If your arguing for a god damn hour to an idiot about semantics and the meaning of words, you should probably just let them think they won and move on with your life.

Responding and debunking dumb conjectures takes far more effort than creating said conjectures.

If you dont make the predicates of the debate clear, you both will only end up talking over each other

Dont take the people here too seriously, you will have a stroke and a lot of time lost debating them.

Call out vague terms when you see it.

Most people will speak to you in a condescending tone, and will spit out ad hominims, but do not lose your temper, and resist the urge to strike back and fight fire with fire. Instead respond respectfully each time.

Always remember to take debates in context, you are usually debating about a situation, a statistic, or a question, or even a short essay, be vigilant against any attempts to take things out of context, or moving past the intended debate.

Pick your fights wisely

Don't get carried away with bias claims, they do not have the power to disprove a conclusion or a point, they only have the power to suggest that said conclusion may not have been arrived through pure logical analysis.

A fairly effective method of debunking is to list out the implications of a conclusion, and if those implications are absurd, you can call the conclusion absurd and reject it for being absurd. It is one I come tend to use.

Do make an effort to identify and avoid bad faith trolls, there is nothing anyone can gain by arguing with them.

Do be careful if you decide to accuse your opponent of a straw man, he/she could have easily either listed the implications of your conclusions, your say that your conclusion is a part of a greater set of positions.

Try to identify if you and your opponent have the same topic of disagreement, if not stop arguing with them.

Also, this subreddit name should be changed to r/gender_studies_lite. A lot of these posts don’t even address pill ideology or things related to them.

For most of my life I've been pretty sheltered from the concept of divorce and I shouldn't take that for granted. It's a rarity in my family, to say the least.

I was always looking from the outside. Even at Catholic schools there are a few divorced/blended families. We weren't really supposed to talk about that, or ask any questions. Everyone put on a happy face and pretended to be civil.

PPD gives me a taste of what may have been going on behind the scenes. From one side, anyway. Looks pretty rough.

I never really thought about female sexual hypergamy until I came here. I mean, it was obvious to me personally that it was easier to attract women who were impressed by my good qualities, and that it was easier to attract less physically attractive women than ones who were closer to my level in attractiveness, but I never really thought about it being some kind of universal or nearly universal female attribute that had some kind of evolutionary purpose.

Other than that, I still think that women are all pretty different from each other and that a lot of RP generalizations about women serve no other purpose than being heuristics about attracting the "average woman" rather than some kind of science about the nature of women.

As a cynical bastard, I sometimes come here to feel normal. This sub is where all the extremes come together, and it's not pretty. It's mostly a circle jerk with all sides using their jargon, arguing on technicalities, and the occasional baiting or trolling. The world views are incompatible and shall remain so.

While technicalities and pure philosophies are entertaining and all it is good to go back to real life and realize that on average, people don't fit into these extreme belief systems. It may be beneficial to develop a general initial stance for dating and relationships, but at the end of the day, the people you meet will not fit into those boxes or be predictable as you would expect from any one theory.

Humans are freaking complicated man, and these pill systems and extreme beliefs are fragile like card houses.

When someone is going to lose an argument the most common tactic they revert to is "Moving the Goal posts" or Gas-lighting you. In both cases bring it back to the subject or have them quote the "Gas-light".

I'm surprised at how many women there are, who truly do want that one special guy, who fulfills her wishlist, but doesn't actually want them for sex... or at least, not until they've been married a while.

That you have to feel sorry for women. Women construct their own destruction. They don't seem to have good analytical or discernment skills, and don't really seem to be good at long term planning. I knew that about guys, how guys are dumb, slow, etc but I thought women were smarter, which is laughable wrong.

I guess the biggest lesson I've learned is that women see men as utilities and as an older man getting up there in age, I have to see them the same way.

And if your not first, your a first place loser, meaning that women will marry for stability and comfort, and will tell you after years of being together that she never loved you, she loves the things you have.

I knew guys were dicks and treated women with outright abuse, but women loved it. I was shocked, the minute I ignore a girl she likes me, but the moment I try to be nice, she freaks out and it 's tiresome, since we are long past uni days.

I was a sent a private message by a user who told me about Vasiliy Zaitzev "The Problem of Marriage post" and despite all the negatives women bring into a marriage (student loan & credit card debt, stds, contact with former fwb on social media, high n, arrogance, indifference, baggage, trauma, drinking and drugs problems,etc) I still stupidly want to believe in love and marriage.

My parents have been together for almost 30 years, my grandparents have been together for almost 55 years, I want that, but I realized after being in PPD expecting much from women is a fool errands.

All I want is the kid to be mine (mandatory DNA test), for her not to cheat (women cheat, just don't let me or any one I know find out, and wear condoms).

I know sex dries up, especially when kids get into the picture, so I won't cheat or nag, but I'll probably Jack off once a week, so I don't go crazy. I'll make sure to cook and clean and watch those Gordon Ramsey Master class videos and hire cleaning services to do the deep cleaning. I'll be involved in my biological kid's life and not bother the wife with my emotional problems because women want you to be that unbreakable rock. And I will mentally and financially (move extra income into trusted family or friends private account where no one, but me may access it) prepare for divorce because the statistics are not in my favor (40% divorce rate, 70% initiated by women)
