You often hear clichés like: “Women have a 90% success rate when they approach men.” People often give women the advice to simply approach the men they like because it supposedly works almost every time.

But my perception has been very different. From what I’ve observed in my social circle, and from my own experiences, it almost always goes like this: either the man rejects the woman right away, or he says yes because the situation is so unusual, but he isn’t genuinely interested and then puts in zero effort afterward. Often, men seem to view these situations as an easy opportunity for sex that they’re happy to take, without actually having real interest in the woman. Genuine interest was only ever there with the men who approached me first.

The same goes for my friends, who are definitely conventionally attractive (slim, pretty face, natural hair color, etc.). Personally, I’ve also only approached men whom I considered to be in my “league” and reasonably compatible. Maybe I see myself as more attractive than I actually am, but the men I normally date are also attractive, often even more attractive than the men I made the first move on. So while it’s possible that my own unattractiveness is the reason, it doesn’t seem very likely.

Of course there are always exceptions, but it’s definitely an exaggeration to say that women practically never experience rejection from men.

Edit: FYI, I posted this originally in r/unpopularopinions but it got banned bc they don't allow topics like that. That's why the post is written like that, I'm open to changing my mind ofc.
