Hypergamy isn't necessarily bad. From the woman's perspective it's a means to getting more bang for her buck. If she can get a better man than she currently has then it means (to her lizard brain) she's undershot her own market value. To her, she belongs with the better man, if she can attract him. The point at which she can no longer trade up is the point where she's found her market value and should be happy. The reality of hypergamy is that if you constantly are looking for an upgrade to your current partner, you're just treating them as a placeholder for the person you really want. This reinforces the disposable nature of men that is already constantly denied by women themselves. Here is the crux: Why would a man want to commit himself to a woman knowing that potentially at the drop of a hat, his relationship is null and void because dear old Stacy thinks Johnny over there is just +1. She doesn't have to cheat, she just has to think she's now no longer getting the best deal. She may even feel conned by her current man!

To sum up: Hypergamy in and of itself is amoral. It's not good or bad. It's like an axe, you can chop down a tree and burn the wood in a fireplace to keep a family warm during the winter. Or you can kill someone in cold blood with it. It very easily can be a bad thing if women continuously scan the horizon when already commiting themselves to someone. Even then, it's not necessarily bad. Maybe her current partner takes a turn for the worse, or is actually toxic to her (as in, toxic toxic, not what women say when they complain a man is toxic), in that case, by all means, flip that hypergamy switch and start looking lol. It's a part of female nature that needs to be controlled, by women themselves, for their own benefit and the mutual benefit they may enjoy in a committed relationship. If they have no desire for commitment and just want the best of the best for its own sake, then have at it, slay queen!

edit: a large reason why men hiss like a cat when hypergamy is brought up is because more often than not they're on the losing side of it. The average man is seen as having far less value than his own literally average female counterpart. There is an inherent unfairness men feel, which is valid, but not necessarily something women are doing wrong and imposing on men. This also ties into the TRP idea that women just "are" and men must "become". Men are perfectly valid to revile something (hypergamy) which when wielded improperly by women harms them. I say improperly not in the sense that women owe men anything at all, but in scenarios where a woman was perfectly happy with their partner until one day Chaddius++ catches her eye and now suddenly it's the beginning of the end, even if she has zero chance with him. Ah sexual dynamics are fun, aren't they?!

I don't think that most people think there is anything wrong with slight hypergamy in women, but average men don't like it when average women are too hypergamous and are only attracted to men way out of their league, as it's sexual hypergamy that is complained about the most in this sub.

Men also don't like it when women are disloyal in their hypergamy and branch swing to even better men when there is supposedly nothing wrong with the current man whom they are with.

I don't think anyone sees anything wrong with a woman trying to attract the highest caliber mate she can. Then she marries him, squirts out 2.5 kids, is a traditional homemaker wife and they live happily ever after. That's hypergamy.

I think most men regardless of their pill color object to women constantly seeking to trade up by monkey branching from a top 10% man to a top 5% man as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Especially if she led Mister 10% along. That's also hypergamy.

When we push for gender equality and more women are attaining high status, wealth and educational levels. There will be intense competition for the men at the very top. Then women will be forced to "settle" for guys below them who don't like to find out they are the 3rd choice or something.

A lot of these guys believe they are a great catch and are valuable to society. So this causes friction makes relationships hard. When men dominated the top of hierarchies, they married "down" and did not call it that. Now that we welcome competent women to the top of these pyramids, I feel like they should also be open to marrying "down" without acting like they are doing the guy a favor.

The problem is that the internet put people ineccho chambers and cranked everything up to maximum. So you arent comparing yourself to your neighbors, but that one guy on instagram who only posts his best moments. So standards are through the roof and this reflects more in women since they already tended to have more requirements when choosing men.

It also makes sense that women, especially pre-women entering the workforce, were hypergamous because marrying up was the only way to make your life better since you couldn't work or get an education.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it per se. However the degree to which alot of women take it is ridiculous. Demanding men make over 6 figures. Demanding men be able to pay all their bills. Demanding men be over 6 feet.

I think realistic hypergamy is fine. It's the delusional hypergamy for me. Women don't know what they own "price" is and how much they can realistically demand. They all have the same generic standards as other, more high "priced" women. And it's not helping them.

Hypergamy in its original form is the basis of civilisation, but it presents some unique problems in the modern world.

First, RP have refined hypergamy to mean hypergamy + branch swinging. Meaning something like the second her current man is displaying some signs of weakness or that she sees the opportunity to jump to a higher status man, she will be gone.
I also think hypergamy + the imaginary illusion of infinite choice presented by online dating / the display of mostly fantasy Instagram lifestyles throws a curveball to many women. Leading many women to hold out for a man who can fulfill her impossible high standards, and instead ending up unfulfilled and/or single & childless.
Women's increasing higher educational and career attainments mean that the pool of available men who can fulfil hypergamy for these women is small and shrinking. Hypergamy means a lot of high educated women end up single and childless. Probably not good for them, or ideal for the genepool.

Woman also rate themselves off the men that use them casually. An 8 man may drop to a 5 or even a 4 woman if nobody is looking. as a result Many woman are walking around thinking they are 7s or 8 and wanting 9-10. when actually they are 4-6 average looking. Then as they age. Alpha widow. The term “where have all the men gone”. Basically she can’t see men above her anymore as what she used to attract at 21 is different to 31. Alpha widow.

There is nothing wrong with hypergamy, or any other aspect of female sexual nature, or male sexual nature for that matter. Nor is there anything to be done about it unless we are willing to let the genetic engineers hack away at it, a project I would not favor. Having said that, all successful civilizations understand that humans cannot always act on their genetically determined sexual nature if we want civilization to continue. No fault divorce laws , which allow women to indulge their hypergamous nature and divorce rape their husbands come at a cost. So does women postponing marriage into their thirties after riding carousel for a decade and a half. Women are not "wrong" to be as evolution has made them, but human sexuality ends up being subject to a certain amount of societal regulation, however anyone feels about that.

Hypergamy is not "wrong" for any given definition of that word, but if indulged in certain ways it carries a cost, and that cost is becoming prohibitive to the larger society.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with hypergamy and if a man understands it, he should work on improving his lot so that he can diversify his holdings in female assets. You don't buy one stock and you don't buy into one woman, you have to rotate through different growth stocks (women). Women are always looking for what's better and there are other guys looking to buy in.

Women don't realize that they have been commoditized and that's sad. Men who get it will just rotate through buying and selling. However, like the financial markets, men who don't diversify or invest end up losing. Yes, women, you are absolutely being bought and sold by the upper 20% of men.

When you're a man, all you have to do is focus on being the best you can be. There's no shot clock on you, women have the shot clock. It's the dark part of humanity that is easily exploitable.

Simping benefits and inflates the value of women. However, the upper 20% of men should be able to easily notice that these women are overbought and that creates attraction. If you are in the upper 20%, you act like it and you just rotate her through, achieving what the simps wish they could be doing with her. The percentage of men that are higher value to women should be higher, but there is no such thing as average anymore. There are more extremes in our society and hypergamy has followed suit.
