Why should average or below average men approach women anymore?

I have never been approached by women before and the same goes for most men. I hear women say all the time that if a women is really attracted to you she will risk rejection and approach. What that tells me is that no matter which women us men who aren't the most attractive approach they won't be into us because if they were they would do it themselves.

What reason is there for men to approach if women are only going to accept because no one else is asking them out. Since men want women who into them a too why should we approach if thats not going to happen?
