You're leaving out an important qualifier here: the ages of the people involved.

A 30-year-old woman isn't going to see a 27-year-old as a child. A 21-year-old woman might see a guy who legally can't even buy his own drinks in the U.S. and is getting his fakes confiscated as a child.

But you read the gross-out factor completely wrong. Every woman has had a disgusting older man/authority figure/family friend/coworker after her. Women remember how disgusted and icky it feels to have a man dad’s or teacher’s age flirting or propositioning her years before she felt physical sexual attraction for boys her own age.

I've been the younger one in most of my relationships. I've had women bitch older established guys pass them up for college age girls while simultaniously sleeping with me when the age gap is comparable. Older women sleeping with younger men has become a pretty consistent trope of the online era and you can see no shortage of articles written by the women dointlg it. Hell I've known more than my share of older women who will gladly fuck a guy half their age if he's hot and plenty of them will try to shame men who do the same.

IME the whole thing is just oure hypocrisy. There's no shortage of women in their 30's, 40's, 50's, and even 60's who'll freely fuck a young hot stud if they have the chance. The only real difference is younger men are assumed to have actual agency while younger women are considered dumb sheep for predatory men.

Total cap. Women will date younger (speaking from experience). I can say though that on my end it's all physical. I'd never take those ladies seriously. They're too old to give me children, and even if I didn't care about that, the fact that they could have a whole ass kid with someone, yet still wind up back in the streets (AKA the dating market) instead of working things out with the father is a red flag.

You do the most important thing you could do with a man as a woman, yet still cast that man aside at the end of the day? Not saying the man is totally blameless, but come on now.... besides, with the growing number of middle aged women who will be single and childless in the future, don't kid yourselves into thinking they won't be out here hooking up. There may be a wall after which it's hard for a woman to lock down a high value man in a relationship, but there's no wall on getting some D.

Women over 30, actually find men a little bit younger to be more attractive, on average, and it’s not uncommon for them to find at least some men who are notably younger to be very attractive, although this is stronger in men. Women have a lot more opportunities to get involved with younger people than do men— but they are less likely to actually pursue this. An average 30 year old woman could find and hook up with an attractive 23 year old on OLD, but most of the time she isn’t doing so.

And the double standard is very clear: very few men will date older woman from a certain age onwards, or even their own age. From 45 onwards or so, men will be looking for women who are much younger, and for older age cohort, the possibility of a woman to find a man her own age is very small, let alone a younger man, because men are trying to date (and marry) women who are significantly younger than them.

None of the older women I date have ever told me that they see me as a child, not even the women who have turned me down. They just either don't find me attractive or they aren't interested in a guy like me.

And I have been getting the female gaze ever since I was in high school so I doubt women see guys of a certain age as children unless a guy really does in fact have a baby face or hasn't hit his growth spurt or still has the mentality of a child and doesn't act his age.

Also, women do not take younger men seriously, so yes I consider that a yellow flag. They may be cool for a short term thing, a fling, and even as being a FWB or a sidepiece but for a true relationship or something more serious or committed that's where women aren't too interested anymore. The excuse I get is always the same, they say that cause of my age I'm gonna think with my dick and cheat with a younger woman.

Age gaps fuck your relationship up in subtle ways.

My last gf was 11 years younger than me. 44-33 when we met. I was on the fence about that before we met in person, but it was the only negative during the pre-meeting chat so I decided to ignore it.

Well, it turns out I derive a lot of my sense of self worth when I’m around younger people from being older and wiser. And there were times I definitely was wiser than her. But I had to keep my mouth shut so as not to be acting like I was trying to be her dad, and look like I didn’t know any better, losing her respect (or my own self respect which I projected back from her - same result)

Then when I met her family. There was nobody there within 10 years of me in age. Gf’s generation was 30s, her parents’ 50s, some older, some kids, and then there’s a random forty year old guy that doesn’t belong in this picture at all.

She also liked to give me shit about my age, which could be funny, but not when I was already down, and I spent most of that year at rock bottom

I'm in my late thirties. I think I look late 30s. I get a lot of attention from men between 22 and 28. I go on date(s) with someone "too young" over half a dozen times per month. We have fun. Excellent conversation. Charming. Green flags everywhere. Rarely is there not chemistry. I love to make out. We do it for hours. No one ever pressures me for sex. I bet I see these guys an average of three times each. I rarely ever end up having sex with them. Only two in total, and those two I was involved with each exclusively for quite a stretch of time.

I go out with more of them then men my own age because they are often more assertive, charming, and make an effort. They come up with great places. Unique activities. Some of them charming. Some of them sweet. All of them respectful. Great men.

Am I being seen as an obtainable cougar fantasy? Because, the extent of attention I get from this age group is imo high. I'm pretty. I'm not sexy. A 7 not a 10.

Times are changing, women are dating younger men more readily. Across the population this is only 25% or so but factoring in much of this is within the last few dates the demographs of 20-40 and 40+ likely look very different in breakdowns. It might be accompanying the fact more women are now also breadwinners.

I think in the majority of cases women are more marriage minded and as such don’t date younger because they want a partner or even a leader as where men tend to focus more on casual relationships and as such primarily see women as sex objects and don’t care what else women might bring to the table other than good looks. The difference in goals is what sets men and women apart regarding age range is acceptable for dating.

I am 22 years old. I'm about to date someone I can't go into a bar with. Where am I to meet an 18-19-20-year-old in the first place? I'm not in university anymore, and I know I don't frequent places where people of those ages hang out. The only way for me to meet someone that age is if I am actively seeking them out, and that is my problem with age gap relationships. They do not happen naturally.
