We need to teach women not to abuse their children. In cases of child abuse, there is a correlation with the mother being the abuser the younger the child is. I’ve seen stats of 70% of child abuse is discovered to be committed by the mother.

I think it makes sense for guys and girls to talk about where the line is. Sure it's not going to stop many sociopaths, though it may. But for the others getting drunk and finding a partner, I'd much rather have my kids prethink it. Instead of relying on intuition.

It's also logically absurd- nobody would suggest "teach murderers not to murder" or "teach terrorists not to be terrorists" as effective solutions on their own, because it's obviously not enough. Someone people without empathy or morals don't care about right and wrong, and teaching them what the right thing is means nothing. It's a harmful and delusional approach.

If it has to be taught then wouldn't that imply that the natural default was to rape? Making rape a natural necessity. If this was the case, rape numbers would be through the roof and/or just a accepted norm. Rapists would also only be male. Although I did have someone recently state she thought female rapists were identifying as male on some level. So some, even see female rapists , when they acknowledge them, as a male issue. Why can't people see this crap does no one any good and doesn't help the whole rape issue at all.

It's a good thing to teach people about consent, since some people just are never taught. Then again, I think that morality is taught rather than innate, so that's my bias. We should make sure it's not aimed just at men, though. Our culture generally teaches that rape is bad, but it's totally conceivable that somebody could slip through the cracks.

This is the equivalent of “swiper, no swiping” from Dora the Explorer. As a society we already agree rape is horrible, but there are people who don’t care. Whether it’s out of lust or dominance, there are people will force themselves onto someone to satisfy themselves. No one is saying the victim is at fault when something happens, but there are certainly precautionary steps that can be taken. Just like you lock your doors to make sure no one gets into your car or house. If you live in a bad neighborhood and leave your door unlocked, come home, and all your stuff is stolen, obviously the thief shouldn’t have stolen your stuff, but you could have prevented by locking your door. Similarly, you shouldn’t go out alone at night and if you plan on going in some not so safe areas, it would be a good idea to be armed to deter any assailants. The only way you can stop all crime is to read people’s thoughts and that would be completely tyrannical and inhumane.

#unpopularopinoin The 'teach men not to rape' isn't about labeling any male, or male victims of rape as potential rapist. The point was to teach boys to learn about consent, and don't touch anyone without permission. How is this a negative thing to try to teach boys to keep hands to themselves?

The movement is simply pointless as rapist don't care about what is good or bad. They already know it's bad.

It doesn't these are complementary messages.
Education about consent should go to everyone.
Sure, but the language this counters is gendered - that the responsiblity for rape is on the woman. That language is pretty widespread - "she was asking for it" and so forth.
That logic doesn't make any sense if you apply it to other crimes.
It doesn't. Why should a man feel blamed?
It doesn't. I think people are already a little paranoid given the weird shit that happens to them.
So yes - educate EVERYONE about consent.

Funny story. So I was strong arming this woman, slapping her up and little bit and slamming her into walls, etc. I eventually grab her by the shoulders and force her into my room and pin her down on my bed. I was trying to take off both our clothes but she was scratching me, kicking me, and generally being combative while screeching bloody murder. Finally after a battle, I got ourselves naked enough.
