What is a good first date location / activity and what advantages does it have over other places?

This is somewhat general but I LOVE stuff where you can move. Like mini golf for example. When you can move around you can lead and its way easier to get physical. If you take her to dinner you can't really get physical or lead if things are going sour.

Or maybe get some food on the street and walk around, Idk if you live somewhere where its usually warm or not. But yeah basically I try to set stuff up where its easier to get a bit physical

Museum. Its free, hours of getting to know each other, you can be deep, you can be funny, but its likely something not done by most guys.

Invite her over to your house and cook something together. You'll learn a lot about each other, you can be controlling, demanding, and physical by giving her a project, and you can show off some of your true colors. Also, you'll hopefully be at home by yourself where you won't have to isolate her from a crowd or friends.

My last date I went on cost me about $35 (which included alcohol and food for both of us, I had plenty of leftovers afterwards) and I f-closed. We made our own pizzas and shared a 12 pack of Shiner. We helped each other out in the kitchen and worked as a team. We ate 2 pieces of pizza each, drank 3 more beers and she spent the night.

I've done this with 6 different girls and all of them turned out well. Even if you don't end up with her you get some good food.

Edit: Thanks for all the feedback. A lot of you are saying that this should be "2nd or 3rd date", I don't believe that at all. All this takes is confidence, attraction, and comfort... Just build a rapport with her and make it casual. I'd suggest reading /u/frogma's comment on how to approach it as more casual. Also, get out of your parents house if you're on this sub. Having your own place is going to step your game up to a whole new level, no girl past 18 is going to want to come home with a guy who still has his mom fold his clothes for him.

Depending on how well you know the girl/how comfortable you are plays a huge part into it. Since its the first meeting you can pretty much do any of the following: Coffee, Drinks, Dinner or one of those and some other activity like ice skating or going for a walk. I've been on a ton of first dates lately and every time I find myself saying, "why didn't I just keep it simple?" For a first date, I think the best overall option is coffee. Its relatively cheap, the music in most coffee places isn't overly loud so you can have a normal conversation without yelling. Most importantly, you can communicate the main points of why you are awesome to her in a short amount of time and hopefully leave her wanting more. Keep it short, simple and laid back.

Drinks are a different ball game because a guy is somewhat more likely to buy the drinks at a bar or a lounge. I shouldn't generalize but most guys pick up the tab. Depending on where you go and what you both drink it can add up quick. I went on a first date to a martini lounge and dropped $60 on two martinis each. Lets say you do that and the date goes well. Great job! Lets say the date doesn't go great...now you are out $60. This approach is exactly the same with the dinner option as well.

I say, meet somewhere that you know you will be comfortable. If you exude comfort you will be less nervous and more focused.

If your close to any body of water I would recommend that. Beach, lake or river at night with the sound of water. Usually fairly quite, if it's not cloudy the stars and/or moon are out it sets a clam relaxing mood. That's the best time to learn about someone. No distractions just the two of you.

It also opens up the conversation a bit to life and dreams in general.

It's fairly romantic, fun moving activity, and if one of you sucks there's a lot of touching involved. Of course if she sucks and is a poor sport it can turn sour.

Just about anything other than dinner in a restaurant or coffee. These are just boring as hell. I love going out to see live music as a first date. It takes a lot of pressure off you to make bullshit "get to know you" conversation because you have something to enjoy, rather than just each other's company. Anything outside is good because it removes the boundaries that most indoor settings have against kino. Do something you have experience in. Be able to know the best place to go. It's not just an art gallery, it's the best art gallery. It's not just a park, it's the best park. Have a specific reason to go there, but don't tell her. Tell her you've got a surprise for her.

A good date location is not WHAT, it is WHERE.

The date location is about Logistics.

The reason you are meeting the girl is to escalate and extract. If you can't extract then you want to let the girl leave feeling like she wants to see you again.

How do we do this?

Find an area near your place. The best day2 game is all about Venue Change and creating YOU and HER being the fun. Activities like mini-golf is ok but it takes a long time and wont create the same effect that venue changing to 2 or 3 diffferent venues will.

