What people need to understand is that the battle for gender equality must necessarily remedy injustices done to both genders. It is not only unprincipled to correct only injustices done to women (it seems not rooted in egalitarianism, but rather in a self-serving attitude), it is also a strategic failure. How could we, for example, correct for the disparity of men in traditionally male roles, without also encouraging men to take traditionally female roles? The failure to reach gender equality for leadership roles is inextricably linked with the failure to reach gender equality in custody disputes. You can't fix one without fixing the other.

Also interesting that, at any given time, there are about 400k people in the US paying alimony (not, child support, but straight alimony). Women at this point are 40% of the breadwinners in households (meaning 40% of the time, they make more than the man) so you would think that they'd be about 40% of the alimony payments. The actual number is somewhere around 3%. If that's not institutionalized sexism, I don't know what is.

Well, there isn't much you can do about combat deaths, men are the only ones who can feasibly serve in combat, women physically lack the capacity, and possibly mentally, as it took 3 tries and an instructor walking them through it for a group of women to complete the Ranger land nav course.(something actual Rangers are required to past the first time, without help, or they fail Ranger school and have to reapply to do the whole thing again)

When will you realize that feminism strives for the equality of genders and this is definitely an issue we strive to fix among many more. Men and woman are treated differently and some of the effects can be "positive" while negative effects affect both men and women. This is actually a great example. Men are seen as strong and tough, hence their increased participation in dangerous jobs and jobs with heavy labor. It's not generally accepted that men have and especially show emotions or compassion, which causes them to statistically have low rate of child custody and high rates of suicide. It is quite sad.

More men are employed by the army than women and in more advanced positions. More men work "industry jobs" as most people here should be aware of thanks to the secretary stereotype I imagine many here subscribe to. Most murder is committed by men, and there is more likely to be conflict between two men then there is inter gender conflict.

Prototypical strawman argument. Where is the statistic about which gender is a victim of sexual assault more?

Combat deaths will of course skew towards men, since for the longest time women couldn't be in combat roles.

The only statistic that women win is one meant to portray them in a negative light when compared to every other statiatic in the graph.

You're cherry picking and whoever upvotes this is a tool.

Of course combat deaths are going to be higher for men than women. Women have been barred from serving in many front line roles historically.

It's going to take a long time to address this, to encourage more women to be actually able to apply, get enlisted and then hopefully die in a similar rate to men do in combat.

These numbers may all be true and it still doesn't disprove male privelige. Male privelige doesn't mean males are advantaged in every single aspect of life.

Women could produce an equally long laundry list of ways they are disadvantaged. It's not a contest of who has the longer list, and the winner gets to claim the other has privelige. It can simultaneously exist both ways.

Other than the custody thing, these don't really prove anything. More men are in the military and construction work etc. so it makes sense that there would be more deaths. It doesn't really say anything about men's rights or social standards imposed on them.

This is dumb as fuck. Ok, so, for one, there's a massive amount of sexism if you try to enter the trades as a woman. There's a massive amount of sexism if you want a combat role as a woman (and I agree there are points to be made about strength requirements, but that's another argument for another time). Men commit significantly more murders than women, and I am guessing for every man who loses custody of their child there are a significant number of single moms with deadbeat dads.

This is a fucking stupid argument all-around. Our entire society is biased against women in certain professions. Maybe if everyone was raised to see every job as equally available, but women still didn't join the professions, you might have a reason to bitch.

For the record, my BIL is an elementary school teacher. He had 0 problems becoming employed in that despite being a man. Now go read some trades forums about what women have gone through with men on the job.

Privilege isn't getting something extra. It's getting the benefit of the doubt in a similar situation as someone else who has no privilege.

Women attempt to commit suicide at a higher rate. Men are more likely to actually kill themselves. Men also commit a higher portion of homicides and it's typically towards other men especially in lower income cities with high rates of gang activity. I'd also like to see a comparison between the percentage of each gender that serves compared to deaths in service. I feel that it's so sqewed because so few women enroll.

I don't have any comments on the rest because I'm not educated in those areas, but the percent with full custody is really poorly explained and about as misleading as you can get.

Women have greater levels of custody. That does not mean they win more custody cases, it means that most of the time the separating couple agrees on a custody plan.

In fact This New England Law Review found that when both parents seek custody, the father is more likely than the mother to be awarded full custody. Typically though, the judge awards joint custody.

There are real things to worry about, like the fact that men are less likely to get child support, less likely to be helped when raped or abused, etc. Getting screwed over by the courts for custody at an institutional level just isn't one of them.

One issue I see with this other than homocide. It's that for combat deaths and industrial deaths it's mostly men that work there so statistically speaking it's normal that more men die in those cases. So an easy fix to that would be to encourage women to sign up in those positions.
