Men commit more crime. That's just true. I think part of that can probably be attributed to biological differences but I also don't think that's the whole story. I'm a systems thinker. I try to understand the why of things on a systemic level whether that's about race, age, class, or gender. So with that in mind...

One factor worth considering is the pressure for men to act as provider. This social pressure is engrained in our culture at all socioeconomic levels. Lots of men resort to crime, including semi-organized crime, because they have obligations to meet not just for themselves but for others and are less likely to be taken care of if struggling than women.

On top of that, support services for men are generally not as robust as they are for women. From homeless aid to mental health services and of course abuse support, men tend to have less attention paid to them and less care, materially and socially, available. This likely contributes to a higher rate of crimes of desperation and crimes of passion or unsound thinking in men.

Another factor that no one wants to talk about but is nonetheless relevant is sex. Women facing destitution generally have the capacity to turn to sex work whereas men in the same circumstances generally don't. Obviously that's not a desirable position for most, but nothing one has to do when trying to meet basic survival needs in extreme poverty is. Mary Marcy, a socialist writer active around the turn of the 20th century, wrote a book on this called Women as Sex Vendors. The language is a bit dated, but the fundamental point does still stand and serves as part of the explanation for why men are more likely to turn to other kinds of crime to survive.

Finally, we can't discount that women, as has been noted throughout history and in all sorts of other social circumstances, are more prone to and adept at wielding soft power and influence than men. This ties into the provider expectation earlier, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that many women benefit from the profits of crime while persuading or pressuring men to take the more direct or dangerous actions. I'm not sure how much of a factor that is and I doubt it's been studied very thoroughly if at all (though I'd be curious to see if anyone can offer more information on that) but I'd be surprised if it doesn't contribute to at least some extent.

FBI stats show that crime rate drops for men faster than for women. In certain crimes female rate is growing.

Still crime corelates with being poor, disadvantaged, no education and substance abuse. Men are outnumbering women on the social bottom - and thus men are commiting more crime.

I.e discrimination of men -> men are disadvantaged -> men do crime.

Same as with black people, btw

Think of it this way….men commit more crimes, but why?

When other groups commit more crimes, people actually want to know why. For example, areas with high rates of poverty are more likely to have more crime than areas which are wealthy. Does that mean we suddenly hate all poor people? No! Instead we show sympathy to the poor and actually put time and effort into fixing the root causes, whether it it totally ending poverty or providing support for the poor.

So now ask yourself this….why should men not be given that same amount of sympathy? I’m not saying let’s all love criminals, but what I am saying is that men committing crimes isn’t just a problem towards women, but it’s a problem towards men themselves, and unless people actually help men, crime won’t just vanish. I think that there’s still loads of expectations that men should be physically strong, independent, fearless etc. and so when men are raised to be tough, they’re going to resort to the “tough” behaviours they’ve been taught to embrace.

Let’s also not forget how some crimes actually affect men more than women (for example, men are more likely to be mugged and physically assaulted). So it’s not as simple as “all crimes are worse for women”. It depends on the type of crime.

Huh, as it turns out if you teach someone to ignore their emotions from the moment they learn to speak and consistently ignore their boundaries by gaslighting them into thinking they 'always want it', then tell them that them being assaulted isn't a big deal because of how they were born, then gaslight them into fearing emotional care, complexity, and healthy emotional conversation, they're less likely to turn into an emotionally healthy, well-adjusted person. I'm not saying it's excused or justified, I'm saying you don't get to be surprised and, after experiencing male childhood, I can confidently say that the number of good men in this world is higher than it deserves to be.

Ecological fallacies aside, judging me based on how I look would be a problem if it was based on the color of my skin. But because of a different factor, which I had just as much choice in, it's fine?

I know that men have a preponderance towards crime. A lot of groups are like that. Either all of those stats matter or none of them do. Tell me, should prison sentences increase based on how dark your skin is? Should poor people have a curfew at night to protect rich people? Should mothers be separated from their children, as mothers make up the overwhelming majority of child abusers and child murderers? What should we do to people with learning disabilities?

No? Then why the fuck are you projecting it onto me? No other group would be expected to just take that.

I'm not saying to give guys more slack. All I ask is that you understand where it comes from and treat this with the same level of sympathy that you'd treat literally any other group under the sun. Empathy would solve more of the problem than you'd expect.

Simple be more supportive men. A lot of crime committed by men is out of desperation. Feed the family. Get basic necessities for oneself.

We see a lot of assistance programs won't even consider helping men based on old assumptions that men don't need help.

This can also be seem in some war situations where men are often just left out of aid efforts.

Just be willing to help men.

Black people commit crime at a disproportionate rate too, do we attribute that to biology, does that justify white supremacy? No, both conclusions are obviously wrong. The reason why crime is so prevalent in black communities is due to poor socioeconomic conditions and culture.

The same applies to men as a whole. Socioeconomic conditions and culture drive men to crime. The vast majority of criminals don't commit crimes because they want to, they often get involved in crime because they have no other choice, whether by intimidation or neccesity.

