One possible implementation of that approach could be to introduce a lump sum tax (fee) on men and give the proceeds to women

We already have that. It's called marriage.

[–]Sininenn 383 points384 points385 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

It's called "public spending".

Women cost the tax system more than they contribute to it over the course of their lives.

Education, healthcare, various programmes and campaigns, as well as retirement... A woman's lifetime tax won't even cover her own cost to the tax system.

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 101 points102 points103 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And in the U.S., social security.

[–]Fresh-Loop 72 points73 points74 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The report shows the disparity in life expectancy between men and women grew in 2021 from 5.7 years in 2020 to 5.9 years in 2021. From 2000 to 2010, this disparity had narrowed to 4.8 years, but gradually increased from 2010 to 2019 and is now the largest gap since 1996.

CDC data

For men, the one-year decline in life expectancy was attributed primarily to mortality from COVID-19 (49.5% of the decline), unintentional injuries (19.1%), suicide (3.6%), chronic liver disease and cirrhosis (3.4%), and homicide (2.5%). For women, the 0.8 year decline in life expectancy was attributed mainly to mortality from COVID-19 (51.2% of the decline), unintentional injuries (14.8%), heart disease (5.7%), stroke (3.5%), and chronic liver disease and cirrhosis (2.4%).

Same source.

Men now live 6 years less than women, with 3.6% increase YoY in suicide and 2.5% in homicide.

If these stats were women these would be on the front pages of magazines. Because men are disposable, this info is the last bullet on the page.

Men by in large pay more taxes than they consume/receive

Even at the lower ends of income. So all men even excluding the ultra wealthy will still pay more in taxes than they receive in taxpayer funds/benefits/etc | so all the way from 30/40k - 100k, and 100k-500k, and obviously beyond

Men will pay more in taxes, receive less, women will pay about the same in taxes or less, and receive more

Basically already a wealth transfer from men to women and that’s not even including marriage (or hell even dating/relationships, or online prostitution like onlyfans and whatnot)

[–]63daddy 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Funny how such articles ignore this fact.

[–]thewindburner 54 points55 points56 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do you have a source for that as it would be a great talking point when someone brings up the gender pay gap!

[–]Sininenn 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2375926

The study is discussed, for example, here:

https://misandrytoday.com/only-men-pay-tax/

[–]thewindburner 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That too.

[–]SudoSlash 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This also goes for pension funds. Despite women living longer and contributing less into the system, in most countries they get to retire earlier and enjoy a significantly longer total retirement.

[–]throwawaygoodvibess 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This. The pay gap is a myth, yet the retirement gap is real. The life gap is real.

And since those two are real, the damn pay gap should be real

[–]CentralAdmin 114 points115 points116 points 3 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

You know, I thought the red pill guys were joking when they said this shit was coming...

[–]Angryasfk 65 points66 points67 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Sadly no. Women are the majority of voters (they live longer and under 18’s don’t vote). Politicians therefore pay attention to what they think women want.

And simply “boycotting marriage” won’t work either. They’ll just extend the costs outside the marriage contract and continue to reduce the obligations on women. The only wild card is how they figure gays and transgender in all this.

It won’t last of course. But how bad do things have to get before this is seen as pure folly and abandoned?

[–]Baboon_Stew 54 points55 points56 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If gays and trans people are exempted, damned near every single man will eventualy identify that way on paper to avoid that tax. Rightfully so.

[–]Angryasfk 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then they’ll eat into those exceptions. I don’t believe they’ve really got a thing for gays or trans: they’re just convenient. Already we’re seeing the early stages of gay men losing their “victim status” and slowly being converted to “oppressor status”.

And in any case the response is MGTOW. You don’t have to call yourself gay to simply avoid sexual contact with women. But they’ll come for you with higher taxes to pay for deserving single mothers anyway.

[–]mixing_saws 36 points37 points38 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If there is ever a male or whatever tax coming i just identify as genderfluid :D

There will be lots of people like me. Normal males will quickly die out.

[–]flibbidy_floob 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can imagine doing my taxes, and the first question is "Did you get married, have a child, or change your gender identity last year?"

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think that simply identifying as genderfluid will suddenly be “out” when it costs the State significant money!

[–]mixing_saws 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Then just identify as woman or whatever new crazy stuff they come up with. Some people identify their gender as "car" so why not?

