So no, that's not super surprising and I given what this is, I might have guessed a little higher for men/lower for women.

I think the 15+ range for n-counts says it all. 28.3% of men claim to be in that range while 12.9% of women claim to be in that range.

You’re misinterpreting the data.

The data shows that women do have more sexual partners than men overall.

The median average data is skewed toward men because as the data shows, the men who have a lot of partners (15 or more), far outnumber the women.

This makes sense. Sexual access is difficult for men (easy for women), so only the top tier men have true sexual abundance.

Women date up, they all aim for the cream of the crop (aim for strongest and brightest), therefore those top tier men have true sexual abundance.

The men who are able to achieve this (top 20%), have true sexual abundance and are having sex with 70%-80% of the women. This is why only approx 40% of males are able to reproduce, while 95%+ of women are able to reproduce.

I genuinely think this is just due to men caring way more about being accurate in specifics, particularly n count, than Women. Not malicious intent or anything of the sort. I remember being pretty pissed when I couldn’t name every women I’d slept with at 23 when I had been been able to at 21.

Theres no ‘rational’ reason for this. But yes, men care more about statistics and accuracy than women, and that’s probably actually a downside in most regards.

In regards to the statistic its night and day difference depending on where you are in the country. Im damn sure my cousin in middle Texas is at 3 or less. Versus most of the women i talked to in CA would be more like 15-20 lifetime partners. Its very location dependent.

As someone that regularly goes out in the real world, this is common sense.

Women obviously take more risk having sex so most of them don’t rush into anything, men in the other hand are always up for it.

People are making a great point that the study omitted virgins, but I'm not sure they are common enough to make a difference according to this article in The Atlantic. "The CDC also reports that virgins make up 12.3 percent of females and 14.3 percent of males ages 20 to 24. I tend to agree, as that is what the facts show, though I think young Millenials / Gen Z are worth studying since they are growing up in the time of online dating. Furthermore, it would be interesting to divide up this data by people with and without a college degree, since people with a college degree probably had more opportunities to hook up than non-college folks who probably stayed in their hometowns and weren't on college campuses. It would also be interesting to compare the data based on rural, suburban, and urban. I don't know what the breakdown would be, since my first guess would be that urban people have higher bodycounts, though there is an old saying that in small towns the only thing to do would be "drinking, fighting, and fornicatin'"

This should be obvious. Primary reason women have power in the market is that as a whole they do not supply enough sex to satisfy all the men.

As you go up the number skews more and more towards men because higher tier men are getting more than their share of course.

So 30 percent of men (excluding virgins so that would make the percentage even less) are getting more partners than women according to this.

It's pretty much showing 80/20 working as a gradient.

How else would that would work if there's a limited supply and some have way more than others?

If men had less partners on the whole by far enough, we would be the selectors.
