As long as we can't tell, we don't care. We will be surprised,though, if you were using it to hide certain features like bad skin or chewed fingernails.

I'd say all we care about is the overall appearance, not the minute details that women seem to focus on.

Some guys might care about women getting all "dolled up" for a date, but some guys might not. It all depends on how entrenched they are in modern values and behaviors. I personally prefer a more low-key/informal date, so shower, look presentable, no makeup, and dress appropriately. No need to look like you're going to be on TV.

There's two possible answers to this, neither of them particularly uplifting.

It's important, because I have to be physically attracted to her and I like knowing she takes care of herself. This implies, however, that without the makeup and self-care, she isn't physically attractive to me. That leads to possible answer #2....
It's not important because I'd only be serious with someone I was physically attracted to, and that means being attractive even without "putting on a face" every morning.

From experience, I tend to behave more like pattern #2. My first ex only ever wore eyeliner and I was always physically attracted to her. My second ex could role out of bed and I'd already have the hots for her, she also barely wore any makeup.

Also, nails mean nothing to me. Whenever I see long nails I just think "high maintenance and unathletic." I also don't care what she wears or styles, just so long as there's attraction. She could be in a baggy shirt and yoga pants, if the attraction is there, I'm game.

I appreciate the effort involved, but generally prefer less make up. A little eye liner and eye shadow and maybe some lip gloss. Not into "cakeface". I prefer more natural looking, but obviously make up works or women wouldn't wear it.

It's not just about looks, though. I hate getting fucking foundation on my face/ clothes. And don't get me started on fake nails. That fucking "tap-tap-tap" noise women with long nails make when typing/texting drives me up the wall. Not worth the back scratches, IMO.

Make-up doesn't matter... unless it's a clown costume party, then go heavy on the makeup and the rubber noses.

Nails, no, not unless it's a carpentry date. Then nails and a hammer is totally required.

Hair, totally optional in all cases. Bring it, leave it at home, doesn't matter.

So how big of a factor is any of that to me personally. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would say probably a 1. Just some lip gloss and some eyeliner and you're good. What is more important is that you stay clean and healthy, use conditioner on your hair, wash your face, exfoliate and then apply lotion. The more natural and healthy you look the more attractive you will be to the majority of men. Dudes that are into dolled up girls are usually fucked in the head. They have some sort of fetish.

Make-up during the day? Not unless you want to and were going out (work, party, etc.) Not around the house, that overkill.

Ling nails? Not thanks. I prefer short nails, might be nice if they're painted, but whatever. I don't like long nails and I hate acrylic nails.

Hair? This is something that can drive me absolutely wild if it's done right. But the reality is, everyone's hair is different so it wouldn't be reasonable to expect a gf who has straight hair to maintain it to match my preference.

Make up must not be overdone. Minimal is best. Some types of lipstick can be annoying.

Fake long nails are nasty. Keep them nice an clean.

When it comes to clothes they must be clean and not make you look like a bimbo. A nice dress from time to time can drive me crazy but it's definitely not something I expect or want all the time.If I really like her almost any clothes and style will do.

Hair must not be dyed any color that a women can't be born with.

I have a slight thing for natural redheads but I liked women with any hair color. I generally like hair to be longer but some women can pull up a buzz-cut and still be hot as hell.

Hair - Just normal long hair like 5 cm under shoulder height.

Only thing I really care about is that my partner has a coherent fashion sense that is tasteful and flattering without being over the top. I want to be with someone who dresses at a similar level to me, but it's not so much about "niceness" as it is having a curated wardrobe with quality pieces. Tasteful is the key there. Fake nails without exception look awful to me. Makeup, meh, but generally less is more there. I've always liked redheads, but like, natural redheads. I do like when my partner dresses up, but if she isn't attractive to me when she puts no effort in, meh.

I've had dates show up all done up and I'll be like "wow" but that's mainly for them. I've had dates show up super dressed down but I'm perfectly fine with that. I personally prefer light to no makeup, and I've had a lot of people try to quiz me on that or debunk that but I know what little to no makeup actually looks like and I do prefer it. Because that's what an actual flawed human looks like and I'd rather date an actual human and not a living graphic design project.

I'm not going to say I'm a normal example of a guy, nor that my opinions are even the best or correct. But personally, that's just what I go for.

I actually do legit prefer when women wear minimal makeup if any, but as far as the other things yes if I'm with somebody I like them to look their best keep your nails done, especially your feet because I like feet and I'm going to be down there a lot, as far as hair I like running my hands through some shoulder-length lovely locks🤷‍♂️

As far as clothes it really just depends on where we're going out, if I'm taking you out to a nice steakhouse I expect you to dress accordingly, but if we're just going out for some kind of casual meal, you wear your leggings because I'll wear my sweatpants and we'll have a grand old time lol

not a lot of foundation just light blush for rosy cheeks, eye shadow and light lipstick.

Nails

natural short to maybe medium length colors can be attractive but not big deal

Clothes

not too picky I just don't want her to be the most exposed person in whatever place we are at. Maybe on a scale or 0 being nudist to 10 being muslim in hijab I prefer 5-6

While these things will not make a fat woman attractive, on a fit woman they speak more to her character and red flags. Let me break it down:

Makeup: Some women need it, some do not, YMMV. Wearing too much is a turn-off because it makes me wonder what you are trying to hide.

