I think things are changing very rapidly and people are confused. People who gather here try to solve emotional problems with intellectual analysis which will never work. People like to argue and deliberately remove the grey areas and shades when they write (simplifying to make a point).

I see two ways in which the OP might be on to something.

One. When the real answer is the one answer you are trying to avoid, then it is normal to contort logic to try to make other answers fit because, of course, in the end they do not. For a lot of people, their descriptions of things get convoluted because they cannot accept the reality even of even streamlined and basic constructions of the facts of female sexual selectivity and hypergamy. People don't want to look at these facts, and their implications, squarely because such implications are inconvenient. The underlying social paradigm of modern society still remains one of wide spread monogamy with a 'democratic' conception of male sexual access to females in relationships where sexual desire is relatively equal among the genders.

Even most feminists still maintain this basic paradigm, feeling men just need to change their behavior to keep it going strong. TRP actually gets this fairly right and in a basically simple way, but then go on to over complicate things in other ways.

Two. TRP's problem is that it hopes to be able to codify the real real to an extent that isn't really possible with the levels of certainty TRP is looking for. Despite it being a bit cliche, there is kind of an underlying autistic, overly left-brained strand to TRP thinking. They want to turn art into science because they are not good artists. They want a manual to this similar to the kinds of 'How to win at Game X' kinds of manuals that work so well in many games. But science just isn't there yet when it comes to male and female sexual interaction, and TRP is guilty of a hell of a lot of very complex overreach.

This place is just funny to me. Most people want an emotional connection to someone who is attractive, can take care of themselves and has the same values. Both genders. It is hard to achieve this for both genders in different ways.

I think it is complicated.

Dating takes into account almost every aspect of your life. For most people who aren’t comfortably riding the gravy train with looks, status and finances, it takes effort to sort out what people actually want from you, how much of that you have to offer and how to get what you actually want.

Well, of course it's the same thing that's argued over and over, you can only bitch on so many topics. This place sometimes has interesting takes that make staying here worth it, but most of the time I just go outside and see the world isn't just the hellhole it's made up to be.

"People are attracted to attractive people and it sucks to be unattractive" that's what everyone says in their long blocks of texts.

What I really find funny is to think about the community of this sub reddit, that has a lot of 20's something rp men and over 30's women (the overlap) talking about dynamics that are pretty different.

What do you think?

Easy answer? It's different.

As soon as you know the hierarchy is HVM>HVW>LVW>LVM you realize that it's just women bitching that some men have it way better than them and men bitching that women have it on average better than them.

Human behavior on aggregate can be boiled down to a science, and some people like to explore that science and will spend countless hours doing so. Human behavior is not a very precise science, though. Observations that apply to the average person probably don't apply to even most people. If you're trying to attract as many people as possible, it makes sense to ponder that data and use it. If you're trying to attract a specific person, nothing else other than that person's preferences and needs matters.

People make simple things more complicated because it lets them cope that there's a way to succeed that hasn't been discovered. Attraction is plain and simple, and the vast majority is based on genetic factors. However if sexual success was some vast labyrinth of techniques, philosophy, and application, then success is a matter of understanding the "deep complexity" rather than it being more a matter of predestination. To realize that who gets pussy/high value committed dick is as simple as it appears on the surface would be too hard a hit for most guys/low value women.

There is a lot of talk, but little real discussion. It also doesn't help that TRP essentially won the debate years ago. The only real discussion today is honestly black pill vs red pill at this point, but that is banned here for good reason. I think it helps bolster the volcels who don't want to put in the work and push the black pill as an excuse. The problem is that there aren't any black pill advocates who are able to discuss anything. TRP benefited from organizing early on around actual discussion. The best of black pill advocate carpet bomb studies they didn't read from a dark basement with no replies.

You’ve summed up half of the problems encountered by this, and many other subreddits.

People like to play the blame game, make massive generalisations, over-analyse singularities, or make comparisons between gendered issues, without considering to tackle these issues case by case, or to even entertain SOLUTIONS all genders might face.

I fear a vast majority stick to their confirmation biases, rather than participating in subreddits with vastly different opinions and outlooks.

A lot of generalisations about my gender are made in this subreddit. Nothing said in this subreddit upsets/offends me anymore, and it is in this exact approach, that I find, I have changed far more peoples opinions on how they view my gender.

The takeaway from this? Join a subreddit you don’t align yourself with, you might discover a different opinion you’d be surprised to agree with.