Ask these women how they would feel about a woman who gets into drug dealing to support her family, chances are they would probably see her as a victim, and then ask them why they don't extend similar empathy to a man in the same situation.

Look at the bell curve of men's different abilities and characteristics. We have a much higher representation at the extremes compared with women. That's one of the reasons you see much more exceptional but also shitty men compared to women. Don't forget the vast body of science, culture and great deeds that men have done for mankind (regardless of motivation being altruism or egoism) and where society would have been today without it.

A small percentage of men are great at what they do and this greatness doesn't discriminate between good and evil. This small percentage is much smaller in women. Hope that makes sense!

If someone was advocating for female supremacy and not just making an observation, I'd rhetorically punch back with:

Black people are overrepresented in crime. Does that also imply that we should give black people harsher punishment for the same crime than white people get? You don't think so? What I mean is the justice system is biased against men (especially black men) and thats where we get those numbers.

Is it even true? The vast majority of crimes are not solved. How do we know the identities of the perpetrators? We know that of those convicted, most are men. But we also know that the legal system discriminates against men. We have no way of knowing how much of the disparity is based on that discrimination and how much, if any, is based in male criminality.

Men do commit more crime. Lilley for two reasons.

One - Biological. Risk taking behaviour. Men are the biologically expendable sex so our biology is less wired towards keeping ourselves alive. Risk Taking is a morally neutral trait however. So if you lessen the amount of risk takers in the world you probably will lose an equal amount of positive effects to negative ones.

Two - Behavioral. Women are relatively small and weak. The average woman is smaller and weaker than not only 75% of men but also 50% of her own sex. If you put two men in a room, a big guy and a little guy, you might observe that the little guy minds his manners more on average. Remove the big guy and the little guys behaviour will normalise.

So, if you remove all the men for a long enough period of time the amount of violent crime women commit(which is already about a 5th of all violent crimes, and possibly higher than that as the reality of men committing more crimes does create a bias in individual cases that means women get away with their crimes at a higher proportion) will increase.

Women's criminality in this scenario will probably not grow to equal mens due to point one, and maybe it would still be significantly less but it could come pretty close.

Given all that. And given the fact that interpersonal crime isn't even in the top 10 most threats to human life in a developed and healthy society, does that seem worth committing genocide over.

Especially as the people that are being genocided here is the group on the planet that is most capable of defending themselves.

Men are generally more aggressive risk takers, which often manifests itself in great ways that have helped society become what it is today, with things like exploring, inventing, starting new businesses, winning wars, etc. Unfortunately sometimes these aggressive risk taking tendencies manifest in antisocial ways such as committing crimes.

So if someone said we should reduce crime by feminizing men or putting women in charge, I would say the consequences of that would be not only losing the negatives, but also the positives associated with masculinity as well.

Most people don't actually think it through this far and instead have some utopian ideal in their mind where you can somehow have a bunch of go getter men and warriors and shit while simultaneously have every man being feminine and submissive. It doesn't work that way. Everything has a downside.

Men are more likely to feel rejected by society.

When women hit rock bottom financially, they can always resort to sugar babying or any sort of transactional relationships (up to straight up prostitution) like that to dig herself out of a hole.

When a man hits rock bottom and he doesn't have support from family or friends, how many men earn good money pimping himself out on the street, escorting, stripping, or going onlyfans? He may turn to theft or even lash out violently.

Society straight up cares more about women than men. Because lots of men are willing to stab each other in the back to get laid. And women have a sense of comraderie with each other that you don't see among men. So men are more likely to have their backs against the wall. And therefore lash out in desperation.

I saw some asshole Gen X/boomer guy tell a homeless Gen X/boomer guy begging for change to "get a job." If i was that homeless dude, I would have straight up knocked that shit talking boomer/Gen X the fuck out. They have gyms in prison, 3 square meals and shelter. It wouldn't be a downgrade. These assholes who harrass homeless people are too emboldened these days, they need to get checked. They need to start fearing lumpenproles again. You accept like a man and try to be better. These are facts, you can't fight them.

Instead try to improve yourself and tell other men to behave so that stats like that won't exist

You don't combat it. You don't fight misandry with a defensive argument. When someone is charging you with a headlong rush, you don't brace. When someone is wrestling you, you don't try to maintain a standing posture.

Instead, you use their weight to take them down. Do men commit most of the crime? Yes. But what makes it so, is it not their power? Is it not the fact that all toxic masculinity is about superiority in some sense or another? So wouldn't female supremacy have the same issue in the end? I reckon it would.

Male crime rates aren't the cause of patriarchy, it's not an inherent quality of men either. It's a result of toxic masculinity and the glorification of male power.

So how do you fight it? Well - bring up the idea that telling men they are criminals is a reinforcing behaviour, and it's much more constructive to give men the alternative paths that they don't know yet. You can't teach a dog to sit on a toilet if the dog hasn't seen a toilet being used, and you can't tell a man to be a positive contribution to society if the man has never known positive masculinity.