Nails: I HATE fake nails and consider them a red flag, if they have the fucking Freddy Krueger claws that I see most black women nowadays wearing that's an automatic deal-breaker.

Hair: Short hair or hair that's dyed stupid fluorescent colors just screams "man-hating psycho bitch" and is a deal-breaker. So are weaves and extensions for that matter because I want to be able to run my fingers through it. Keep the hair long, neat, down, and natural colors. This is very important, ladies!

Clothes: Skirts and dresses are preferred, if it's warm enough. Women who only wear pants give the impression that they reject femininity or they are slobs. Yoga pants are acceptable if you are fit enough to pull them off. If it's cold its not as important.

Still, the best thing a woman can do to get male attention is be fit.

a bit of highlighter on the nose and cheecks (cute e girl vibes)
eyeliner
bit of mascara
no powder

Nothing extreme.

But this is only when we go out. When we don't, 0 makeup preferred.

Nails

I'm just gonna say it, if you care about her nails, as a man, you gay son.

Hair

Straight and down below your chin. Personal preference. No need to take care of it while at home, just if we go out.

Clothes

Hoodies and such are fine at home. Please don't dress like a homeless person when we go out. I want everyone to see my beautiful woman around my hand. Not a floating gray blob.

I don't like faces that looks like masks, but to each their own I guess. Proper skincare is way more important than makeup itself, although sometimes a nice touch of mascara on top of that is neat.

As for clothing, just have something you like that fit you. I don't see myself making any requirements or suggestions on that unless she has atrocious tastes for clothes.

Makeup is generally a negative but understandable and tolerable in small doses here and there. If it’s an everyday thing you’ve likely got something to hide. Prefer hair long but short is OK too, just keep it natural. Nails that look like you’re unaccomsted to work are unattractive. Little worse than fake hair, extensions, nails, eyelashes etc. The less you feel like you have to do, the more beautiful you likely are.

It’s important to know how to dress to the occasion (formal, SO business dinner, skiing, etc) but women look best in jeans and a t-shirt IMO. Dressing like whore, a hood rat, or a stripper, or just like you need everyone to look at you is a turn off.

I've dated women who wore flip flops and no make up and I have dated full on "goth" fashion queens who dressed like Betty Page. Dressing up is nice to a point, but it doesn't make a big difference upon reflection. The two women I miss the most were kind of plain (but cute) hipster girls who didn't get all dolled up. They were just fun and had big hearts. So yeah, it makes a difference, but not a huge one. No man will complain about it, that's for sure.

When it comes to dating I personally prefer a more natural looking face over a thick make up mask that makes you look like some Barbie doll. Fingernails can be fake as long as they don‘t look cartoonish or hilariously sharp and long. I’d prefer polished nails in a simple color over fake nails. Hair has to be clean. I prefer it to be in its natural color or maybe just some highlights, but no crazy haircuts and rainbow colors that look anime like. Also I’d prefer girls with shoulder long hair or shorter hair if they have a cute face that suits well. Clothes are very important to me. I think that our styles should match, but it’s okay if she has her own, slightly different style, as long as clothes don‘t get too expensive or extravagant. I personally loathe the Renaissance of the 90‘s we have to painfully witness in the last couple of years. That’s a big deal breaker for me. A more timeless and grown up style is what I expect a woman to wear.

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine is important. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser.

In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey chamomile body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating vanilla gel scrub. Then I apply a cucumber mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then a deep moisturizer, then a retinol anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective serum like hyaluronic acid. Then I finish off with Vanilla Tobacco or an orange scented cologne depending on which season I'm in.

I would hope that the person I'm dating would also place great importance in taking care of oneself. = )

Sounds like your ex couldn’t get the women he actually wanted, so he tried to make you become that. I’ve seen this strategy discussed believe it or not, it’s advice given to men who aren’t very attractive so they have to take what they can and then they have to try to mold the women into the Stacies they actually want.

Anyway it’s true most men want the girl with the wavy curls in their hair, who wear dresses/skirts, wears makeup, ya know the feminine appearance. I also want the same thing. Hair - Length and quality is very important to me as to if I'll be attracted to her. Hair has to be long or I won't be attracted to her. The longer the better. While I greatly prefer brunettes to blondes, I would never turn down a woman because she is blonde and would never ask a woman to dye her hair unless she was going gray.

Nails - Completely irrelevant. I don't even notice them

Make-up - Not that important, I prefer the "natural" look although admit that it is likely that even when looking like that women are wearing some make up. Taking care of her skin though (ex. using suncreen daily) helps considerably though.

Clothes - While it certainly is nice to see a woman in a dress rather than say, a t-shirt and jeans, not that big a deal to me as long as she looks somewhat presentable.

Going overboard with makeup is a huge turn off for me. Clothing is key especially appropriately sized cloths. I learned a lot from What Not to Wear and they rarely had men on. I'm also not a fan of the hot college girl look, spandex and crop tops. Let my imagination run wild.
