Social media did nothing that didn’t already exist. It only amplifies a person’s existing character. Before social media it was church groups and people visiting each other and banging the delivery guys and secretaries. Nothing new under the sun.

I do not post much, but I have to say something to this. One of the comments my ex made about how I was "controlling and manipulative" was to say that she looked it up on the internet and that is what it told her. We used to laugh about statements like that together, how "everything on the internet is true...."

Then recently I was told by someone that she posted a meme that said "Men cheat because of lust, women cheat because they are unhappy"

You are completely correct, somehow they get completely oblivious and their brains turn to mush after they read so many of these stories on social media.

Women are damaged by social media, men - by porn and videogames. And by alcohol, at least in russian-speaking countries. Statistically speaking.

We all have our sins.

I've just learned recently that videogames industry is bigger than music, television and movies combined.

I can't attribute the failure of my marriage to social networks. If anything, my fascination with videogames did more to it.

In general, women are more focused on feelings. The thing about the internet is that there is always a group that exists to support your feelings.

There's a guy Derrick Jaxn that the wife liked to watch. His entire gimmick was telling (mostly Black) women that they are perfect, men suck, their man sucks, buy my book. Of course, he was cheating on his wife and a con artist. But that didn't matter. He gave them a 'legitimate' forum to make them feel better / a certain way.

The problem is that so many people, especially women, believe the delusions and lies; think they are oppressed, deserve better, or worse, are worth so much more. So they blow up their current situation, chasing the delusion.

I see guys to this too, but not for relationships...

Women aren't meant to have unlimited options in terms of men. Prior to social media they only could choose from guys in their geographical location. A cell phone is basically a "box of dicks" for them.

You just see the best of people's lives on social media. Some people work really fucking hard to put on this false narrative of the perfect life, the perfect husband, the perfect family. It sets an unachievable standard.

Yep. Wife friended men from all over the world and was involved in dozens of emotional affairs with them. When we went to marriage counseling, the marriage counselor told my wife that what she was doing was a betrayal of trust and was outside the boundaries of our marriage vows. She didn't believe him.

Yip. My wife wanted to be a ‘yummy mummy’ and destroy our new born son’s life by turning him into a baby model and posting his daily life on Instagram. I said no, so she filed for divorce. I am now blocked on all her social media. Friends send me daily screenshots of this horrendous human posting at time inappropriate pictures and videos of our son all over social media for every weirdo on the planet to see. I have tried to stop it, but I can’t. I can’t put into words how devastated I am for my boy.

No man can compete with the attention and validation women receive on social media. Compared to the 1000 compliments she gets every day on line, your heartfelt comment that "she looks hot" means nothing to her. Unlike the validation on social media, it won't even make her moist, and most likely will have an evaporating effect.

Most women will spend more time and energy cultivating their online personality than in investing in a real relationship, which is simply another transaction for more attention and validation. No relationship can survive such an imbalance.

It definitely was a factor. First, it started with popular home improvement projects which was actually fun, but devolved into “what are you doing about George Floyd?” “What are you doing for Me Too?” “What are you doing about your (he’s our’s mind you) 5 year olds toxic masculinity?” to “I’m done. It’s just a relationship. And besides, marriage is just an institution to sexually ensalve women”

I wouldn't say it was a main cause, but definetly a contributing cause.

My stbx wife is dumb enough to believe that those reels couples make on fb and tiktok are real. Also, some of those influencers with no professional expertise, giving pieces of advice on topics they have no mastery of (ie relationships, marriages...).

I actually think the circle of hens she befriended at her new job had more of an effect. I'm sure you'd be shocked to learn they are all divorced.