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Do it whilst you can. My point is that once this seriously affects the revenue of the state, they will move against it one way or another.

[–]Phantombiceps 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Politicians of any influence over legislation do not pay attention to what voters of any sex want.

[–]Angryasfk 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They do try to fob them off though. Hence their championing of feminist lobbying. They see it as a low rent way of securing the women vote.

[–]XavierMalory 65 points66 points67 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You haven’t even begun to see the worst of it. Over in TRP, we call this a bachelor tax, But I wager all men will be obliged to pay this, married or not.

May as well call it the “Male Tax”.

[–]mixing_saws 45 points46 points47 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Cant wait for the big lawsuit to happen because that shit is hardcore sexist and violates multiple laws.

[–]copeharderhun 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Lmao good luck with that. They don't give one fuck about laws that negatively affect men. For example in the US it is illegal for clubs to have ladies nights and cheaper entry for women. Doesn't stop it happening all the time though.

[–]mixing_saws -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thats on a whole different level than a male tax

[–]copeharderhun 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

If they're not willing to obey equality for small things what makes you think they'll do it for big things? You're a fucking moron if you think otherwise.

You know how Nazis and commies and all those managed to get people to agree? They started of small and gradually got bigger. The frog in boiling water technique. This is the exact same. Men are so used to unfair treatment from small things right now they'll happily accept bigger things.

Don't be a fucking moron and accept reality brother

Indeed let me give you a better example. Spain has FUCKED DV laws. A man is always assumed to be guilty and has to argue his innocence. Yes guilty until proven innocent. He is held in jail the entire time (even if NO evidence is provided by the claimant). If he can't prove his innocence the woman gets ALL his belongings. Yes. And this ONLY applies to male on female DV. Any other the law doesn't apply

This is horrific discrimination. If you swap man for black and woman for white in this it sounds like something out of 1850s America. Yet the EU doesn't give one shit about this blatant violation of their equality laws (this law has been if effect for almost 20 years). Why the fuck do you think they would care about a male tax? Or that other countries like the US wouldn't do the same?

[–]israfildivad 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The irony of The bachelor tax ( or alternatively, marrieds paying less taxes) is its supposed to encourage people to get married and have kids, but instead it just makes it even more difficult.

[–]copeharderhun 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope, we were 100% telling the truth. It's funny because you have the idiots who said "that's just a few people online, no one in any power thinks that". Guess what, online people exist in real life too, and a lot of them have a lot of power.

We said it was coming and here it is. If men don't riot we deserve it.

[–]meaty_wheelchair 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

same bro

[+]RatDontPanic -32 points-31 points-30 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I read the article, the whole thing is hypothetical. Why are we even panicking over this?

[–]killcat 33 points34 points35 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The fact that it's being PROPOSED shows the thinking of "intellectuals" (read ideologues) they are suggesting that ALL MEN pay a tax to ALL WOMEN, irregardless of the fact that on average men already pay more tax.

[+]RatDontPanic -26 points-25 points-24 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Oh my God man, this idea is going to fly like a lead brick dropped from the top of Sears Tower. There aren't enough women or simps who will back bullshit of this magnitude.

[–]killcat 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You would be surprised, there are plenty of people that still believe in the "wage gap" and would welcome an "equity" solution to help "raise women and their children out of poverty", even though more men are poor and homeless.

[–]RatDontPanic -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Wake me up when such a suggestion even gets to the floor of any legislature whatsoever.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why? What are you going to do then?

[–]RatDontPanic 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Get some skis because that would be proof that hell has frozen over.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol stranger/worse things have happened pal

Hopefully you could still afford them after the tax

[–]TheStumblingWolf 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not all countries' marriage laws work like in the US. Don't know how they are in the UK though.

[–]neveragoodtime 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In the US we call that Divorce.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

we already do that, while men work their ass off with high stress jobs like Engineering, women receive federal funds and they study Literature, Arts in general to pursue their hobbies while we pay the bill

[–]TheSoviet_Onion 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We already have that in the shape of taxes and pension payments anyway

[–]12345NoNamesLeft 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also divorce

[–]niko_xf 236 points237 points238 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

How about all the data about childless women making more than men? Are they gonna be subjected to the tax? WTF is going on in universities? Aren't they suppose to be the brightest of all?

[–]Sr_Nunes 113 points114 points115 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Not anymore.

