A woman that worked in the same building as me was victim of an attempted murder-suicide by her husband. Bastard shot her several times in the chest before he shot himself. Thankfully she survived and he offed himself successfully.

The trigger for this incident was not only because she was having an affair (with another coworker) but that EVERYONE at our work site was aware of it. Now, I dont condone cheating but I sure as fuck don't think it's punishable by death. You leave the relationship and move on. Every female coworker agreed with this but of course all the scrote men were quick to scold and insult the wife (who was fighting for her life in the hospital) and BLAME HER for the husband's death. I remember they told everyone about his funeral service and how we should go. I was like, why the fuck would I want to mourn an attempted murderer??? Fuck that guy.

To be very clear, in America there’s a “defense” for murder called “heat of passion” which in general is a two part test - a) was there adequate provocation where a “reasonable person” (historically man) to commit the murd*r and b) did the defendant not have enough time to emotionally calm down from this.

A man walking in on his wife in bed is the textbook scenario for the heat of passion defense. It’s on nearly every bar exam. (They don’t even bother with women perpetrators) (it’s deeply rooted in women being property)

Anyhow in my law school they bother to point out this defense is virtually never available to women. Battred wife’s can’t get it because even if they live in a lifetime of terror and cannot perceive any way to escape other than murdr (which we know is actually a very common phenomena because abusers will spend years outlining how you can’t leave/how they’ll k!ll you if you try). So, if a b@ttered wife $hots her husband after he sleeps… well he was asleep… clearly the moment of passion had passed and she was calm and rational.

(Not to mention just bias against women’s “emotional!ty” where she could walk in on her husband in bed cheating but for some reason thats not adequate provocation because a reasonable person in her shoes wouldn’t “overre*act” like that)

So these men are being awful in excusing murder but our legal system excuses it too
