I’m a woman who has always been extremely feminine. I feel like it’s nature, not nurture, because I was raised by a tough, bossy mother who found my innate femininity annoying and did not nurture it. I’ve always been much more feminine than the majority of women I know in appearance and behavior, and I like it when men inhabit masculine roles. That said, I haven’t found the men I know to be any more masculine than the women were feminine. Despite living in an ultra-conservative region in middle America, the men of my acquaintance, despite appearing masculine on the outside, have not been very masculine at all. Most hate gender roles. Some have been bisexual, one was even a cross-dresser. My current partner follows gender roles with me because he knows it’s important to me, but with another woman he would be fine letting her take the lead. Sometimes I feel I’m the only person who is like this naturally. Am I?
