;dr. Do something different.
