I think too many people shouldn't be in any commited relationship, like, ever. They're so fucked up beyond repair mentally they'll never find anyone they'll be happy with. So I think the answer is no.

This is untrue at least because the ratios are uneven across geographic areas/age groups. If there is 9 women for every 10 guys or vice versa, we are in one giant game of musical chairs. Someone has to be left out.

Theoretically? Absolutely. Of the billions of humans on earth there’s got to be at least one person out there who’s a perfect match for you.

In reality? No. 25% of men never get married. Of the remaining 75% who knows how many are in bad relationships or just got married because they got a girl pregnant. Your chances of actually meeting the perfect woman aren’t zero but they’re not very high either.

I think only someone very young or unexperienced or someone who has an abundance of suitors to choose from would ever hold that to be true. To us poor fucks it's truly a desert. Many women also have this perception because they're fiercely competing over the top 20% of men. Just go check the bitterness of the average poster in the Chad Chaser subreddit (FemaleDatingStrategy).

The gender ratio in the marriage age range is like 130:100 last I checked. So no it's not even mathematically true, and even then there's the problem of women mostly not being in public anymore in my experience

Objectively, no. Not even taking into account how some people's location, status, or health make the odds of them ever finding someone basically nothing, non-monagamouas relationship dynamic, lgbtq+ and early deaths of potential partners, there is simply an uneven number of available people.

I don’t know if believe in “someone for everyone” just because some people do end up single, and some people genuinely want to be single, no kids. It’s a relatively modern idea that everyone gets paired up. A couple hundred years ago there were large groups of people that never married or had children; think nuns and monks, family servants etc.

Some of the people I see coupled and having kids, yes, I truly believe that. I think the general pessimism and resignation of guys when it comes to sexual success is what's causing most of their troubles. There are plenty of women for everyone. They keep making them.

Definitely not. For one, the number of men and women isn’t even the same, and when you factor in LGBT, Polyamorous, asexual, the arithmetic gets even more wonky.

Then you get the top 10% of guys having more than their share of women and the bottom 50% of men basically having zero access to sex.

Nah, but IMO the numbers aren't as bad as a lot of people say it is here. I would guess that roughly like ~95% of people can find somebody they can be happy with.

If you see yourself as a part of that small % that can't find anybody, you will ironically have a higher chance of being right, because it will often show.

Most men will struggle to find someone as most women want chads. The top tier men are in demand are wanted for obvious reasons, most women do find someone to be with unlike men, but they're usually settling for less than what they want.

In the way. There are a lot of people that you'll be fine with. Some of them will be fine with you. Your goal is just find one of them. And you can change what kind of people will like you by changing things in your life. Doesn't mean that your success is guaranteed of course.

I think people who have good boundaries, don’t stay in relationships that aren’t working, can keep their neuroticism under control, and can be sincere in their motivations and proceed in good faith, can find people who would love them.

I think most human beings have the probability throughout their lives to find at least a handful of individuals they will connect with in terms of attraction, physical relationship, and potential domestic partnership.

On average, it seems most people will have at least a few long-term relationships throughout their lives, with a smattering of less committed and long lasting relationships interspersed throughout.

Whether or not any one of those is the actual soulmate concept we've been sold by media in this society is unlikely, but it won't matter, because during the brief period of time you're actually in love with someone, it will feel like they are. And you can return to telling yourself that thirty years after you've been married if you need a reason to stay with them.

The rest is a matter of where you are in life as individuals, how willing you are to compromise and commit yourselves to something that often has nothing to do with your own happiness, and whether you can deal with your own behavioral deficits in order to make a relationship work long-term.

Sort of. Rather than there being The ONE! I think there are varying degrees of compatibility that people have with one another. Most people will have some small percentage of other people that they are suitably compatible with. I'm not sure what that percentage is though (10%? 1%? .01%? .000001%? Variability depending on the person I suppose). Then the trick is how do you meet those people, particularly if you are in the smaller number ranges in terms of compatibility percentages.

So, my answer is, yes there is someone for everyone, this does not mean you'll find your someone or that you cannot fuck it up with your someone. It also doesn't mean you'll want the someone that is for you especially if you're not in a good mental space.

Most people can negotiate and adapt to accommodate a partner. In the Western SMP, heterosexual women have far fewer incentives to pair off because they can exist comfortably (hitting 4/5 out of Maslow's hierarchy) without having to negotiate with or adapt to a partner to whom they are not viscerally attracted.

For our part, heterosexual men have even more incentive to negotiate or adapt for a partner because it's very difficult for us to find intimacy in general, let alone outside the confines of a formal relationship.

I don’t believe in “the one”. I think there are multiple people out there that you could get along with enough to make a relationship work but with today’s dumpster fire of a dating market I don’t think it’s possible for the majority of people to find someone to settle down with anymore. Men and women just want completely different things and men specifically are trying to get everything from women without ever giving women what they want in return. This has lead to women walking away from relationships. Why do you think women aren’t on dating sites in equal numbers to men? Men like to talk all the time about the ratio, but they never ask women what would make them want to participate on a dating site. Women might not be making a lot of noise with podcast like men are but in female only spaces it’s obvious. Women are done. If one or both genders are disgruntled then there is no relationships to be had.