They're very lubticated profit machines, fueled by propaganda.

[–]Far-Reputation7119 32 points33 points34 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men need to take a stand and avoid universities that discriminate against them.

[–]Sr_Nunes 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So.. Not going to University and try a manual-labour/practical degree?

(If I knew what I know today, I'd probably had mybown business by now.. And I'm 36).

[–]mixing_saws 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The left corrupted them good. Propaganda everywhere.

[+]Libidomy94 -32 points-31 points-30 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Found the victim of right wing propaganda.

You think you’re the only one on earth that’s immune to propaganda? Everything you’re being fed is right and all the idiots on the other side are just too blind to see the truth.

[–]mixing_saws 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haha. Who said im rightwing? Im actually center and slightly left leaning regarding worker rights etc. Im too left for the rightwing and too right for the leftwing. Sadly most people cant handle my diverse political views.

[–]Sr_Nunes 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Found the victim of left-wing propaganda.

Yes, you are brighter than everybody. Teehee!

Edit: also: the other guy said "propaganda everywhere", so.. You justvlost an opportunity to be quiet.

[–]External_Towel80341 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

You sound like the average leftist idiot. If you're a man you probably hate yourself. If you're a wahman then it's understandable why you hate men.

Lmfao, yikes neither of those things are true

[–]IceCorrect 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]ExMuzzy 107 points108 points109 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Why is this moron applying statistics from Norway to the UK.

More women than men work part time, and this makes it more attainable for women to adjust their labour supply when their taxes change.

So he knows exactly why there’s a “pay gap” but wants to fix it by making men pay more tax. A group who more commonly works part time is going to earn less than a group working full time.

Why should the former group be compensated for doing less work? That’s not a fix, that’s just moronic.

Looks like we’re also going to ignore the women who want traditional men when it comes to who stays at home and who goes to work.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points33 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why is this moron applying statistics from Norway to the UK.

No idea. But yeah this argument is basically dumb normally because Norway is like top 3 oil and gas supplier per head of population in the world and basically can when they desire print money with it.

Itys literally one of the reason when when somebody uses "But look at Norway" the argument is always trash

[–]Bergensis 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why is this moron applying statistics from Norway to the UK.

It could be that he is this Norwegian nincompoop:

[–]Scandi_Navy 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And a "I can't have long nails on an oil rig" gap.

[–]DouglasWallace 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I support equal work for equal pay.

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It exists but it is important why? because men take more risky jobs, men are more aggressive and push their higher-ups for promotions, they don't get pregnant or take days off because of period. Yes where are instances where women get less pay for same job , but overall people forget those factors and it is disingenuous.

[–]Platnium071 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Would this apply to men earning minimum wage?

Would this apply to men and women earning identical salaries at companies which pay the same wage for the same job (which is every company in the UK by law?)

Men have a significantly higher unemployment rate in the UK, would they be compensated as a class for that, meaning even employed men receive said compensation?

Once again, failing to understand the math of the wage gap. Oxford should know better.

[–]ThisGuyCrohns 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s so irritating that I can’t say anymore than you. Whoever wrote this should just die off so evolution can take its course.

Some countries have it already. Due to different retiring age for men and women in Poland (65 to 60), women living up to 8 years longer and various public health care programs exclusive to women one could say that polish tax system is basically redistribution from men to women.

And they wonder why young men are not so keen on all the economically left ideas, make it fair ffs.

It’s about time that men start fighting back against this blatant sexism against us, but there’s still so many simps out there

[–]Fearless-File-3625 30 points31 points32 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

(taxes - government welfare) is positive for men and negative for women. So men already subsidise welfare of all women and women already pay lower taxes.

As a group, women never break even on their taxes over their lifetime. They take more from the system than they pay in. That's right now.

Men as a group actually are net tax positive over their lifetimes. Men already pay for women's tampon tax reduction.

Why do we owe more??

Since the world is collapse under overconsumption and overpopulation, it would make more sense to have a tax on children.

[–]63daddy 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those who choose to work less and earn less already do pay less taxes.

[–]In10sity 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

First line of the article

We all know about the gender pay gap

Straight to the trash can

Imagine trying to institute lower taxes for women and still getting no bitches

[–]matrixislife 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If men were earning more than women then income tax would be the one that sorts it out. That this guy believes that the pay gap is anything but a myth says volumes about his intelligence and motivations.

