I mean, my girlfriend now wears minimal makeup, and doesn't really do anything to her hair very often (though I do like how she dresses, because her outfits are adorable). I plan on having a future with her if all goes well, and things have been great until now.

Guys who say they want to date a girl who doesn't wear make really mean they want to date a girl that's naturally beautiful and looks good in everything without trying. Similar to how girls say they want a guy that's nice but what they really mean is they want their hot alpha to be less of a dick to them.

I wouldn't fuck any of the girls in that picture. But I have had relationships with girls who don't wear makeup, have low maintenance hairstyles, dress casually, or all of the above. But traditional femininity isn't all that important to me in a partner so maybe I'm an outlier.

My wife's style is that "Mormon missionary women" (minus the makeup). She'll wear chapstick when it's cold to prevent chapping. She colors her hair and keeps it straight but nothing terribly fancy. She shaves her legs and uses some skin products and wears jewelry. It's always an ordeal when there's some sort of school function because she feels like she has to spruce up. She almost always wears shorts or pants.

Easy. Because makeup and hair styling is temporary and not genetic.

If there are two girls that are 7/10 for example and are exactly the same, but one of them is great at style, makeup, and doing their hair, and the other is not, then the one that is will have over-inflated their sense of worth to lets say a 9/10, and there will be more demand for her and less supply of girls that look like her. Because of this, it is much easier to lock down or marry the 7/10, and lets be honest, they will probably be a lot more loyal, honest, down to earth, and other such stuff personality wise. The end result is the same biologically when you have kids, and you can always teach the girls how to do this stuff with youtube tutorials.

So if two sets of twins are dating that are exactly the same to each other, one set of exactly the same guys and one of exactly the same girls, but one girl is great with makeup and hair, Then that girl will develop overconfidence or arrogance, be less loyal and harder to impress, keep, or get, and even if the two twin sets do marry, the 9 will probably regret marrying that guy and be less content, caring, committed, try less, or be more likely to cheat.

The makeup girl will have/cause a less fulfilling relationship with less perks (more that I forgot to mention), even though evolutionary wise the result will be the same, /u/SecSlab (of course not many guys have this train of thought)

Yes! Absolutely! It's often a sign of a free spirit. If they wore jeans and T-shirts all the time and were super casual about fashion, never shaved their legs, and were blunt as fuck I'd be attracted as hell. Usually, that type of person has a really blunt personality and is often intelligent.

Been with my girlfriend for over a year now. Doesn't wear much make-up beyond a little eyeliner. Frequently wears hoodies and jeans. She doesn't style her hair because she knows I like it curly and natural.

Also, all those missionary women are all pretty cute.

i look good, i dress stylishly, and i tend to do things and go places where everyone looks good and dresses stylishly. i'm not going to date some dumpy mormon housewife, that's would be ridiculous.

the vast majority of normal women wear makeup regularly and try to dress stylishly. any woman who doesn't is putting herself at a major disadvantage.

i do personally have a hijab fetish, but that's not really the same thing.

when men complain about women using makeup, it's because makeup can work too well. there are a lot of women who look ok with makeup, but when you finally see them without it, they're hideous.

it's analogous to women disliking guys learning PUA. it's cheating. it makes it harder to tell the truly attractive people from the people who are naturally unattractive but figured out a way to cheat.

I just want to wake-up next to someone that makes me want to tell them they're beautiful, not someone who makes me want to tell them "go groom yourself, quick". :p

I dislike overt use of make up, surgery, and photoshop / editing techniques. The reason behind the above is that your kid cannot inherit the appearance you can obtain from the above methods. Given how men are more attracted to physical appearance, you can see where I’m getting at.

At the very same time though I am also at a dilemma because I am a firm believer in that people should be able to take their own futures for themselves. Physical appearances are largely the result of genetics and are unable to be changed so you could say that makeup, surgery, and editing are ways around that. However, despite believing the above, I am still for a more natural look as I believe that my base instincts “do not want to be deceived”.

***There are also better ways around some problems like diet and exercise. That is why I said “largely” as lifestyle choices do also matter heavily.

I don't mind make up, I mind "excessive" make up. What I mean by that is that if I were to touch a woman's face, I wouldn't want to have to wash my hands afterwards. At the same time, I also want to be able to recognize a woman with or without make up.

As for surgery, I'm a bit split on that.

Speaking as a woman who doesn't wear makeup, put a lot of effort into my hair or dress in-style - I've had no trouble finding men who're attracted to me. I've found that men who care about these things, care more because of the social significance of them than as a sort of personal aesthetic preference. Although makeup conditions men to have unrealistic standards of women's appearances, not all men care about their partner's flawless skin.

I don't know if I'd specifically marry a highly religious missionary girl, but on the subject of appearance: The honest answer is some women benefit from a makeup-based look more than others. I think about youtube celeb Jenna Marbles, who is clearly sexier with makeup and bronzer and everything else she does. Other women have a really appealing natural look and don't benefit from makeup much or at all.

I tend to think natural beauty is gold, so no only would it be OK for a LTR, it's probably preferable.

I appreciate a woman that's dressed to a T, and enjoys make up, as long as it's not a source of stress that's put on me/herself for some inconspicuous reason. I like modest women too, so it makes no difference as long as I find her attractive. If a woman is too preoccupied with her looks, it ruins moments, so there's little fun in having a conversation with yourself because she's constantly checking herself out, and running to the loo to reapply make up etc.
