I find it hilarious that women on this thread can say with a straight face, “unless you’re hot, this won’t work” It’s incredibly revealing that women will accept anything from attractive men, but if men are less than the top 10%, all of a sudden women find they have boundaries and expectations. Yes, men can see right through this double standard. It also tells men they aren’t worthy of love unless they put on a show

The sentiment is fine. The presentation stinks, and unless you're crazy good looking, your profile will fail.

Women have a well trained ability to sense male anger. Why wouldn't they, angry men can be dangerous. This makes you sound angry and bitter.

It also says "I've been with a bunch of women I didn't end up respecting, and here are all of their deficiencies". Here's what she's going to think of that. Maybe they were fine and you don't respect women. Left swipe. Maybe they weren't fine, which means you're not a sufficiently attractive / interesting man in person to attract high quality women! Left swipe!

Women see "emotionally stable" as man-code for "Compliant. Never objects to anything or demands what she needs". Don't say that either.

You can say all these same things positively. Maybe rather than presenting these things as requirements she must meet, claim them as virtues of your own. Then, say you want someone who shares them.

If you’re very attractive (we’re talking male model looks, great shape, over 6 foot tall), you can get away with this as you’re the abundant guy who can be picky. If you’re not, it makes you unappealing and comes off heavy. Your words on an app are a chance to spark attraction and intrigue. I’d recommend still adding preferences, especially character-based, but in a more positive way.

Having standards and being honest about who you are is super important for an authentic relationship but you’re not using an authentic dating platform. You just need to spark interest, see them in person, slowly reveal yourself and gauge whether you’re compatible.

Just think how you’d meet a woman in real life. Chances are, you’d flirt, have fun, exchange smiles, feel each other’s ‘vibes’. Attraction, comfort. The life fact stuff maybe comes later in the conversation and in a natural, dynamic way rather than a list. For many women, if they’re attracted to you and feel an energetic connection, they will not be as bothered by the fact you’re divorced or have kids. They may even see it as a positive. But without attraction and comfort, there’s more logical ‘red flags’ for a woman to cling onto.

dont use negative phrases, it serves no purpose. nobody will think of themselves as emotionally unstable or irresponsible. you have to invoke positive feelings when somebody sees your profile. tell what qualities you posses better if you can use some humor. have good photos. /r/SwipeHelper

The difference is that women can edit their profiles in such a brutally honest way because they have so many options to choose from. There are way more men looking for women on those apps than women are looking for men. From what I hear the ratio is like 1000:1 or something ridiculous.
