I hear a lot of conflicting opinions on "negging."

Some hate it. Some love it. Some misunderstand the meaning of it.

It's probably the least offensive TRP concept to me, but mostly because my frontal lobe is jokes and banter.

I personally flirt with everyone via playful roasts and well planted compliments.

Hence, I can't be upset with a bunch of men doing it too.

The problem arises, like almost all things TRP, when it goes from intuitive naturals bantering with an ease and ebb and flow.. to people treating it like an alien methodical process and accosting people with unearned "humor" and ill-timed conversation.

I follow this guy on Instagram who's a friend of a friend.

One of the things he's done to increase his "SMV" in TRP parlance is make a joke of playfully negging his female peers with this

Him: "You're one of the most beautiful girls I've ever met in my life"

Her: "Awww thanks"

Him: "Now walk away from me"

Her: “😯” and/or “😂”

thing.

Examples: One and Two and Three.

His is a more extreme example because it doesn't involve banter per se -- just enough social clout (he's in a frat) and playful disposition.

Anyway,

  • What are your thoughts on "negging" or what many of us refer to as playful banter?

  • Do you find men and women who razz to be "assholes"? And if so what constitutes "asshole" to you?

  • Do you find that people who are comfortable with one another naturally do this?

  • Is it an extro thing?

  • Is it a thing only humorous men and women enjoy?