I mean I tend to over-analyze things in general… I can’t stop it, it’s just a part of who I am. This means I kick ass at my job(s), which I love, and make a shit ton of money. It also means I work out like a fucking robot and my mental and physical health are outstanding. But that is only the majority of the pie, not the whole thing. Sometimes I wish I could turn it off, but it’s impossible so I decided to focus my extra over-analyzing energy on the most important thing in my eyes at this stage in my life — finding a good woman (who loves me and who I love) to spend the rest of my life with and have kids with.

TRP is definitely guilty of over-analyzing, but for a rational thinker like myself it showed me trends in female behavior that I just used to say “oh women are just weird like that.” I can easily decide what parts of TRP are valid and what parts are not based on my personal experience. It’s a rational way to approach the otherwise irrational aspects of dating. WHY do certain chicks claim to want nice guys but suck off every douchebag that sends a “U Up?” text? And how do I fucking spot these wastes of time so I don’t waste any actual energy on them?

As a former (and possibly future) fuck boy who’s success would’ve been 0 had I not been born with great genetics, it was like a cheat code for me.

Yes, being with someone SHOULD be simple, but finding someone worth spending the rest of your life with is not… might as well over-analyze the shit out if it then work your way back.

To me, it’s like watching game film and practicing to get better. Don’t exhaust yourself so much that you hate the game, but still do your best to “win”

Women like men that other women like.

Basically this never ending argument takes the place of actually having a sex and dating life. Not for everyone but for a good number of people here this is true.

Sometimes i see men and women arguing past each other here because the men are coming at whatever the topic is from the standpoint of sex and women from the standpoint of relationships.

For example a woman says, “looks aren’t everything.” Shes thinking about her husband she’s been with for 12 years whose hair line has receded and is getting a belly but she’s still attracted to him. She means “looks aren’t everything in a relationship.” or maybe she’s thinking of an ex boyfriend who was subjectively attractive but his behavior made her dump him.

He’s thinking “that’s bullshit! Women don’t want to have casual sex with men who are unattractive! Why do women lie/virtue signal/etc.?”

She’s not lying. You just don’t realize you’re talking about two different things.

Another example. A man says “men find most women attractive.” He means he would fuck most women that he already notices. He would not fuck an 80 year old woman for example, and he would not commit to “most” women.

She’s thinking: “that’s bullshit! I know plenty of women who aren’t conventionally attractive and have trouble finding boyfriends! Men here have no idea whats really going on out there!”

90% of the time we’re talking past each other. Which is fine as long as you’re not coming to PPD to get answers or advice. There’s none of that to be had here.

The actual reason? There's literally no mainstream discussion.

Mainstream is filled with heuristic/ sensationalist advice and deems those who try to look into in-depth discussion into dating as complaining.

Just because there isn't a clear objective way of looking at dating (except for case studies; that goes without saying that these tend to be skewed at times from data collected or they come to the wrong conclusion), that doesn't mean this won't ever be the case.

Definitely! One thing I always find interesting is the idea that women are attracted to some men BECAUSE other women are attracted to them. Couldn’t it just be that women are attracted to those men because they are attractive so the correlation is not causation. But on here people will insist it’s BECAUSE the men have other women attracted to them and that is the REASON women are attracted to them. It’s such a circular argument - and at the end of the day why does it even help to analyse that? What does it Change?

"People are attracted to what they're attracted to" - okay, given that this is true, there's no point in further discussion of these dynamics, or this sub, or the other subs, or any discussion of dating strategy at all.

The thing is, it's not true. Many women will say that after leveling up their game in make-up, they started doing better.

Men who learned pick-up finally got laid. I'd say the whole point of these subs and the "pills" is how they showed a lot of these things can in fact be "min-maxed" and analyzed, and that attraction can be gamed to a greater extent than people would like to admit.

The form and density ain't a problem as such - any discussion on a polarized topic utilizes both: dumbing down to a point of a shitpost as well as stretching into autistic detail of batshit tangents, as people switch back and forth reflecting what they deem important in a given argument vs not.

What bugs me is the ideological rigidity overall - genuinely novel tangents on the pill topic that are sound are rare, yet still frequent enough to keep me interested. It's almost always a comment that's the golden nugget in a steaming pile of poorly argued incel/spinster drivel that goes on non-stop.

Top posts, just like yours, hardly ever say anything of substance. They're not really meant to either - a lot of reddit works by electing low-effort common denominator for new threads, their role is that of a spitball for comments to converge on a topic. Subs that do promote effortposts have the usual echo-cult hugbox format. Fine for singing in a choir and icon worship, less so for spergs on a polarized topic.

People over-analyse things because they're forced to. A genuinely physically attractive person doesn't need to come to this subreddit, let alone analyse these things in great detail, because they attract people naturally as they live their life. For the ugly introverts, they don't, so everything needs to be micro-analysed so they can have at least a little bit of dating success.
