Just. Dump. Him.
[–]LonlinessandtittiesFDS Newbie 607 points608 points609 points 4 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like Matt is the one he loves. She's not his girlfriend. Matt is his boyfriend.
And of course the advice on this post is "You should tell him you want him to treat you nice!"
"Maybe he can't afford it so you should offer to split the bill or pay for the places you want to go!"
Y'all...
[–]witchy2628FDS Newbie 331 points332 points333 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I wonder if Matt is even a guy friend and not just a code name for a chick he's friends with. My ex did that 🙄
[–]elainejay82FDS Apprentice 244 points245 points246 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Bingo! I've learned men will use a real guy friend as their excuse and say they are meeting with that guy instead of the girl's actual name.
Or they will just make a male friend up out of thin air.
Ya know... Dave is really Jessica the whole time.
Old shit and I've seen it a million x.
I'd bet money Matt is a girl.
Think about it. What two men at that age go out often to eat at fancy restaurants together??? Ridiculous. He's cheating... And this partial truthing makes liars feel better about what they are doing because well "some of it is true." 🙄
Also, he's not taking her out ever anywhere it sounds like. Dominoes is delivery. So he's probably hiding her.
She's the side piece and doesn't realize it.
If a man told me this I would instantly know he's cheating and dump him without needing any sort of confirmation. That tells you how many times I have seen this game.

That’s what I thought too. Eating in? Seeing each other once a week? Fancy dinners with “Matt.” She’s the other woman and doesn’t even know it :(
[–]PackageZestyclose485 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
exactly, Lol!! I was like what PAIR of 20 yr old straight guys go out to nice places together? Lol
[–]kortiz46FDS Newbie 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My college boyfriend did this too. He would get girls numbers and save them as guys names

This is a clear example of how men don’t mind splurging if it’s something they care about. They’ll treat their bros to dinner or a round of beers without a thought. Maybe they’ll take their mom or dad out on mother’s/father’s day. They’ll definitely drop mad money in hobbies.
We all know the ones that are cheapskates across the board (avoid of course), but I’d argue that this ☝️is worse! If a guy is generous with everyone except you, his gf, it’s a big sign he doesn’t give a shit about you. As Deb Cooper says, you’re just something for him to do.

I used to have a weekly boys group when I waited tables, they came in weekly to get drinks and appetizers. They would good naturedly fight over who got to pay this time or they would palm me their card to pay before the argument could even get going. Men love paying for things they think are worth it.
[–]pickmieshaexorcistFDS Disciple 147 points148 points149 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. My dad, who financially abused my mom when they were together, will still be generous to other friends and family. He’s offered to pay my way many times. But then he gets the “good guy” or “good dad” image doing this too. And, iirc, he was never outwardly stingy to mom in public if it made him look bad.
It’s only the women they are intimate with, for whom they seem to have this stingy resentment; this angry chip on their shoulder. They see the women they supposedly love as a power struggle and leech for no reason. It’s reduced down to their ego and what gets them the most service for the least effort.
[–]jupitarianriseFDS Newbie 77 points78 points79 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
> it's reduced down to their ego and what gets them the most service for the least effort.
simple and clear description of lvm mentality. A relationship to them is a contest, you're not their partner, you're their competitor. If they provide (SiMp) they lose. If they get you to act like a doormat, chase them, they win.
[–]whitefox00FDS Newbie 30 points31 points32 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
EXACTLY the same thing my ex husband did. He was all about presenting that “good guy” image. He would also rush over to help friends/family with something but absolutely refuse to get off his ass at home. Most people didn’t believe me when I said he was selfish-because he was so “giving” with others.
[–]jupitarianriseFDS Newbie 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He sounds like a covert narcissist
[–]elainejay82FDS Apprentice 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You're dead on with this. ONLY their women at home get it behind closed doors, really. They hide it so well from others, people would almost never believe they are this way.
What pansies. They have to do it in secret to loving women who are generally smaller and physically weaker them. These guys SO low.
[–]blowjobzforjesus 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same with my dad. Super generous and everyone loves him. Pays for everything when he’s being watched. But behind closed doors not shit! Never helped me with money or college. Never helped me with $ when I asked etc. oh but the church? Friends? Distant family members? Hand that $hit out!! Meanwhile he won’t buy me school clothes for 10th grade or braces.

