There is a common pattern with dating sites that is indicative of one of the biggest problems in the dating scene in general. Back when OKC used to amass all this research data on their customers they discovered this pattern.

Generally speaking people who are dating are looking either to hook up or to find a real relationship. Unfortunately one of the biggest obstacles in getting what you want for most people is that people lie and go for the opposite of what they really want. This seems to be the case for the majority of single and looking people.

Guys or girls who just want to get laid pretend they are looking for relationships and girls or guys who want relationships pretend they are DTF, or indifferent to emotional attachment.

Tinder was an app designed specifically for hooking up. However as it got more popular, it got flooded with people looking for relationships. They are by far the majority on there now. But by design it is not good for finding a real match or compatible personality. You barely write anything. The majority of information is a quick photo.

Because of this it now seems like an inferior service both to those goals. If you are looking to hook up you will be disappointed because you will find mainly people who want relationships, and they often can see through your intentions and don't want the same thing. And if you are looking for love you will be disappointed because it's really just not built for that.

It also seems like women are less looking forward to communicating with me. It used to be so easy with a simple hello. No bullshit, flirt, exchange numbers then work from there. Now, its like; hello... No response, better use some shit pickup line.. Hope it works, then when you do get a response and you think you have something they just end up not responding or respond late af.

I still get matches here and there but the good ones are always too far so I end up matching with girls I don't really want to engage with in the first place.

The problem with Tinder for me (and a lot of other mobile swiping dating apps) is fake profiles. I live in a small town and it's VERY obvious which are fake now.

Average 20 to 40 matches a day, but I swipe on anything

Will engage or message 75% of those.

2 to 4 dates a week.

Look Tinder is like Online Poker. It used to be easy as shit, now only the naturals or hard workers will succeed. I continue to push on forward with text and date game while others quit. Make it easier for me.

Same thing with Bumble and Feeld/3Nder

Yes. I'm 24, when that Apple came out, everyone was DTF. Now all people want is to stay in and not go out. Girls are looking for serious relationship using an app that's meant to be used for sex. Same goes for guys. They care more about their Netflix, than they do about meeting new people.

Tinder has become more mainstream, certainly, and so the specific demographic it appealed to initially (looking for a lay) has been flooded with more conventionally minded folk.

Normalization of online dating yields a unique advantage to those willing to approach others in person. You stand out far and above their reference point of expectations on forwardness and interest. Even still, to say you "met on tinder" is often ubiquitously mumbled under ones breath before the topic is quickly changed.

I say this is a golden era of two kinds - where a significant portion of the dating pool is available through online dating (cast large nets then filter being the winning strategy), but also, the "normal" method of approaching attractive or charming individuals in person now stands out as more authentic, and genuine.

Literally experiencing the same thing mate. Once or twice I would get 70 matches a day but an average of ten matches a day. It's gone down hill to like one or two decent matches. Been wondering if my standards are just going up or if tinder is dying.

I went back on after more than year and it's different...I live about 45 minutes away from one of the biggest cities in Canada and I swear I swipe left 99% of the time, after a minute I just close it. Ponds drying up it seems.

Used to kill it on there a couple of years back, now I still get matches but the quality is lower. I put it down to my age now being above the upper limit that girls are looking for (I'm 34, looking for girls 18 - 27). Having said that, many people have commented that it's got shit now. No one seems to know why.

I've been on for the last 8 days and got 11 matches. Like somebody else said, it seems just simply opening with a hello doesn't elicit a response anymore. I'm down to 6 matches now because I got removed by a few fake profiles. Asked two girls to meet me, they said yeah, but nothing materialized yet. I'm just rambling at this point and I agree that it seems to be goin to shit.

for me at least it seems people make profiles and simply forget about it. Ending up not using the app at all. Or noone wants to swipe right on me. :(
