My counterargument is that it's natural for humans to be diverse in their tastes. It's what made us adaptable as a species. It's the natural state of things for the vast majority of women to prefer men at least as successful them, and a small minority to prefer the opposite.

Money isnt an issue for me as long as my girlfriend works a job since im pretty financially stable and know how to handle money. If she made more money than me it wouldnt make a difference in the dynamic since i can still hold my own.

Seems feasible for a trust fund baby to marry a guy above her league. She wants beautiful and healthy kids like anyone would and she doesn’t have to rely on the father to provide for them since she has enough money. She also wouldn’t have to worry about a divorce cleaning her out since had her money long before she got married and most of it is under a trust, so there’s not much of a loss for her in this arrangement. I don’t see how it’d be unnatural.

OP you have to realize hypergamy is only natural for women that are attractive and can actually marry up or across.

Average women have to earn their keep or they stay single. Men expect them to be more successful in their career, to compensate for their lack of looks and femininity.

I think it’s possible for the woman to be romantically interested in the man despite him making less, but if she’s less attractive than other women then the man is possible just with her as she’s a placeholder.

If he ever got as successful as her he would probably go select a woman that’s actually attractive since he wouldn’t need his partner to go 50/50 anymore.

To be fair there haven't really been "wealthy" women until lately, e.g. independently wealthy women. Historically a "wealthy women" was a daughter of a wealthy family. So the jury may still be out on independently wealthy women. At least in these cases of wealthy daughters or wives, there are no shortage of women who dated attractive men below their class. There's a reason that kings had eunuchs.

You seem to be referring to hypotheses as if they are facts. You cannot prove these hypotheses in the present day.

Human nature varies a lot between us. I understand that it feels a lot easier to reduce women down to basic “natural” desires makes you feel more in control when dating, but the reality is that each human mind is shaped by different experiences and different personality traits, and desires are very much individual.

Rich women are rarer but they have been known to date men who aren’t rich. Madonna. Cher. That woman who married the hot felon was a multi millionaire.

It’s more that women tend to have less access to wealth. Generally wealthy men marry other wealthy women. It’s rare to see a rich man marry a woman from a lower class. Since rich women are rarer, we don’t see them do much of anything.

I personally vouch for this. The longest relationship I ever had was with a woman who wasn't very rich but was wealthy, and I was working at Walmart of all stupid places. It didn't work out in the end and yes I can admit that it just never felt natural no matter how "good" everything else felt. It was just not right.