[–]az226 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let’s tax part time workers less and give them money because they earn less than full time workers. /s

[–]techno_bm 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This has already happened in some EU countries where women don't even have to pay taxes at all. The double standards ridiculous. They complain about the patriarchy then push for a matriarchy. Between their insufferable attitude, the insanely biased laws, and the barriers they constantly setup to even talk to a below average woman its not worth it to date a woman nowadays. Its depressing yet hilarious how they demand so much yet do so little. At this point its safer to become gay and adopt/surrogate.

[–]mikesteane 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This has already happened in some EU countries where women don't even have to pay taxes at all.

Which ones?

[–]techno_bm 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hungary off the top of my head which promotes women to pop a bunch of babies and neglect them for a check. The father doesn't get the tax exemption however just her. This is more or less the equivalent of child tax credits in the U.S. given we all know the mother pretty much always gets the child. Don't remember the rest as I skimmed the article a bit back but I do recall something along the lines of a discussion a couple places even in the u.s.

While not an official tax they're complaining about a pink tax in nyc and CA which is basically them complaining they pay a premium for ubers meanwhile the public transit is the more fleshed out there out than any other city in the U.S. another version of that being that they splurge on supposedly exotic products cause the marketers are smart enough to use key words when advertising or that they spend 100$+ for a haircut when they can do the same for 10-20$ at a local barber who has the same training (with the exception of salon treatments and all that junk). Course the only logic here would be that its sexism. Surely not their horrendous spending habits.

[–]wildwolfcore 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, on average, women already pay significantly less taxes than men.

[–]Trosso 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn’t worry it’ll never come to pass

[–]2wicky 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"One possible implementation of that approach could be to introduce a lump sum tax (fee) on men and give the proceeds to women. This would reduce both income inequality and economic distortions."
The problem with this is that men are already giving their proceeds to women. Men in general over the course of their life time will pay more in taxes than what they get back. Women in general on the other hand remain in deficit all their lives.
In that light, the pay gap is deserved and fair, because when it comes to taxes, women aren't pulling their weight.

[–]chaython 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Taxes are a percentage of your wealth, its less the less you make so the whole headline makes no sense to the data. They already pay less tax, technically, if the data is correct.

[–]RHYMES_WITH_AGINA 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you a biologist?

Good thing everyone can be gender-fluid and change genders as easy as changing tube socks. Wham! I’m now a female. Lower tax bracket and special treatment please

[–]oggyb 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is likely that many societies support such a principle. Governments sometimes protect certain characteristics, such that policy should be “blind” with respect to them. Another popular intuition is that it is fairer to be treated based on a choice rather than based on something one cannot change. More broadly, surprisingly few taxes are based on characteristics that are hard to change. This is strange to an economist, as characteristics seem like perfect bases for taxation: they are related to earnings potential and a tax on them leaves little scope for any behavioural response. Still, such taxes are contrary to common intuitions about what is right.

Reads like the ramblings of a sociopath.

[–]AirSailer 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women have less earnings over their lifetime, therefore we should tax men more.

Men have less years of life over their lifetime, therefore we should <insert measure> women more.

[–]evilnaughtydang 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Should women pay lower taxes? How about a follow up report on the percentage of taxation that's consumed by women as opposed to men?

[–]dlebauche 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]JoeSmith1907 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He ends with: "In conclusion, even though tax policy could address the gender pay gap, it does not follow that gender-based taxation is the optimal tax policy. Horizontal equity may provide a justification for why governments, even though they worry about the gender gap, do not set lower income taxes for women than men."

But he's still talking about a gender pay gap rather than an earnings gap.

[–]Klutzy_Pride_5644 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Simpler solution would be to apply the same social norms to women as we do to men. Make their entire worth be based on their ability to earn money and leave them in the streets is they can't support themselves. Then, the whole driver for the "wage gap"will disappear because women will have the same pressure to earn that men have

[–]DouglasWallace 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Already, in the UK, if women were to pay the same amount of income tax each day as men, they would stop paying tax around 17 May each year.

And someone wants to disadvantage men even more?!?

[–]alclarkey 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It has been so at least since the days of Kim Philby and Don Maclean.

[–]MI6Section13 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The secret world of MI6 can be a small one as portrayed by Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce in A spy Amongst Friends about Kim Philby and if you haven’t read it yet, Ben Macintyre will be disappointed!

