I think it was research from Gottman Institute that found that couples where the man didn't find his wife attractive and show her devotion and affection while pregnant never recover. Though it's pretty obvious without the research tbh.

Men don't want to be patient while women are "out of commission". Instead of handling the horny feeling solo, they cheat because they have to have sex all the time. It's a weird role to be in because pregnant women and women who have just given birth either cannot or are not up to any sexual activity but they may feel compelled to under the hopes of "keeping him from cheating".

My POS brother cheated on my SIL while she was pregnant. She found out like 2 days before giving birth. So the Ahole decided it was fine to bring his girlfriend to the hospital to sit with him in the waiting room while she was in labor. My mom told her she should leave.

I wanna be a Mumma, and now, passing 27, I’m slowly letting go of the idea of “the wall”. In truth, I’m glad I didn’t have kids with any previous men any earlier in life. The vetting process feels extra, extra, important, no WAY are my hypothetical babies being born into any household where my husband and their Father doesn’t revere me as well as the journey of me giving life and birth to our child/ren. I honestly love my non-existent kids too much, that I would go without ever having them, as opposed to settling for a husband just to bear them. And the way I’m seeing Mums irl and online speak of their relationships...yikes.

Pregnancy & illness are the most likely times for abuse/domestic violence to start up. Men are also apparently more likely to lose attraction if they are present for the birth(regardless of whether he was the one begging for kids in the first place). There are also reams of studies suggesting that even formerly egalitarian relationships devolve postpartum, & men generally stop bothering pulling their weight in terms of childcare & domestic chores. Basically, you can't count on your mate at your most vulnerable.

Think twice before building your life around someone who effectively views you as an object & can't even be bothered to sufficiently nurture his own mutually agreed-upon offspring... someone who prioritizes endless conquest, pornsickness & sexual sadism over his own offspring... I'm honestly surprised at how many women here who are otherwise fairly redpilled/blackpilled are still seemingly happy to waste their lives pursuing this.

Anyway, the general social trend is to downplay pregnancy risks so women will continue birthing children without a second thought to their own health & wellness. It isn't all necessarily a result of planning & malice, but there is still plenty at play. Why do you think young childless women are often traditionally banned from the birth process? Why is free flow of information surrounding childbirth typically suppressed? Because, even other elder women are reluctant to divulge the horrors because they want grandbabies.

Edit- wanted to add that I have seen a number of anonymous studies/surveys spanning decades that suggest that a surprisingly large proportion of mothers regret having children. Now, given the replication crisis, especially in soft sciences, we do have to apply some skepticism, but the implications of these, if true, are pretty significant. I don't have the link off the top of my head, but I also saw surveys suggesting that women, given the choice, choose to have smaller families than men do, except when men are expected to contribute significantly to childcare. Lmao. Makes perfect sense on an evo-psych basis, but good luck having open discussion on the trend of men largely wanting to be deadbeat dads & having undue influence on the control of reproduction.

Happened to me. I discovered that my husband (at the time, now ex) had placed a personal ad looking for women while I was around 6 months pregnant. His status was “it’s complicated”. He destroyed how I saw him forever after that. His response was “nothing ever happened”. Yeah, because no one responded to you, that was the ONLY reason. He also ordered a porn movie and I saw it on the cable bill and he denied it. I called the cable company and the agent was obviously not buying that this was a mistake but he took it off the bill. I got the sense that he did in fact purchase it. It was just all the lies. Men lie so much. They get very crafty about it but women have that intuition and we are usually onto them. Anyway, he’s someone else’s problem now. To think they put their dicks before honoring their wedding vows just because maybe their pregnant, uncomfortable wife isn’t feeling sexual? All too common sadly. Now with a very loving, devoted man. A rare non-pornsick one who makes love to me and looks me in the eyes and says my name, like it’s supposed to be when you love someone. Maybe the rate of male infidelity is exactly the same, but a woman's awareness of it when pregnant is higher.

i.e. she's more likely to check up on him and catch him out.

So up until two months ago I couldn't get birth control because conservative mom. Then I got diagnosed with PCOS. For better or worse, that allowed me access to birth control without judgmental comments. Even if I were to somehow miraculously be cured of PCOS, I'm never letting go of my birth control. I don't want kids and I never want to be in this situation. Imagine giving your time and energy to grow life for a man who doesn't understand how pregnancy changes you.