Basically my narc ex. He had to have the best of everything, but kept triangulating me with women who are "happy with so little". Him and his friends having standards and preferences was something to be proud of, but I was made to feel like a lesser than, defective woman if I had the bare minimum of expectation- unlike rando pickme wives they kept comparing me to- to be treated to the same standards he had for himself. That shit was crazy making.
[–]the-worst-FDS Newbie 135 points136 points137 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He said "do you really want to go there? It's expensive" and she just chose a different place? Lady, don't let them bully you into lying.
He's trying not to splurge on her so he can splurge on people he actually cares about.
Throw this clown out.

Back in my pick me days, I made the mistake of telling a man (basically dropping hints) that I was thinking of booking a spa day, that I needed to relax, you know what he said? “Which one? I am planning on taking my brother to (enter name of fancy spa)” I was shocked. I wasn’t good enough to be taken to the spa, but my idea was a good one… for someone worthy, meaning his brother or another male friend. He never went to the spa with his brother lol, he’s cheap as hell, but he wanted me to know how much he didn’t value me. Men who act right with other people and not with you (and rubbing it in your face) are doing it on purpose, they are being disrespectful. They want you to “know” your place: beneath them. They are absolute trash. That’s the same type of guy who will lovebomb you tho, because they need your attention.

Ladies, remember that some men see their friends as humans and you as property. Don’t question why he does this, just leave at the first sign of it.

Either way dude is future faking and she’s gonna get hurt.

It's sadism and treat-teasing. The sort of thing you do to a dog to get it riled up and excited, then laugh and sit down.
He knows he's driving her crazy and making her think "what did I do wrong / why aren't I good enough to be taken out to a nice place" (which he's probably lying about, or his friend is paying).
He's laughing at how often she falls for it. He absolutely hates her.

Once a week? That isn’t your boyfriend.
If a man is invested he’ll be seeing you minimum 3 x a week but usually more if he truly wants to mate gate
It is is high key likely he’s taking other women out to dinner
He made the ‘expensive’ excuse because he’s taken another lover there & doesn’t want the staff staring
Very odd for a 20yr old straight male to be going fancy dinners with his male friends all the time.
He’s future faking & stringing her along
He also might be bisexual tbh- he could be dating a man instead
[–]Phoenix__Rising2018Ruthless Strategist 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]eru378FDS Newbie 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I've had boyfriends do this. They'd spend a lot of money on outings with their male friends and with their family, but I wasn't worth a nice dinner out or some moderately costly activities on a day trip or weekend away. And these were relationships in which we each paid separately for everything! They would not have been paying for both of us, just themselves - and it still wasn't worth it. Insane. How much louder can a guy tell you you're not worth shit to him? This dynamic of the girlfriend being valued so much less than anyone else in a guy's life is truly horrible yet I let myself go along with it many times. Glad to be older and wiser.

[–]RussianAssholeFDS Disciple 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Something is seriously wrong if Matt is the one he’s trying to impress and not his girlfriend. Like dude, just ask your homie out on a date if that’s how you feel and leave this poor girl out of it.

[–]seraphinelysionFDS Apprentice 58 points59 points60 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I get the feeling his friend Matt has been paying for all these fancy places and her bf is just a mooch. No where does she say her bf pays at these places when he's out with his friend. Not even a mention of splitting or 50/50. 🤔
[–]FirePreferred_theOGFDS Newbie 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He rarely takes time off with her.
He only sees her once a week.
He never takes her out and instead they end up staying in and getting pizza from Dominos.
She's 100% the sidechick and "Matt" is the girlfriend.
[–]Noemie_MathildeFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]fak_beauty_standardsFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In his mind, she won't break up because that would mean she doesn't have a man and there's a stigma to it.

[–]catsuramenFDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
OP's boyfriend is probably too poor to treat his gf to nice places. Matt is expected to split the bill, but it will hurt the BF's ego of appearing machismo & rich if he cannot pay for OP too.
Basically, OP's boyfriend got some growing up to do...
[–]slayeroftruthFDS Apprentice 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Is it possible his "friend" is girlfriend. He lied to her about being single to use her as side chick? Either way she should leave him.

To save money on take out too, let's just cook at home. I have a great idea: I'll get naked, and you put some raw meat on my body so it can cook because MY BLOOD IS BOILING!!!
