I feel like you're falling into a very common trap that feminism has sprung on countless of it's opponents since it's incarnation. Disagreeing with feminism does not mean you are a misogynist, nor does advocating for men's rights mean you hate women. The problem is that feminists often equate feminism to women as a whole, and therefore any argument against their rhetoric is a crime against the entire female gender. Don't allow doubt and remorse to fill you're head because of feelings of guilt stemming from the propaganda that's infiltrated the mainstream.

Or maybe you are starting to just hate women in general, I don't know. :P

I know that feel. I can get pretty worked up when I see men forced to suffer inequality. I get filled with impotent rage at men's suffering that I can do nothing about. I get very mama-bear about my step-sons whenever these issues involve them. Don't even get me started on when it involves my husband.

How do I deal? Breath. I just try to make a difference where I can. I try to tell my male loved ones that they have rights, I try to point out double-standards. I try to tell them that we should strive for equality, and if I screw up and treat them with a double-standard, I appologize and make ammends the best I can. I try to be encouraging. When I am given something (a gift, a favor, sex), I try to express that I am appriciative of it. I try to do something in return.

Its tough for one person to make a big difference, but if every "one person" did these sorts of things and didn't let inequalities slide, it would make a HUGE difference.

Hang in there, and remember, not all women are that bad. Some really do love men and treat them right.

TLDR: I do what I can to be the difference, and remember that those horrible women are just a sampling, not the whole.

If you're being sincere, and I feel that you are (though, sadly, part of me is suspect that this may be a troll post), I have to say in answer to your question that I like to focus my thoughts on all of the women who have been good to me throughout my life. That helps a lot.

It also helps when women speak-up on our behalf. Let me tell you a story:

My sister used to enjoy humiliating me in front of other people. I'm not sure why she did, but she would bash me in front of other people and think it was funny. Whatever I did, no matter how innocuous it was, she would try to twist it around and portray me as a fool. Whether I was clearing dishes off the table, or completing a masters' degree, she'd always make fun of me no matter what it was that I was doing. In fact, she owns a small business and she instructed her staff that if I ever come into the waiting area, they were free to be nasty towards me (I don't think they ever carried-out the instruction very seriously). She honestly feels that it's her right to be mean to her younger brother if she wants to.

I would occasionally stand-up for myself by giving her the same treatment, but she would lose her temper instantly and threaten violence against me. She would literally threaten to kick me in the balls if I gave her a taste of her own medicine. So I ended-up feeling like my hands were tied and I fell into this safe pattern of brushing-off her aggression and pretending as if it didn't bother me. But she would always come back at some point to do it again in the future with some little barbs or whatever. Then, one day, a woman who really loved me happened to be my side when she did it. My sister tried to play this game again and tried to get my woman to join-in on bashing me. As if my sister expected my girlfriend to join-in on the fun.

But it didn't work. My woman put her arms around me and said "Please don't tease him any more."

My sister shot back "I'm his sister, I can be as mean to him as I want!" Followed by her big laugh.

But that's when it pretty much stopped. Just like that. It hasn't happened much since. My sister got the message that what she was doing was hurtful. Not only hurtful to me, but hurtful to another woman as well. My woman protected me in a way that I could never do for myself.

So this was a little example of the great power that women have to defend men. I fully recognize that women can be powerful, and when they choose to use their power to help men, it can often help a lot more than what you'd imagine. So my woman helped me in a significant way, and I will never forget that.

(Today, my sister only bad-mouths about me in front of her children, other relatives and pretty much anyone else. But not in front of my woman and I. So I suppose everything is comparatively better now.)

I find the quite a few men and women are generally stuck in the older ways like men paying for diners etc, this is difficult for guys because you don't know if she wants to be treated like an equal or as special, if you get it wrong you will offend her (paying half and you're a cheap skate and paying all and you're a traditionalist) a lot of women have gained power which is good but they haven't taken the responsibilities that comes with it.

Then there are women like the one going out on dates so she could get free meals, men are stuck in a difficult place, many women look for a man willing to commit to them but with people who use the guys it makes them trust women less then men get moaned at for having commitment issues.

Theres a very easy way to rectify this. Treat women like men. If theyre being ridiculous just refuse to take the bullshit. To a large extent in my life this has worked. Ill have to never get married or have kids though. Having kids is something i will want one day though. That said i filtered through a lot of entitled bitches and found a girl who just wants an equal loving relationship. Minimal bullshit. Life is good.

Misogyny is an easy word to throw around, and is used frequently by Feminists at MRAs erroneously. MRAs don't hate women as a whole, but we do dislike, at varying degrees, the particular women who are pushing for further inequality, and continue to stereotype and denigrate men. So it's based on their actions, not the fact that they are women, but I will concede that it's sometimes easy for MRAs to fall in to the trap of generalizing all women as being guilty of perpetuating the acceptability of this negative behaviour.

