Is status more important than personality?

First of all, status is highly subjective. A rapper is not high status to me, though he may be to a different type of woman. Status to me is prestige/class, not just money, plenty of trashy people have money. Different types of people will define these things very differently. Secondly, personality is what keeps a relationship going and I want to be married for life so yes it’s the most important thing.

I literally don’t know what status means other than that it has to do with how people outside my relationship perceive my relationship.

At the end of the day, I am with my husband because I like him. He’s the person I want to spend all my time with, and I don’t care about what other people think about him. We say it’s us against the world.

Status can be part of personality, I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive.

Status also means different things to different people.

A highly respected scientist or writer is more attractive to me than a rapper or tik tok famous guy.

There are also exceptions-I was once interested in a guy with no job, he wasn’t into me so I moved on.

I’m married (will be 16 yrs in Oct) and make double my husband’s income. It’s never been an issue.

IMO most women aren’t turned off by the amount of money the man makes instead I think the actual issue is if that man with a lower income doesn’t have drive/ambition. 🤷‍♀️

Recently this german reality tv star got a giant shit storm because her requirements for a potential boyfriend are 1. he needs to have a drivers licence 2. he musst have some kind of degree or he learned a trade.

Literally the bare minimum for someone in their late 20‘s. But people still called her a gold digger.

This is how I see this whole debate about women wanting money/status. No matter what requirement a woman has, she will be called a gold digger.

If you want kids, dont date the guy who works 2 days a week for minimum wage. That doesnt mean you value money over personality.

For some peopele, money is super important. They have a specitic lifestyle they live/want to live, so they want someone who can keep up/make it happen. Some people expect the man to be the provider, so they want a man who can support a family on his salary alone. And some people just want someone who they can split the rent and bills with, and who isn't going to drag them down financially with debt/bad financial decisions/addictions.

Personality is key. Status likely changes over the course of a lifetime. Personality usually doesn't.

For some women, that's very much the case. It's easily observable throughout history. Status usually means money and power. That means safety and luxury.

Humans are often shallow and petty. Humans are often opportunists. That obviously includes women.

But I have to stress that not all women are the same. You can't use this information as a cheat code, you cannot apply it to all women.

Not more important, but equally as important. I wouldn’t date a boring wet rag of a man just because he is high status. Similarly, I wouldn’t date a trashy loser just because he is fun and interesting.

If status is “college educated” then yes. There is a huge difference in how people act when they didn’t go to college/graduate and I’m not dating “shower beer Chris.”

Status is important for some women but not all, and the ones who care about it are gonna be the ones who plaster their lives all over social media.

I wouldn’t want to live that life if you paid me to do so. I’d much rather have a man who makes significantly less than I do but can make me laugh than one who’s duller than beige paint but can score a good table at Dorsia.

I’m happily engaged to a guy who makes 4-5x less than I do but makes me belly laugh on a daily basis

I want a relationship for love. Status or money can't give me emotional connection. What even status is? I don't care. If I love him he can be broke and unemployed and I will happily provide for him. I can provide for myself. Outside love, emotional connection and attraction there is absolutely nothing I need a man for, everything else I can provide myself.

My husband didn’t work for almost the first decade of our relationship. I paid for us, the kids, and his schooling. There’s not enough money for me to be with someone I don’t find hot or genuinely like as a person.
