The men of this subreddit are understandably jaded and cynical. That doesn't make them women-haters, especially when the "hate" is almost universally directed at either bad policy or even-worse societal norms and the direction the culture is headed generally. This may not fall autistically directly under the head of "Mens' Rights", but is certainly a fair topic when the consequences of not having a Mens' Rights movement (and this subreddit) as a place to talk about these legitimate concerns are so truly dire, and in direct conflict with the notion of "Mens' Rights".

Subreddits like this one and its constituency would never have taken off the way this one has if that jadedness and cynicism weren't based on something real, which is that an entire generation of women (not ALL women) have become "toxic"...or, at least, that's the word said women would use if an entire generation of men acted the way said generation of women demonstrably does. Very, very little of what is on this subreddit is anything more than a growing cynicism, and a general disgust at the behaviors of a group of people, and not the people themselves. As in, if that entire generation of women behaved differently, you wouldn't see even so much as this subreddit's existence, much less even a whiff at "misogyny".

It is true that the proper response to "misandry" isn't "misogyny", but I don't think that's what's taking place. All that's taking place is the creation of a "men's space" to talk about these things, where men can be comfortable talking honestly and openly about these things without the fear of ridiculously unfair and life-ruining backlash that obviously would happen if this subreddit didn't exist. If that doesn't qualify as being an element of "Mens' Rights", I don't know what would.

Yeah, I agree. In the past I've responded to these kinds of posts with "it's a small minority" and "proof or you're a concern troll," but there have been a slew of particularly rough posts lately. I might not even be seeing all of it because I've been blocked by some of the most prolific misogynists in this sub.

I get that men are angry, and I think with the way men have been treated by women's groups, some misogyny was inevitable, but that's an explanation, not an excuse. We need to model the kind of behavior we want to see from others. That doesn't mean "take the high road" or "be the bigger person" if someone's being nasty to you (I hate those expressions), but it does mean keeping in mind that even if you've had a bunch of awful experiences with women one after the other, as I have, that does not mean the entire female gender can be defined that way. I've been sexually assaulted, verbally and physically abused, coerced into sex (don't think it's quite rape, but that's neither here nor there), and those were all by bad women. Not by all women.

I don't know exactly what's happened recently to spark this uptick in bad content. Maybe it's just that kids have been out of school for the past month and we've been seeing more posts from angry teenagers? There was a spike in hateful content after the mgtow subs were banned, but it didn't seem to last. Hopefully this subsides too.

Another concern troll post, not sure how this is so upvoted. First off, no this sub is not sliding towards hating women. People do vent and some comments could definitely be phrased better, but it is far far far from a 'hating women' sub. Second, this is a very free speech sub. The mods could police it to YOUR standard, but what if someone still isn't happy. What if someone doesn't want anything negative said about women or even feminism at all? The mods do delete some hateful comments, but due to the free speech focus things people don't like are still left up. They also probably police misogynistic comments a lot more than misandric because of reddit's policies, kind of like how you can find some racism against white's here where as other kinds would be removed.

While you are correct that 'caring for mens rights is cool, blindly hating women is not'. That is not what is happening here. Shit is not 'falling off'. This sub has what a million times less hate than most reddit subs do? A billion times? How much better do we have to be than everyone else to please you? Does every single comment and post have to 100% about great women are and how much we should worship the ground they walk on?

Honestly, I've noticed this too and it's concerning because the little bit of legitimacy the sub has gained is going to be lost. I've been seeing a lot of responses that are purely emotional with no logical basis at all.

To clarify, the comments I'm seeing are things that generalize women as a whole. They're saying things like "all women are only looking to find the next best guy" or "women only see men as wallets to take from". Absolute statements are rarely ever accurate and almost always ruin credibility. That's my concern. The little bit of progress that's been made here could easily be undermined by sinking to their level and falling into generalizing, stereotyping thought patterns.

As long as the sub remains an outlet only to let out frustration, the sub will slide in quality. I think people who are incels or divorced or go the mgtow route or is red pilled gets drawn to this subreddit as they had a peek behind the curtain and knows that men lack the rights.

They tend to start angry, but they don't stay angry. They are just angry at the initial shock on how unfair the society can be towards men and make alot of noise about it in that anger. It takes a bit to cool off and start thinking straight and completely accept a life without women

Most of us don't hate women, not even the angry ones, we just hate modern day feminists(which includes simps).

And you’re always going to have the niche insecure / hurt guys who are using this platform to lash out, it’s a reality of any emotionally charged subreddit which touches on sensitive topics

And ofc the sub is going to be right leaning with its association with MGTOW etc, opening the door for concerningly rampant and supported transphobia you’ll see in every single post about trans men. As well as perhaps less favourable traditional views about women

The subs got the right idea, just the execution could do with some work, especially when it’s so detrimental to the movement, making the sub a laughing stock rather than a genuine productive place to try and make progress.

Just look at feminism, and how the few have tarnished that movement for years. It used to stand for something really important for woman of all ages. Now it's a shell of its former self when they need it the most.

Thing is people are divided on what constitutes as "Blindly hating women", it's subjective. From some people's perspective, this entire sub has always been blindly hateful. It also doesn't help that what little frames of reference there is, are changing rapidly overtime. What seems to matter most, is not to be too deviant from the norm, and if that norm changes you have to blend in once again.

I dislike people who dislike or hate men because of their gender (misandrists). Being a misandrist has nothing to do with being a woman, but misandrists often hide behind the term "feminism." More important than my distaste for them, these people are just wrong. Men and women have good and bad traits and pretending that one gender has only bad traits while the other has only good ones is ridiculous and dangerous.