The reason for this I fear is simply the unfamiliarity with most of the population of mens rights issues. We are all familiar with feminism, it's culturally ingrained in the societies that most of us come from (the US and Europe). And while some of us know more about it than others, that core belief that it (in theory) represents, that women should not be treated unfavourably because of their gender, is something I would consider that any sane minded person would agree with. But there isn't that same core belief in many people that men should have that same consideration, and a lot of this is because it's not something many people have considered. I wont go in to arguing why this is the case, as that's a very long discussion about the influence of feminism in the media etc, but I'm sure that most, if not all of us in the MRM have had a situation where they've presented an argument of discrimination against men to someone. There are those who would just dismiss it completely, and they tend to be those which many describe as capital F feminists (or much worse, depending on the circumstances), but generally there is consideration of the argument (if it's well made), followed by "enlightenment" if you will, a realisation that it's not just women who are discriminated against. I've had the latter occur far more frequently than the former when discussing these issues with women, and that's usually the thought I fall back on when I feel the urge to make some sort of off-hand comment about women all being the same in these discussions, that many women, when presented with this truth, will realise it, and that it's simply through a lack of understanding or time spent considering it, rather than willful ignorance. There will always be those capital F feminists, and just general arseholes who will keep their ignorance, but there are plenty of male arseholes in the world too, so in the end it doesn't come down to gender, but just the arseholishness that unfortunately many people in the world, of all genders and sexual orientations, are inflicted with.

People are people, and a lot of people will be exploitative and abusive if they can get away with it, and even more so if they are encouraged to do it. Men and women both. The trouble isn't that women suck - they do, some of them, and so do men - it's that we have a society that condones women's exploitative and abusive behavior but penalizes men for the same.

So don't hate women for their shitty behavior - hate the culture that facilitates and condones it.

One thing to keep in mind is that the two sexes have competing reproductive interests and this creates sexual conflict which is observed in all sexually reproducing animals, including humans. The battle of the sexes is real and eternal. A well-functioning society will minimize these intrinsic conflicts.

My personal experience is NAWALT. I've seen other guys get screwed by women, but all the ones I've been involved with personally have been decent people. So apart from changing the culture, one has to be careful about the character of the women one associates with.

Sounds like you needed a good vent. I'll agree, there are plenty of women who are willing to rape you for every ruble you've got. These types will also depend on male disposability without considering consequence outside themselves. However, I don't have a tough time curbing my more irrational thoughts regarding women. This is because there are too many great women in my life, namely my girlfriend and my two sisters. At times it may feel like searching for a needle in a haystack, but rest assured, they're there somewhere.

I think some subtle hints of misogyny occasionally creep up on me, and I know it's a problem to which I have to pay close attention. If I everallow myself to actually hate women, then I have lost contact with my humanist side and become the enemy.

Whenever I'm faced with that, I first try to focus on the women I've known and loved, and the ones I still do. What was it about them that I loved? Good memories and great present experiences are easy to come by. Of course women are great, just as men are great. Hell, people are great. Trying to have a positive outlook towards life is a must, and if this ball is dropped, we're screwed.

Then it takes a great amount of mental energy to clear up in my mind why I like and dislike some common traits on the many women I've met. The nature vs. nurture debate is of great importance here: generally speaking, it all comes down to self-entitlement, and I don't see how that can be a natural thing, therefore it makes no sense to hate women as a whole.

But I can allow myself to dislike many aspects of feminine culture, and I don't consider this misogynous behavior. I reject gossip and the superficial obsession with make-up, hair and shopping, the size queens, the bimbos, but more than that, I intensely hate the self-victimization in many women. I see it as a trap that ensnares many of them by posing itself as a shortcut to power over men, although I imagine most of them are not aware of that. I heavily dislike the dissimulation, the passive-aggressiveness and the way that women allow themselves to lose control, getting themselves into crying or yelling fits to try to manipulate you, and they beat you up and throw things at you as though it was kid's play, thinking of themselves as nothing but quirky little girls. As if that wasn't violence. In all honesty, I've never seen guys behave this way.

And most of all, I hate the double standard. I hate the way no women, especially no feminist I've ever known ever gets themselves doing the mental exercise of gender-reversal. Take a specific situation involving conflict between a man and a woman and reverse the sex of the involved, would your position of right or wrong remain the same? For example, would you be ok with men arguing that it's a woman's duty to pay for dinner? Women complain about body image issues, but do they ever refrain from commenting on men's sexual performances or social statuses? This really pisses me off.

