My husband is asexual, and we haven't had sex in a couple of years.

When we were younger although PIV sex was a chore/he never lusted after me/never initiated sex, we had kink that we both shared/enjoyed, and I'd never cared much about the penis into the vagina.

As we got older and our shared kink wasn't so fun (switches who both got arthritis ) sex became like a chore to him. That was very hard for me, and at the time we didn't know about asexual people etc.

But my husband is a all-around great husband and my best friend. So he was worth it. Then I went through natural menopause and I could care less.

My husband's ex-girlfriends all seem to have come to the conclusion he was gay (but the best boyfriend ever), so no it wasn't me.

If it was not for both of us being into pain both ways I think I would have been an ex thinking he was the best boyfriend but gay also.

Very much not gay btw, he doesn't look at anyone sexually.

Probably depending on age group. Post epiphany phase women with their newfound maturity, wisdom, and pragmatism would be receptive to such an arrangement... so long as they could scratch that occasional sexual itch elsewhere.

Then there's also the consideration of social legitimacy aspect to consider, though I'm assuming the 'no consequence' part means that the value of such platonic marriage is the same as a regular marriage.

Anyway, probably not very popular. I mean women like sex, and most women find it easier than most men to get affection needs met through friends anyway. We don’t necessarily need a boyfriend to have someone to cuddle and have mutual emotional support with. In fact it’s pretty depressing, but I know more men who would take this option than women, due to not having the same kind of support in their lives.

If the guy was well off enough I’m sure there would be some women who would go for this. That’s how it was basically when women had to get married due to a career not being a viable option. Nowadays women mostly date for sexual and romantic attraction and don’t have to rely on men to survive financially anymore and men aren’t supporting two people on a single income anymore. So if there’s no attraction I don’t see what the appeal here would be to a non-asexual woman.

This would be more desirable if women could have sex outside of the relationship or marriage.

She would have the BB for stability, finances, raising children, day to day companionship, while also being have to have sex and date desirable men out of their league.

This is an attractive option for 7 and below women. You get to have your cake and eat it too. This is sort of what they do when it comes to AF/BB dating. Sleep with chad early on, but require the BB to wine and dine you and maybe they’ll get a crumb at the end.
