What a week. My friend came to visit the day after I had to leave my apartment due to massive water damage (did a staycation thing, went to a hotel a few blocks away for the first night), had a report due for work Friday that my boss told me looked like shit (salvaged it though!), went out with my SO and friend, old co-worker, his friend, and a few others last night, and had to give our cat to a friend for the weekend while the apartment is dehumidified.

Still can't believe I was in a coffee shop for 7 hours on Friday though. I am absolutely hooked on Vietnamese coffee

Advice needed. Close tradcon friend's boyfriend pissed me off recently. He's a good guy overall but when he gets moody or anxious he tends to go into antisocial asshole mode. Meanwhile my friend is literally one of the sweetest human beings I know. He's her first boyfriend ever (we're both 21, he's 24ish) and she loves him a lot, and I know he feels the same way about her.

Recently after an argument (possibly because he didn't want to talk to me, or knew I didn't want to talk to him, or both) he basically had her message me on his behalf for something he needed to tell me. I was still feeling very hurt about what he had said earlier, so I told her to stop talking to me.

Well, there were multiple reasons behind that. First, I wasn't in the mood to play telephone games with someone who doesn't have the stones to talk to me directly anymors. Second, he's interested in marrying her (he's like 24, which is around the age Catholics start getting serious about marriage) and she's open to it as well. Like I said she's very new to navigating all of this and I don't want her to have choose between her best friend and the person she could very well be spending the rest of her life with. So I figured it was best to just take myself out of the equation.

Now several days later my friend seems like a wreck. We didn't become close until fairly recently so I didn't think that putting up distance between us would hurt her so much. At a gathering with other friends of ours I politely brushed her off yesterday when she wanted to make small talk and it almost looked like she was going to cry. I noticed later on that she had left. I guess it doesn't help that I'm usually a very obnoxiously huggy and energetic person with my good friends so the way I'm being now is...a pretty drastic change. Now looking back on it I feel awful and kind of want to apologize but whenever I think about doing it I remember what her boyfriend said to me and decide not to. Making up would require explaining what happened, and like I said I don't want to get between them.

TLDR: my best friend is the sweetest cinnamon roll on the planet but has the misfortune of having friends who are fucking assholes, myself included

Gah man, so this guy I know is trying to get away from his wife because she is effectively abusing him and turning their kid against him, all the money he earns is in her bank account so he's having to get his brother to pay the deposit on a flat so he can switch the money to his own account after he moves out or she will flip out.
