The idea of being loyal to one person forever is appealing to me, and I’m attracted to women so that’s why it makes sense for me.

I’m not sure how common it is for other guys — but personally I wouldn’t be comfortable having sex with most women unless I’ve known her for a while and know we get along well.

I dont know if other other men share the same sentiments as I do, so I wont pretend to speak on behalf of all men when answer this. Looking at my experiences of living on this planet as a young man in his 20’s, life can often have you feeling like a cog. A small insignificant cog turning to keep this machine we call society working.

And even though you work as diligently as your capable of, you still get the sense that if your were to ever stop “turning” and disappear that life would find another cog would just take up the void that you left. Then all would be the same as if you never left. All this to drive home the fact that in the grand scheme of things, maybe you dont really matter all that much.

However going through life you learn to accept these things as reality and the majority of the time you can push the more morbid aspects of the society we live in, to the back of your mind. But there are times when those ruminating thoughts can hit you hard.

All this to is to emphasize what I crave most in a romantic relationship. For someone to look at me and through their own volition decide that I’m not some replaceable “cog” but someone thats worthy of their time and love. I wouldn’t care one bit if i was practically invisible to the entire world as long as when I come home I was seen as something precious in the eyes of the woman I’m in a relationship with.

I'm guilty of hating on women but not intentionally my main point when I do that is to point out gender differences.

Female friends are better than male friends, I work with and am naturally around enough masculine energy. Shits exhausting.

Good women add a lot of value to men's life, and for most men I think the end goal is love, marriage, family and a bond that not everyone is lucky enough to experience.

So many relationships are toxic and both sides are typically to blame, but it's easy to understand why the sexes are jaded against eachother.

With the rise of modern feminism it's especially easy to see why so many men are pointing out the gender differences, the system favors women and the biological advantages we hold over women are basically (being attempted) to be erased while women maintain all of their social advantages over us.

So we're socially and systematically disadvantaged. It's unfair and when you work so hard and don't have what you think you should, it's hard

I think the problem with this question is the core assumption that you can pick and choose random elements from a larger culture and they will add together into a full and fulfilling life. The reality is that the "just build bonds with your male friends, pay for sex/hookup when you can, and create the lifestyle you want" dream is completely unfulfilling when you put it all together. There's no thread connecting it together.

However, having a relationship with someone does have a strong thread that makes it worth most of the potential downsides.

This isn't usually a commentary on women in general. Instead, it has more to do with the quality of modern women who are in these men's dating pool. The quality is shit, that's why they aren't valuable. However, it could be so much better!

A lot of people seek stability, but also sexuality is a strong influencer towards what we're attracted to.

A lot of people also want meaningful connections, I imagine after many on and off relationships for some it becomes monotonous enough where they then seek a more stable partner if they weren't after that already. The only way you start a family is through stability, if a person wants to go beyond their self.

I don't believe in degrading women, though many here may disagree. I actually see modern feminism as degrading to women. Of course a man who doesn't want kids, is happy to have hookups or see prostitutes, or isn't event attracted to women would not believe a woman would add value to his life. I personally want to get married, & romantic relationships are how marriage happens in our society. I want to get married because I want sex & children. Having sex through friends, prostitution, or hookups would go against my beliefs. The lifestyle I want is to have a wife & children.
