So I’m constantly trying to better myself and open my mind, and working on myself and my relationships is really important to me. It’s what brought me to this sub originally. Given this, I’m a big New Years resolution person even though I know they’re lame.

I’ve been actively trying to repair my dating life and methods and am trying to work on myself in order to have healthier romantic relationships since I’ve basically been repeatedly epic failing at dating my whole life.

So it got me thinking, what if I made a New Years resolution to say ā€œyesā€ to all dates( as long as it’s not like safety issue) I feel like there are times I’ve said no because I thought a guy wasn’t my type, or just didn’t like how he approached me, or just didn’t feel a connection.

I have seen a lot of people say on here I might having trouble because I’m picking guys that aren’t good for me, ā€œchadsā€ or whatever, basically guys that may be physically attractive but have lots of options and because they’re out of my league are never going to want to date me. So that’s where I kind of got this idea.

I don’t know if this is a good idea at all. Like I don’t wanna be out there using guys I don’t like, but I also feel like I should be getting to know people better before I decide how I feel about them. I don’t really view it as settling, so much as being more open? But idk if I’m glamorizing this idea to myself

I always offer to go halfsies, always let them know we’re both young professionals and I’m cool to pay, even make a joke that it’s not a test, but inevitably I know most times the guy will end up paying, so that’s really what gives me the most hesitation, I don’t want to use men like I really don’t

I know this opens up a can of worms, about attraction and pre selection and so many complicated things about whether attraction can grow and all that but it’s just something I’ve been thinking about and I’m trying to go about it the right way.

So basically I’m asking, would you rather go out with a girl who may not be super into you at first who wants to try things out and see where they go aka ā€œgiven a chanceā€ or would you rather just not have your time wasted?

Any notes/tips on how I can maybe work on my dating life this year are also welcome. J