As all espionage cognoscenti know, Kim Philby was a member of the infamous Cambridge Five along with Anthony Blunt, Donald Maclean, Guy Burgess and John Cairncross. Philby knew John le Carré (aka David Cornwell) and ended le Carré's career in MI6 by treacherously informing on all his East European secret agents. Philby (and maybe other Famous Five members) also knew Colonel Alan Brooke Pemberton CVO MBE in the fifties when Pemberton was ADC to Field Marshall Sir Gerald Walter Robert Templer and fought in the guerrilla war known as the Malayan Emergency. Philby was sniffing around for information to help the communist Malayan insurgents backed inter alia by the USSR but got little useful data from Templer’s camp and the insurgents (the Malayan National Liberation Army) were eventually defeated by the British.

In the early seventies Alan Pemberton recruited one Bill Fairclough for MI6 (codename JJ). They worked together on and off for the next twenty years or so. Before 2014 Fairclough’s links with various intelligence agencies became public knowledge and to quash any fake narratives Fairclough set about publishing a series of factual autobiographical novels known as The Burlington Files, only one of which (Beyond Enkription) has been published to date. Given Alan Pemberton (Fairclough's original MI6 handler knew Kim Philby) it is unsurprising that John le Carré turned down Bill Fairclough's offer in 2014 to collaborate on the action packed factual Burlington Files series. David Cornwell responded along the lines of "Why should I? I've got by so far without collaboration so why bother now?" An expected but realistic response from a famous expert in passive fiction who refused to visit theburlingtonfiles.org in case his photo was snatched while on line!

Do look up the authors or books mentioned on Amazon, Google The Burlington Files or visit https://theburlingtonfiles.org and https://everipedia.org/wiki/lang_en/bill-fairclough and read Beyond Enkription.

However, many of the reasons why women earn less than men are structural. Different occupations have different salaries, and there are more women in sectors with lower pay, such as health care. If this is hard to change, why should governments not use tax policy to compensate women for their lower pay, at least until the gender pay gap is closed?

Because some sectors being higher paying than others isn't ipso facto bad. Some jobs require more training, more hours, or are just less intrinsically rewarding than other jobs.

[–]andejoh 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of the higher paying jobs are also more dangerous or have worse working conditions. The gender occupational death gap is like 10 times higher than the gender wage gap.

Did anyone finish reading the article? In the last part, he explains why gender-based taxation is not done. The title "Oxford proposes..." is highly misleading because (1) this is an individual, not the university itself, and (2) the article doesn't actually propose anything, it simply analyzes the possibility.

[–]xdzgor 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And if men earn more, and income tax is a percentage of earnings, then they already pay more in tax...

[–]PrimeWolf88 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Rather than tax men more (they already pay more tax than women) and give women more benefits (they already get more benefits from their female privilege) why not go the other way and compensate men for getting less out than they put in, and penalise women for using/receiving too much.

First. Cut the benefits of women. This frees up more resources for the needy or homeless, and will force women to work longer hours (or any hours in many cases), boosting the economy.

Second. Give priority to men when making NHS and GP appointments. Men work longer hours and have a lower life expectancy. This will help them see a doctor since women use the NHS way more than men and don't pay as much in to it. Men can't spend their mornings calling constantly for an emergency appointment like stay-at-homers can. Most British women also haven't had any exercise in at least 10 years according to a recent study.

Third. Increase the retirement age for women since they live longer than men due to all the imbalances in healthcare and work. This will also boost their pensions for when they do retire.

Fourth. Stop rigging education in favour of how women learn and discriminatory college/university admissions in favour of women. They're less likely to pay back their student loans, costing the taxpayer money, and they're already the majority in colleges and universities due to this. End the grants to boost the admissions of women for the same reasons: they're already the majority and it's blatantly discriminatory.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are already net tax recipients as a group.

Just identify as a woman then.

[–]DevilishRogue 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As a demographic women are not net contributors to tax, they are net beneficiaries. Only individual women are net contributors. The author seems not to realise this in their thinking.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article states that this policy SHOULD NOT be used:

"it does not follow that gender-based taxation is the optimal tax policy."

They analyzed the possibility that taxes based on gender could lower the pay gap, but concluded that it was not an "optimal" choice. They instead say "horizontal equity" justifies not using gendered-based taxation.
