Why are women more likely to be victims of romance scammers?

I read on BBC an article from few years ago saying that women makeup the most victims of romance scams(63%). I also found out similar information on other sources albeit women are more likely to report it than guys.

But why? I even think it is a bit weird because people say that men are more likely to pay a woman to keep dating and having a relationship with them. Of course the scammers are often catfish and most people who catfish as women are actually men.

Why these scammers prefer to target women and what are the difference between making a man as a victim?

Sorry if I am answearing my own thread and I also do not want to appear sexist but I believe that women are more trustful and more agreeable on average than men and thus easier to be manipulated and they are also less likely to distinguish when things are legit or fake when they encounter things that are not obviously fake. An example is that women are more attracted by fake advertising and that is why beauty creams that claim to remove wrinkles and dark circles sell so much( I am graduated in Marketing)