Call it misogyny or just realism, but what the situation and waking up to it has done to me is that it changed my assumptions. I've been raised to assume that women are made of sugar and spice and everything nice, and change my opinion if they show sings of being a bad person (and even then, most of the bad behavior is excused). So now, I just assume a woman is an immature, spoiled, egotistical and hypocritical brat. In a sense, what feminism says women were treated like throughout history, so all their work could be called a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of course, that is just a starting assumption, so if I interact with a woman who can show me she is mature, reasonable and compassionate, I'll be pleasantly surprised. But if she then starts playing the victim card, throws a tantrum or displays strong signs of entitlement behavior, I'll go back to my original assumption about her. And it's happened a few times: meet a girl, assume she's a child, start talking to her, find her reasonable, change my mind, girl reverts to standard obnoxious behavior, looses all respect and consideration I may have had for her.

It's basically a gender reversal of "any man can be a rapist", just replacing danger with annoyance.

I don't. I'd think the guy was one of those types who keep the sequels of "the fast and the furious" still viable.

I realized that men had it bad when I was responding to messages on a dating website. It dawned on me. Men have to do everything- in a sense, all I have to do is lie here and I get what I want.

I don't know if you're exaggerating the ease with which you were able to obtain dates. But I'll take this opportunity to mention my experience with online dating. I'm straight. The profile that I had created, and it was not all blank or anything, got something like 3 views from people in a whole year. And 2 of those three were men. And they weren't even gay. :( So they weren't guys who found me attractive.

I don't think I'm all hot stuff that everyone should flock to, but I don't think I look especially ugly. I am in shape, my face doesn't have acne, I maintain a pretty trendy haircut, and no one is even willing to look at it. My dress sense is a bit too casual I guess, but is that really such a big problem?

I'm not single now, but I can imagine a lot of other guys having similar difficulties. And it's especially comforting to learn that someone who isn't a man can empathize with that.

Apart from the chasing, wooing and having kids taken away I don't mind the other stuff. Chasing and wooing is just so difficult because you can already see the lack of interest in you (like on the dating site). In my head, it always looks like being a salesman. Trying to schmooze the buyer into a purchase which he/she doesn't really want.

I just could never do it. I am a terrible salesman. My skills at selling something don't go beyond "take it or leave it". And that philosophy extends to penis size as well, so I was never especially bothered by that either.

If the very few women who proactively showed some interest hadn't been around, I don't know what I would've done.

Not so much because it'd hurt her feelings, but because she would be quite insistent. One girlfriend would be totally understanding when I'd say I was tired. My main problem is that I feel myself slowly growing more and more tired of women and their bullshit.

I don't know if that's the right attitude to take.

To be honest, while I recognize that what you say is generally true, I don't really feel misogynistic because of it. There are lots of men who are terrible dating partners as well. Generally I equate it to "people are fucking stupid, regardless of gender". People who are really healthy in the brain are far and few between in both genders.

I would approach this feeling though by remembering that the response to hatred isn't more hate, it's education. The end goal of all the discussion around gender inequality is supposed to be gender equality. That is, that being male, female or another gender really makes no difference in anyone's mind. Ignorant people who leech off others are simply that. If we support misogyny in response to misandry, we are no better than them. Every time we do, we give them something to fight against us with. We must be better, if we are to have the political power one day to unite all people into one cause for true gender equality.

So speak out, in education not in hate. Remind people they should support all humans, regardless of any other factor. Encourage your female friend who is complaining that the guy she likes who hasn't called yet to actually call him. He will appreciate it. Express your disgust at comments like "he had it coming".

If you want a positive story, my current girlfriend and I (I'm male) have been dating for ten months now. In those ten months, we've both picked up the cheque for the other person roughly equally. I got flowers on valentine's day. We're having a competition to see who can hold out the longest before buying the ring, but if she proposes first, I really won't care and plan to say yes. She really doesn't care what my penis looks like and she gives as good as she gets ;) (and she gets gooood). We've already agreed to an equal split of the child care costs and time-spent if we ever break-up after having a child (god forbid).

There are modern women out there who are truly on the side of real equality. As much as women have the right to demand her boyfriend doesn't beat or rape her, men have the right to demand their girlfriend contribute to the wooing. Personally, if I don't get some interest back, I assume you're not interested in me. I'm not going to chase you. If you want to play stupid games, I don't have time for you. If more men were like that, perhaps there would be less of a problem.

Reality is fucked up to our sense of fairness. I've got to either deny reality or learn to love it. I don't adapt as quickly or thoroughly as I'd like but it keeps me from feeling any sort of hatred for very long. Instead I change myself and plan around it. Paradoxically it's actually made me a far more compassionate person but not a nicer person.

I haven't articulated these thoughts before so hopefully I do it passably well. It doesn't do you any good to foster negative emotions toward women. It's certainly never done me any good. When I have negative emotions I channel them into understanding why I'm frustrated and how to fix it. What it's meant for me is the death of my inner white knight.

