There are a looot more factors that influence personality/insecurity/empathy etc than looks. Looks aren't the primary factor. Family and upbringing is the biggest one.

I don't think looks correlate with personality that much, regardless of gender.

I think what happens is simply this:

In the dating pool, men/women who are hot and have great personalities are quickly "snatched up" and stay in LTRs for longer.

This leaves two groups left who spend more time "on the market": people who are physically attractive with bad personalities or habits, and people who aren't physically attractive (but may or may not have great personalities or habits).

Naturally, more people will have more experiences with the externally "hot" people with shitty personalities...

Leading them to believe it's "all" hot people.

I think this is probably true for both genders if we're honest. Though I have seen a big wave online of men advising other men to "date down" in terms of looks to secure partnership from a woman who is less attractive then they are.

I think there is some truth to this. The last person I dated was drop desd gorgeous. She gaslit snd beat the ever loving shit out of me. Then dipped when I started having boundaries. And then admitted to doing it again to the next one

Meanwhile my current partner while not as conventially attractive is a fucking gem. She is loving and she's loves to talk to me and I love to listen. No constantly screening for better options (as far as I'm aware 😹). No my way or the high way attitudes to everything. No crossing boundaries or forcing polyamory when the relationship isint working out and no physical abuse that's brushed of as ok because of the size difference.

I understand that these things are becoming more and more difficult to find with modern women. But these women are out there, you just have to navigate through mountains of needles to find some of them since they get wife, d up rather quickly

I try not to generalize people that way, everyone is different, and women can be/act in any way possible regardless of their level of attractiveness.

I don't mean this as a woke thing, it's simple reason, most of life isn't black or white, we're deep into layers of gray, brown, purple and what have you.

I don't find women all that variable in personality, at least to the same extent as men. As cool and unique as they seem at first, they all end up showing their neuroticism and need for validation. All this to say, the more homely women aren't materially different from hot women in terms of personality, so it's not at all a consideration.

I’ve heard the theory that attractive women have better personalities because they’re used to being treated well so they have more positive attitudes, while uglier women have worse personalities because being treated poorly sours their outlook on life. I’ve also heard that uglier women have better personalities because they can’t coast on looks and have to develop traits like kindness and a sense of humor, while attractive women have worse personalities because all the positive attention goes to their heads.

Personally I haven’t observed either of these to be true and I don’t notice a correlation between looks and personality traits.

I definitely think attractiveness influences personality but it’s the more the combo of looks + base nature + upbringing.

For example naturally kind + attractive + good upbringing = sweetheart. The world is kind to these women because of their looks and because their base nature is also to be kind, they end up being super nice optimistic bubbly people

Dark triad + attractive + bad or neutral upbringing = manipulative bitch. The world is nice to these women because of their looks but because their base nature tends towards sociopathy they prefer using their looks to get things

I don't think so, or at least it's a chaotic thing (in the mathematical sense, where small changes can have huge butterfly effects and you don't necessarily get closer to the true answer as you accrue data). You can also get circumstances where being well-received due to looks can leave someone with a naturally positive and generous nature whereas the reverse may leave you with a pessimistic outlook resulting in being more selfish and less giving/caring for purely defensive reasons.

And (obligatory disclaimer) this can go for both genders, of course.

I have noticed that less physically attractive women can be bitter and more attractive women can be pleasant but flaky, but I wouldn’t say that it’s some absolute correlation, as I’ve known some nice unattractive women and some unpleasant attractive women.

The women who I’ve known that have been the best mix of pleasantness and reliability have been pretty average.

almost anyone can look at a set of pictures and immediately rank them from top to bottom attractiveness... there even is a statistical maximally attractive "best face" you can derive by averaging out the facial features of an entire population.

its very difficult to rank people in terms of personality, its more about sorting them into shitty vs non shitty people.

so basically i dont think its REALLY possible to correlate those two variables in the first place, they arent even the same data type

No, but there is a correlation between their attractiveness and your perception of their personalities. People general perceive and rate the personality traits of an attractive person as more positive than they otherwise have cause to.

Somebody could poison kittens and take the pepperoni off of an orphan's pizza; objectively a monster, but if they're hot: "Maybe they just had a bad day, but still had thoughtfulness to protect that orphan from a pepperoni allergy?"

