Gonna say this again as a woman who is in a long-term relationship with a man 13 years older:

Just because he's older, doesn't mean he's wealthy, fit, is financially successful, is debt free, owns a house, has a nice car, or any other financial indicators of high value.

The idea that my being 23 and him being 36 inherently meant that he was high value is false. Maybe in the 1960s or 70s that was true, but the modern economy isn't kind to most middle-class people.

My husband is a lawyer, and all of the other lawyers at his firm have age appropriate (and educated) wives. Everyone at his firm are in their 30’s-40’s, and they have all been married for 10-20+ years. If someone suddenly showed up with a 22 year old girlfriend they would be laughed at

It's so much simpler than this: most people want to date someone of a similar age, life experience, and social existence as them. Most men are not walking around like puffy irritated chickens going, "I'm a 35 year old high value man, I only date women who are 10 years younger, way more fertile and youthful, no used up 35 year old bags". The problem with large age gaps, is that someone is going to be wiping someone else's ass before it's over with, and that's not very attractive. Most of you are far, far too young to comprehend the differences between 60 and 75, but it's real and it's going to suck for the younger partner.

At younger ages, it's the parent problem. Finding a woman who's willing to bring a man home to meet mom and dad, when he's closer to their age than hers, is going to be a problem. That's a humiliation that most would spare themselves from when possible.

This also fails to consider that past a certain age, men's value also goes down. He loses physical attractiveness, becomes fat, or can't get it up anymore. And a divorcee, especially a man with kids from a previous relationship, is also not someone I personally would say is a HVM. But this is fine anyway - these men and women end up dating in the 35+ divorced SMP and go on to re-marry, just as you say.

The point here is that both men's and women's dating options do decrease in value the older you get. It's the "leftovers" so to speak; people who are unattractive, unable to navigate commitment even if they want it, divorcees, people with children, people who maybe cannot have kids anymore, etc.

"Lawyer" and "High Value" are overloaded here.

I mean, it really depends on what the woman is looking for. If he's intelligent, emotionally mature and looking for intimacy, working a lot, and etc, then he's not going for just any woman because she's younger and perkier. Maybe you have the insecure lawyers and finance guys who want any trophy girl (I know a man like this, and he is closeted gay but it's the deep south and as he says they look good together in photographs).

You also have the actual intellectual guys, leaders, nuanced thinkers.... who want a woman who is worth spending time around. Now, 15 years younger, dating older, and actually worth spending time around, that's a really great find, and I guess that woman could take her pic.

I have seen women game this, good level of education, high IQ, esoteric hipster interests, hot body, sexually open and fun, and looking for really great high class men 10-15 years older. Those women won, and in both cases got precisely all they were looking for. But not just any woman can pull this off.

"secure" is a strong word when talking about relationships with a 10+ years gap. Those relationships have a 40% more chances to end in divorce than relationships for same-age people.

It is well understood a lawyer is a pretty lucrative career/title for men in the eyes of women. A lawyer who will have lots of options at any age, so he's not settling for your basic 35yo unless she's hot, maybe rich from familial wealth, maybe works a very prestigious career through privileged means (nepotism, expensive schools, etc), or has any other quality that separates her from the herd of 35 year old women that would happily date a lawyer.

Eh, I'm not sure about that. I'm 35 and absolutely open to dating men in their 40's, but barely any guy under 60 wants me lol. And they're not even old "high value" men. They're old average men. Thing is I'm generally fine with dating men within roughly 20 years around my age (from 10 years younger to 10 years older) and could be flexible with another couple of years, but I draw the limit at dating men literally the same age as my dad. That would just be weird. Fyi I'm a bit below average for a woman of my age, but not at the absolute bottom.

They already do that. Relationships with 5-10 year age gap are more common than people here admit. However these relationships hide some dangers. The younger person eventually "catches up" to the older one careerwise and suddenly they feel that they're too good to date someone older. This is the reason why you'll notice that women around the age of 30 stop romanticizing older men. It's conveniently the age where men start becoming successful in their careers.

Also, what you’re talking about is the opposite young women are more agreeable and easy. Way way more than 10% of girls would date an older attractive man, and the older guys are much more in demand than you are comprehending.

Women who are attractive in 30s and 40s are mostly taken, have high interest in babies/marriage, and are rarer to be attractive. Older attractive women are actually much more difficult to land than younger attractive women.

Young women are impressed by less, if you have a house, car, and take vacations your special. An older attractive woman will not care unless you’re very rich.

If you look good and you’re fit, getting girls in their 20s is easy. Young women want guys in their 40s if they find you attractive.

Yes except for the fact that there are hardly any older HVM. I can speak from experience that there is like 20+ young beautiful women for every me. I tell girls to fuck off left and right, similar to how young hot girls tell men to fuck off, and I'm never short of attention from women.

Even OLD is like this for the most part. I get regular decent tinder matches and such from much younger women. One messaged me saying she's independent and I just stopped talking to her immediately because there's like 10 other ones talking to me, I don't need to deal with that BS.

If you consider only "financially high value" I 100% agree with your point. Boom any half decent younger woman can get a man with some kind of decent income. Now If they also need to be in shape and good looking and social and good in bed... we're talking like 0.001% of men even in that general ball park, ie no serious defects and decent or better at basically all generally desirable metrics. Which that is a true HVM in terms of the dating pool.

So no they can't simply get a HVM going older. They can get a higher... but it becomes ultra competitive quick and flips in the man's favor.

All I can say is I literally can keep a harem so many women are trying to date me. I can weed out all women that expect me to be monogamous and still have women left over. Clearly it's not the females market once you're going after the very exceptional men.