Without that leverage, women actually have very little emotional control over me. Without that control I can easily identify when a woman is being self-serving and when she's actually treating me like a human being. It's why I don't feel negative emotions for women due to their gender - I don't feel betrayed when they betray me because I no longer believe women are inherently moral.

I don't know what leverage women in general have over you but you should channel your frustration into identifying and dealing with it.

OP, I wonder if you just get annoyed with non-thinking people in general. I, too, am a feminist. And a masculinist (is that a word? Firefox says no.). I'm pro-individuals, according to their needs. I hate doing things just because of tradition - to me, that's a horrible reason to do ANYTHING. But I imagine that people just use that excuse because they don't want to think. Non-thinking people are a waste of space, I think. Argh!!!

I don't hate women, which I believe is the broad definition of misogyny, but yes I'm sure we all can sit and dwell on the negativity that certain groups of society can bring. But it's not just women, men can do evils too. All humans can do wrong.

Just be glad that if you get pregnant that you will be in control. Being a man, and getting a girl pregnant while you are not married means she has the decision of controlling the next 18 years of your life. To many of us, this is like a prison sentence.

It's that type of unsavory woman that I try so hard to avoid. I reject the line of thinking you've outlined above because it's discriminatory and plain wrong. I'm just glad that the woman I'm seeing (on and off, really) doesn't expect me to pay more than my share, though I have to force her to let me pay for things because I have too much money and she's broke. :P

I'd say that you're not becoming a misogynist, but increasingly intolerant to enforced tradition in gender roles. I respect that as well.

You're spot on about the dating website thing, too. I used to send messages to select OkC users with good profiles (most important) and decent or better faces/physique (less, but somewhat important), but it's like spotting a dolphin amidst many, many, many sharks. I just keep to myself and wait to see who bothers to reach me now, an unproductive yet amusing activity.

A lot of people are a waste of human skin, no matter their age, sex, race or religion. I know the kind of girls you're talking about, and I know some cool chicks as well. I also know some sad whimpering specimens of maleness, and some shitbags I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. And I know a few I'd like to have as brothers.

There is something dark at the root of both sexes, and some uncomfortable shit deep in the human psyche. Women might seem worse at the moment, but I believe it is because we've been pandering to them so much that few have had to develop anything resembling character, or even a personality.

Sounds like you need to expand your horizons a bit. I think a lot of young women go through phases where it feels like other women really do fit these stereotypes, but after more life experience they realize that it's really just humans in general that suck. I would hate for you to miss out on all the great things that come with female friendships just because of some bad experiences. I love my guy friends too, but having awesome women in your life is a wonderful thing.

The problem with this and all of your other examples is that they sound like some internet fantasy.

Every woman uses men? Not true. Men have to buy gifts? Not true. Men have to be awesome in bed? Not true. Men have to pay on dates? Not true. Women expect men to chase? Not true (men usually have to lead, but woman can, and a woman doesn't want to be chased as much as not left twiddling her thumbs). Women care about marriage and money on a scheduled timeline? Nope.

These women do exist. But so do murderers and rapists, it doesn't mean that every woman you meet is going to be like this. Nor that every nasty tale on the internet is a fair representation of what's likely to happen to you in life. Nor that (heaven forbid) the real life stories you know are anything other than people who have made horrible decisions.

If you ever meet someone like this, you can just walk away. There are good people out there. The rest, well, they can't interfere that much with our lives if we don't let them be a part of it.

Just because you want equality doesn't mean you have to stereotype and hate the other side. The typical woman walking down the street has had the same amount of input and knowledge on current gender equality laws as we have - none.

I'm sorry but this post is just ridiculous. The OP seems somewhat normal but she's just wanting to rant about her failed past relationships and get attention for it from all "neckbeads" of reddit.
The generalizations you make about women are completely condescending- "And women are JUST OKAY with using men. 'They deserve to be used! They had it coming! Don't you know about supply and demand? Women are just better, giggle.' BARF."... What???? I don't know ANY women that would say that! Yah, I get some weird extreme feminist might say that BUT the average woman? FUCK NO! So to say that your starting to hate all women because of a few bad apples is messed up. You can't go around hating groups of people because you met someone you didn't like- that will only breed ignorance and unnecessary hatred. Don't you think your energy can be better spent on something positive?

It seemed to me feminists live in a different world, based on what they say. After a few days reading /r/MensRights and mrm articles and listening some youtube videos I can say with certainty that mrm lives in a different world as well, just not in the same one as feminists. Open your fucking eyes. Find a different girlfriend/boyfriend if the one you're dating is an asshole. And stop exaggerating / overgeneralizing.