Ugly people tend to be insecure, sure, but each person will react differently to the situation they were put in. Some may act with selfishness by cheating for validation while another may build up their personality to compensate for what they feel they lack in. This can lead to "pick-me's" if they are toxic and competitive with women, but it could also lead to genuine admiration for a lot of different personalities. Hotter people are generalized as shallow, so some will try their best to build up their personality as well or even their career.

People aren't made up by the way they look, but it does affect them to a certain degree. Most blanket statements won't hold true. One that I think does is that hotter people are probably more tone deaf to the less aesthetically fortunate, but that's just privilege.

This is not applicable to every woman but think of it this way..a very attractive woman will get plenty of suitors trying to get with her. She will learn quickly that she only has so much time in the day to try and figure out if these men are worth her time so now she will start to filter out the men who approach her a bit more harshly and if you cannot stand out or seem different from the other 10 guys who approached her and started asking questions like you were on a job interview and then she rejects you then you will consider her a “brat” because she found you boring, predictable and forgettable. This might be a bit oversimplified but just try thinking from the perspective of an attractive woman getting approached constantly and you want the BEST possible guy you can get..how would you figure out who was worth your time? You cannot say yes to every guy who asks for your number

super hot women unless they have some flaw (whether its the ugly duckling syndrome or maybe a big gap in front teeth, not necessarily a big flaw)...tend to have in my personal experience either no personality or shit ones.

If you've always been pretty and had pretty privilege...you're not even aware of it, but also you dont really have to cultivate any other aspect of yourself. I'd say there is a male equivalent but prettyness doesnt go as far in men.

More attractive women have always had better personalities on average ime. They're happier, more intelligent, have better interests, are more outgoing, have healthier habits, etc.

My theory is that the best genes concentrate in better looking individuals. Better looking mates get chosen first. Better looking DNA routinely mates with all sorts of other positive qualities. Wealth, ambition, personality... over many generations, all of it. Attractive people also tend to be wealthier and wealthier people have more interesting hobbies.

Also less to prove. More inherent self-worth. More confidence. They also benefit from Halo effect.

There are always exceptions of course. But for the most part the hotter, the more insecure because her world revolves around her looks, and again, not by choice.

There is nothing inherently connective. It’s more about how the world interacts with you which isn’t the same for everyone. There are mothers who put a lot of emphasis on their daughter’s looks and try to live their youth through their daughters (think Beauty Pageant moms), which creates a situation where those girls aren’t able to develop a personality of their own. It’s very similar to fathers with their sons in sports. They vicariously live through their kids. When my mom was a child, her mother would have her stand next to other girls so the mothers could compare their looks.

Disregarding absolutely shitty people with horrible personality and/or major lack of social intelligence, a woman will most likely treat a man well when he is of value to her. It is not too different other way around, and it is why mate value is so important. For example, a hot woman with reasonable social intelligence can still treat people like shit cause she knows what she can get away with. But if you present her with someone she wants to keep around, she will act differently. It is important to know one’s own mate value and be with someone who would very much appreciate that value.

I don’t think there is a set way of this but all assumptions can be true and often are.

I think it’s generally a fact that personality are partly a result of how the world responds to you. And I agree that the world respond differently to you based on your looks. But I don’t agree that bad looking people are more insecure than good looking one’s. Pretty people might have more confidence overall because they have been given compliments all their life, but I don’t think they have the same amount of self worth.. self worth comes from loving yourself regardless of your looks and that’s maybe a practice that uglier people have been forced to do while pretty people didn’t.

In regards to bad personality traits and habits, I don’t think that really have a lot to do with looks. More upbringing and experiences. I have met pretty people with bad personalities and bad looking people with bad personalities.. but, pretty people with bad personalities are more dangerous because people are blinded by their looks.

That being said. I’m a pretty girl and my first boyfriend was not pretty. He did cheat on me because of insecurity.. pretty people can be less likely to cheat because they simply are used to the attention and it’s not a sort of once in a lifetime opportunity when someone what’s to have sex with you.

When I was a younger man, I tolerated a lot of bad and highly toxic personality traits to be with a physically attractive woman.

As an older man, I find them to be almost inseparable for anything other than a one night stand. I wouldn't be in a relationship with the most beautiful woman in the world if she had an awful personality.

That's a big generalization. I know quite a few confident unattractive women who are completely spoiled, mean, and selfish. I also know quite a few insecure attractive women who are compassionate, wholesome, and kindhearted. Additionally, a perfect 10 can easily turn into a -100 with a bad personality. This reeks of the nice guy vs bad boy trope. People are complex and do not fit in trope boxes.