For instance. Going to a mall and visiting different stores will NOT have the same effect that going to an outside street area with shops and restaurants will have.

The point of venue changing will make it so her mind so that she attaches more memories to being with you.

My dates (and I pull a lot of ass - google Libra Chronicles and start reading the Seduction Chronicles part ;) ) are almost always the CLASSIC go have a drink. That's almost every pull I do. Go to the first place only have 1 drink. If the chick likes you you can say when you pay for the first round, "I got this round, you can get the next.." with a smile on your face.

only 1 drink per venue. 2 or 3 should be good. 3 is perfect but sometimes 2 or even 1 is enough meaning if she is ready to pull don't go, "Oh well I still have 2 venues left. Let's finish that first!" ;)

Then by the 3rd one you should have already seeded going back to your place to watch a movie, see your fish tank, play scrabble, smoke the hookah or whatever.

So they keys to a good day2 spot are, keep it simple. You can do amazing activities or you can keep it simple and focus on using your skills and your awesome self to pull. IF you do do some activity like putt-putt make sure you are kinoing the girl during and then make sure you bounce to somewhere else after. The risk is she wont want to bounce which is why I like faster activities.

Just make sure, whatever you do, that the activities are close to you pull pad... :)

For a long date, always plan a series of events. The only consideration is the starting and ending points. What happens in the middle is completely elastic and irrelevant if you are comfortable with women and she's worth hooking up with.

The date is about the two of you...just the two of you...not the outside world. The outside world just gets to chime in every once and a while during your date to entertain you. It helps to plan a series of short events because this psychologically brings the two of you closer due to the exaggerated stimulation of the brain in constantly changing environments. It's as if you've spent a lot more time together than you actually have. Can you think of a movie where there are only two characters doing one thing in one place for for the entire film? Nope, 'cause that would be boring as holy fuck. Even movies like Clerks (set in one boring location the entire film) rely on constantly changing characters to keep us stimulated. Same with dates.

Start out doing something typical to keep her from thinking you're a creep (casual, non-fancy dinner somewhere that isn't boring...not a trip to meet your mom), then wherever you want...a bar...coffee...a store up the street. Just start walking after dinner. Walking is an event just like dinner was. Then after that do something else short. Ice cream. Park. Pool hall. Then a walk or cab to your final, planned-out-if-everything-goes-well destination...your place. Effectively you just experienced lots of small shit together like a newlywed couple would, with the happy ending being as absolutely effortless as possible because you were leading the date in that direction from the start.

Then there's also the short date, which is awesome. Basically you make the date like it's no big deal by doing a casual dinner - walk- drinks and then heading home. She wonders why you didn't try to get her into bed on the first date and you'll be stuck in her head until it happens.

In both cases you don't have to weigh the pluses and minuses of locations because the journey is the date and the journey is entertaining because it's uniquely shared by the two of you.

I(f you can ice skate or roller blade/skate do that. They often have dance nights/events with live djs and some good tunes and it's a great way to break the touch barrier. Went on Saturday for the first time (I'm a Canadian in the UK) and we had a blast, she would fall, I'd catch her, showed her how to skate backwards (hands must be one her lower hips for this of course...for science). You get to show off a little, distinguish yourself as a gentleman/knight in shining armour, escalate a little, and it's actually a really good time.

If you really want to get to know someone, play a game with them. You'll see how they react under pressure, what kind of risks they take, are they intelligent, do they care, do they win poorly, do they lose poorly, and a variety of other emotional responses to everyday situations.

(girl here) One of the best first dates I went on was actually bar hopping downtown. One drink at maybe 5 different bars. He had plenty to talk about, so it was easy for me to relax and it also gave me time to think of things to talk about myself. We started at a sushi restaurant, but neither of us were hungry, so we hit up their awesome martini menu, then on to a themed bar called Haberdashers where the staff was dressed all old style-esque and their drink menu was from the 20's. After that, a bar we heard a jazz band playing, and then on to a well known bar that we could just grab a beer at and play pool. It was awesome! I got to experience new drinks, get some liquid courage in me to keep talking, and we ended up cuddled up together at the last bar on a love seat next to the pool table. 10/10 date, for sure!

