I'd say don't remarry. Statistically, the odds of a second divorce are 60%! You might think it will all work out fine, but 60% of guys thought the same thing, and look where they are now. Do you really want to be the guy who is kicking himself for making the same mistake twice?

I like to keep my life simple. I have a girlfriend that I love, she lives with me, and if something goes wrong, all I have to do is break up with her. No lawyers, no waiting on the courts, no having to tell dates that I'm going through a divorce, no losing part of my equity or 401K. Breakups are diffiult enough without all of that.

No, the answer is do not live in such a way as the state views you as married, at least conventionally.

Full stop.

I’m actually talking to a lesbian friend of mine who has roughly the same seven figure asset pool as I do and we’re discussing getting married for asset protection with a nuptial agreement protecting both of our ends.

You can only legally be married once, and we live in a common law/defacto area and she is going to have to give her ex girlfriend a million dollars.

Find an alternative solution. If you kept your shit(as I did) count yourself among a very lucky few.

If executed then we’re both free to date/live with whomever we wish with zero risk of repercussions. I confirmed this with my divorce lawyer who laughed her ass off but said it was a brilliant asset protection strategy as long as it was executed correctly.

Finding someone similar to you will solve a lot - my ex actually said to me that one reason she liked me was because we had similar “stuff”, meaning, wealth - she was right - we each walked away with our own “stuff” and respected our /each others financial well being - stick with your own type and don’t marry down is a good mantra for many things 👍🏼 Best of Luck 🤞

For me going forward I'll have to be straight up that marriage through the government is not for me. We can do a marriage ceremony and do everything normally done for a wedding. Being open on your needs has to be something that has to be known within the few one or two dates. So you both dont lose time. If asked I'll list all the reasons why, doesn't mean I won't be fully committed. Wills, power of attorneys, etc can be drawn up that are automatic when the government is involved. I'm also in a non common law state so that's in my favor.

I know it's a big ask of someone but I will not put myself through this ever again. Rather have my peace alone then be with someone's ungrateful daughter.

If your question is how to protect your assets...you don't get remarried my man. You say you want a kids and a family. And that's fine. Just realize...you can do that or you can protect your assets. You can't do both. That's just the name of the game if you're a guy.
