Went out with a couple of my guy friends (2 23M bros) last night. An old friend (23M) wanted to reconnect so he came with us and brought his roommates. One was a girl and made it clear she was into me pretty early into the night. At the end of the night we all went back to my apartment and she was heavily hinting at staying and started even talking about getting laid.

I was on the fence on her and ended up just ignoring it all. Eventually my old friend called them all an uber and they left. My 2 bro friends who had noticed then immediately asked why I just passed on that for nothing. I basically shrugged my shoulders and one friend responded in a way that made me think of this sub: “Ya man idk I mean she was good for a nut”.

With that was the total implication that we all saw her as hot enough to fuck but not hot enough to date. He totally was spot on for reading how the three of us saw her but it felt a little shitty. Also if she was above that “use for a nut” threshold I probably would have last night. I wonder if I just don’t want my friends to see me going below that line and that’s what stopped me

Weirdly hyped. The chain in my toilet broke on the side connected the flapper and I fixed it with just a paperclip and pliers. It is super jank but it works just as well as before, if not better.

Also figured out my fallout 4 bug. Mod list was fine. Custom INI for my profile was not. Now doing a playthrough as the frontman of Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood, just because.

Fellow Britbongs: best first car for a young driver?

I've looked at all those lists of insurance group 1 cars, tbh I'm liking the VW Up as a cheap option. Only £20 road tax, can get one with pretty low milage for only a few grand, and it does like 50 mpg. Seems like a nice cheap car to buy and run.

I also like the Fiat 500 and it's only like £1.5k to buy one and just as cheap to run (although not group 1 still it's very low) idgaf if they're stereotyped as girly cars, I wanna get one all blacked out, they look sick like that, and it's even cheaper than a VW Up while looking a lot less boxy and having more kit inside it. Have to pay the full £140 road tax on those but that's not a massive deal.

Ford Fiesta is also a contender, not insurance group 1 but the right model will be still on a low group and they're also around £1.5k and don't look like boxes either so I'm tempted by those too.

This will just be to keep for 1-2 years until I build up an NCB and earn more money, then I will buy at least an A-Class or, if my means allow it, jump straight onto a G-Wagon.

But for now I'm just looking at basic first cars so I just want something cheap to buy, cheap to run, most importantly cheap to insure. Also needs to be reliable as it's gonna be used for my daily commute.

Any input from a new driver in the UK who got a car recently, will be interested to hear experiences and suggestions. Also curious did you have to put one of those boxes in your car? All the insurance companies seem to be pushing those and promising much lower premiums after the first year if you get one, but I don't really like the idea of the bloody insurance company tracking where I drive to.

Okay so im trying to piece this theory together.

You know how women supposedly get paid less in part because they dont negotiate as good/often/sucessfully as men?

You know how women complain about guys hitting on them randonly in public, especially if the guy is "below her league"?

You know how women pretty much never put themselves out there and make the first (ACTUAL) move?

I think all of these things are tied together.

Being that the onus is on most men to make the first move and put themselves in the position of rejection much more often than women, through trial and error they acquire more skill and resiliency in situations where rejection is possible/likely, like a job interview/asking for a raise/promotion.

So ladies, the next time you complain about (allegedly) making less money or getting passed over for a promotion, remember the time you laughed at Pajeet for asking for your number. He was out gaining experience in a transferrable skill.

I am open to the idea of adopting, but I think that if I ever do it, I should wait until I'm in my early 30s. For some reason, I feel more cautious about making the 'right' choice when it comes to adoption rather than my openness to having bio kids. On a PPD relevant note, a mate of mine said that everyone he knows from university - male and female alike - doesn't wanna get married simply because they don't see the point in it.

This is a point of view that's only growing, I saw a front page story the other week about how marriage rates are now lower than ever (in the UK) as neither gender is all too interested in pursuing it anymore.

Makes perfect sense to me as marriage has no utility these days, there's literally no reason to do it anymore. The practical reasons that apply in the US like being able to share health insurance and making health decisions if your partner is unable to don't apply here either btw.