First date.. hmm.. I always make it in a neutral location. Coming over to the house may happen but it'll happen in a latter part of the date, not initially. I take a page out a David D's book and say something like "We'll have to do this in public spot because I don't want kidnapped and/or sexually abused." Then I'll do something like starbucks or walk around the mall for a bit. My last first date (with my current SO) started that way. Then the scene got lame and I said let's go to my favorite taco place, hop in the car and off we were. We got it to go and went back to my house. And boom goes the dynamite.

My go-to first date is going out for coffee. Its casual and you can control the direction of the date basically. If you sense that things aren't going well, its easy to end it in a non awkward way. On the other hand, if it is going well and you both finish your coffee, you can transition into something else like going on a walk somewhere. You get to talk a lot in a low pressure environment. Different coffee shops have different vibes depending on the kind of girl you're taking out. And if it doesn't work out then you haven't spent much money on the date. Coffee has always worked for me. Also, my friend just used this one last weekend: he saw a cute girl he recognized as an employee at one of our local coffee shops and said "Well I can't ask you out for coffee so how about we go get lunch". Worked like a charm

Hey - I'd just like to add this because I've been going on a lot of dates lately and it's been cold / snowy / rainy here. I've gone on some fun dates like indoor rock climbing and sledding, but I've also been on more unconventional dates like going pillow shopping at Target.

Just the other day I did the traditional dinner / drinks thing, which some guys will say isn't the best way to go (and, for the most part, I agree), but the important thing to remember is that whatever you end up doing, as exciting or as boring as it is, bring an attitude of "let's make this an adventure," and keep a spontaneous attitude. Be able to see opportunity and take advantage of it.

I know you live at home, but you should choose locations that are close to your place, as it makes it easy if you guys are vibing and you want to make sensual, tender love. 75% percent of my dates end with "Let's go watch scary movies!"

One more note: "Teeth," isn't the best scary movie to watch on a date.

I really like taking a walk. There's a couple reasons. First off, I love walking myself. Then there's lots of opportunities for kino (hand on her back, take her hand to run across the street, easier in general because she's besides you, etc). It's not awkward if there are silences because you're both just walking, enjoying the walk, and not facing each other. Finally, you can have impromptu adventures along your walk, depending on what happens, where you are, context, etc.

I'm sure there are some disadvantages that people will be able to point out though, like everything.

Laser Tag. This is always good, it's physical and fun and defiantly something that's out of the ordinary that she will remember. Don't tell her where you are going just say she should wear something she can run in. When you are there ham it up and have fun with it, get her laughing and enjoying it. Then move on to get something to eat and then maybe a movie. If you do all three it will seem like you have done a lot and the Laser Tag will probably break the ice enough and get you both more relaxed... also.

Something new I've pick up, is ACTION DATING. Always have movement, somehow. Yes, I'm a film guy, love them, but action dates are awesome. Even did the Pittsburgh incline the other night with her, all of $5 for both of us. Spooky (we were the only ones on board), fun for sure, and we had a blast. Things where you MOVE together. Think there is some brain chemistry going on. Maybe back to evolutionary times. People on the move are safer with a trusting partner? Food for thought. Biking, kayaking, maybe even a long drive to check out a park. Have movement (together) involved somehow.

Casino for craps. When setting up the date tell her to dress fancy (compliance test) Go to the casino and play craps. There is a lot of opportunity for kino: high fives after wins, hand on her back while she's rolling, blowing on the dice for luck. She'll connect endorphin and adrenaline rushes with you (after a win), and she'll see your alpha-don't-give-a-fuck attitude (when you lose).

I know dates where you can move around and have plenty of natural stuff to talk about are the best (e.g. somewhere with a pool table), but in the end I mostly just go with a nice cosy pub where they have plenty of great beers, good music, a nice 'buzz' atmosphere, free jazz concerts or jam sessions every other day, and it's within walking distance of my place.

Coffee, taking a walk, and going swinging is usually my go to. It's not too big a commitment and gives you further options to expand or escalate the date if things go well.
