I don't believe the "loneliness epidemic" is about not being able to hook up. It would be more about lack of social opportunities in general (like the ability to go on dates and have some degree of hope and optimism about them even if they lead nowhere the vast majority of the time).

Whenever the "Male Loneliness Epidemic" is brought up, I've heard many people say that women that have meaningless hookups can be just as lonely and it should just be the "Loneliness Epidemic".

It's pretty much a lie anyway. Women can easily find regular LTRs on online dating as well, probably not with super hot guys though. This whole "all men on dating apps are creeps and perverts" thing is nothing but stupid excuse.

It's deleted now, but a guy here did a Catfish experiment and clearly showed that women do receive a plenty amount of respectul messages from decent-seeming men.

I would disagree with this, for several reasons. As difficult as it is for women to have orgasms apparently, it’s even WORSE for random hookups, so the “basic physical need” is NOT a guarantee.

Also from what In hear from women, sex is not as important for women as it is for most men outside of an intimate relationship. It’s equivalent to what the friend-zone feels like for men. A woman getting used for sex but not getting the intimacy she so desires, feels comparable to a guy getting used for attention, ego boosts, strong arms, and super absorbent shoulders, but not getting the intimacy and sex he desires.

Bad sex for women is not like bad sex for men.

Worst case for a man, you don’t cum. She doesn’t move much, just lays there, gives you no direction. You pull away because she just doesn’t seem into it.

In my personal experience, casual sex does not help with loneliness. I used to have a roster of FWBs and have always the capacity to simply go out and return with a woman, but I was missing a real, deep connection with a life partner. When weekends are full of dates, but nobody sticks with you during the weekdays and share the joy/suffering of the eternal hamster wheel, you just feel kinda used and hollow.

I agree that meaningless hookups can make you feel lonely, but its an objectively better experience to no physical contact at all.

Most women i talked to would rather not have had most of the meaningless hookups they had. They were a net negative experience.

No, it's not normal to go years without sex. 10-15% of young men don't have sex in a given year.

Adult virginity is the same for men and women. So is the reported loneliness for men and women. If you want to not be lonely, have friends. You don't need sex or a romantic partner to not feel lonely. The "need" for sexual relief can be taken care of by masturbating.
