I've always felt far more comfortable and happy and successful when single, which is why after every relationship I stay single for 4-5 years until the next one. That being said, after finding FDS a few months ago, my standards are so high now that I'm not sure any man will qualify to take up my time & I am 100% alright with that.

This might sound problematic, but I’m very relieved to see conventionally attractive women say this shit aloud.

Growing up, the perception of single women (especially past a certain age) was that no man wanted them because they weren’t appealing. Even now, men try to use that excuse. I’ve even been “complimented” with that argument, that certainly I should have my pick of the cream of the crop men and my solitude is simply me being “too picky”. To be fair, men are largely lacking in standards and decision-making skills, so it really is as simple as having a vagina and being visible to them either virtually or IRL to “get” one. It’s not a skill, and requires zero effort. So it makes sense in that context when people are dumbfounded/disgusted by a woman who doesn’t have a man. It’s so easy to get one, so they assume we’re doing something wrong.

Anyway, back to my original point. I’m so happy to see attractive, intelligent women who are clearly thoughtful human beings choosing solitude over unfulfilling relationships and taking this perspective to social media. I’ve been “bullied” on Facebook for speaking up about this. They can’t insult my looks or intellect, so they try to use my thought-provoking, carefully-worded posts as evidence that I’m some harpy who runs men off with my sour disposition. It’s always us. Never them. The more this goes public, the more people will finally realize the problem is deficiency in men. I hope.

I found a podcast today called Childless Not By Choice, hosted by a Black Caribbean-American woman in her 50s and she had a guest and author from Australia (also 50/60ish) and listening to those two discuss their lives and choices was so comforting for me. They both said they knew when they were younger that they wanted men who had “bank accounts and steady jobs” because they knew they wanted to be mothers someday, and they recognized these basic things are being important. Also the type of man. That choosing a man to procreate with is a decision that most women jump headfirst into more easily than they would a business deal. And people told them they were being too picky or wanting too much. Two different cultures and nationalities of women being fed the same poison. It’s a global epidemic.

This makes me happy, that more women are realizing that life without most men is so much easier. If they can't act right, then why do we need them around?

The current generation of women will likely have many single women, because the potential male partners are not good. Many men will be single, and hate it. They will have many fewer women to have sex with as more and more women realize that trying to have a "relationship" with someone who just wants to use you for sex and housework isn't much fun.

Maybe men will wise up (but I kind of doubt it) but suffice it to say that as women become ever more independent financially and have reproductive opportunities (choose tall and smart sperm from the sperm bank!) that are outside of traditional relationships, men will become redundant.

They can't hold the threat of "you'll end up poor and alone" -- nope, we make more than you do -- nor can they hold the threat of childlessness -- nope, we have money and sperm bank. So what is there? Sex with 99% of them is already unsatisfying, so they can't use that. Really, what do they have to offer us, except more chores?

The best thing about being single: Having the whole bed to myself.

I have a California King, and it's wonderfully comfortable, with a high-end mattress and beautiful linens, and I don't miss the snoring, the hogging covers, or the waking up when he does at all.

Some days I hang out in bed all day, and work in my jammies.

No man will ever stay overnight again, I've decided, unless we are engaged to be married. My bed is my space, and he goes home after sex, period.

A colleague of mine has just been cheated on by her husband. I've met him a couple times and he seemed like a really good person. Seemed.

They have two small kids together, I think the younger one isn't even 2 yet.

Why even bother? I'm so glad to be single, unattached, childfree, got a wonderful group of friends, love my parents and siblings, got my own flat, a job I love and a good salary. Life is good and low stress. ❤️

I just think it's a sad Testament to society that het women are actually better off single than they are booed up. The last things we need to conquer are pay equity, healthcare, and public safety, and then that's pretty much it.

One thing, it really clarifies the need het men have for patriarchy. Because if they didn't have any of these backward rules, ideologies, laws designed to keep women constrained and in relationships with them I would say 60 to 70% of men would never know the pleasure of being relationship with a woman. Some of them might figure it out in time, but certainly not most.
