I attended a party a few nights ago at a guy friends house. His GF and her 3 close friends were also there. I generally get along with them just fine. Nobody was drunk as it was early on into the night.

For some reason I exited the bathroom and my buddy's GF and her 3 friends seemed to be having a conversation at the dinner table about something serious, judging by the look on their faces. I didn't think much and planned to bypass them and go back outside where the guy's were and the fire pit.

But said buddy's GF called me over "Come here for a moment, we want your opinion on something.." so I took a little 10 second detour and went over, now before I continue let me first say that all of the women at this kitchen table were as follows. University graduates, 60k a year stable careers, lived in nice apartments in the center of the city, were solid 7.5/10's on a bad day, very polite and dressed classy, have never caused any "red-flag" type issues between me, them or my guy friends, so all in all I had no idea of what was to come. And just how surprising it would be for me.

Buddy's GF asks me, as the other 3 look at me as I think of a reply "If you seen a girl at a train station being harassed, would you intervene?"

Now it didn't take me long to think of my reply, so I said "If I personally felt it was safe to do so, then yes I would"

They ALL comically sighed, looked at each other in a confused state, mouths slightly wider open than before, one even crossed her arms and softly said "Are you kidding me?" while looking blankly at the kitchen table they were sitting at.

And then buddy's GF says to me "So you wouldn't do anything?" to which I said "No, I said if I FELT it was safe to do so I would intervene, I'm not going to step in front of a guy double my size if it was late at night and he gave off a crazy vibe, there's a chance I could have my head smashed in or get stabbed, that's the reality of it, If anything I'd look around for other people first and get a few together before approaching, possibly even call the police first, it really depends on the specifics."

She looked at her friends and said "This is why men get away with the shit they do" and they all sort of did that screwed up face and nodded in agreeance with each other, so I laughed to myself and walked outside.

None of the girls spoke to me for the rest of the night, one of them deleted me off Facebook, and my gut feeling tells me they live in a fantasy land where men must do whatever they want regardless of at what cost it could be at.

I hope I have covered this thoroughly enough, I don't really have much experience making longer posts. They just looked at me, after I answered in detail, like I was a part of the problem, what the hell did I do?

This must be the 10th time in my life, I'm 24, when this sort of conversation has had the same outcome.

I'll put this down as Rant. Seems fitting.
