For real. I always, always make it a point to see women health care professionals whenever possible. I've exclusively gone to women psychologists in the past, even before fds. Not because it was aware of the dangers of male professionals, it's because I the few models of "responsible adult" men I had in my life were absolutely not responsible or dependable in any way. Back then I only ever experienced men downplaying women's struggles. Something innate in me was trained to not go to men for help especially when the help in question is so sensitive. It didn't feel like a man, even a good and caring man, would understand fully what women go through.

Wow. I live in Japan and refuse to see male doctors as they're largely incompetent, unprofessional, and inappropriate. I've had them talk over me, patronize me, one even laughed while he was trying to treat me.

Every female doctor I've had here has been the complete opposite.

I used to have an office next door to a therapist. His voice really carried and I could hear most of what he said. He spent so much of the sessions talking about himself! No one hires a therapist to learn about what movies the therapist likes! He would try to make analogies to obscure movies and then have to tell the whole freaking plot to get to his point. It really put me off getting help when I was ready to do that.

He told me a story of another male therapist that lost their license for whipping out his penis and masturbating during a session. He thinks that guy will get his license back because "he's a sex addict getting treatment." No, I never want that other therapist to get their license back. Ever.

I had a fabulous music teacher, very talented, took lessons for years. His much younger beautiful and talented wife got early onset dementia which is progressing fast.The last lesson I had with him was him spending 80% of my very expensive class time explaining how she wasn't the perfect wife all through the marriage and he needed to move on. Pre FDS I would have sympathized more, but in my experience listening to men complain about their current marriage (regardless of the reality) never led anywhere good and was eventually a segue to the dirty Hail Mary pass. My respect for him as a human has evaporated. I sat there thinking, whelp, too bad, he's so talented. But I'd rather have a talented woman teach me anyway

I'm currently pregnant, and going to a women's health center that's covered by my insurance. They have a variety of doctors that I'm supposed to meet and get to know throughout my appointments. The first doctor they had me with was a male doctor, and he shoved the sonogram wand into my vagina so painfully that I had to beg him to stop (if you didn't know, your first sonogram is done internally because the baby is too small to be seen through your stomach). The second doctor I had was a female doctor, and she was as sweet and gentle with everything as was possible. She was amazing. I'm scheduling the rest of my appointments with their female doctors only.

So even if a male doctor isn't a weirdo, he still probably doesn't have the full empathy towards women you'd want him to have, nor more than just a theoretical knowledge of how a vagina works (as in, he probably knows a lot of medical things about it, but didn't know or care that he was hurting me).

When I was a teenager I had a psychiatrist touch my hair and make inappropriate comments to me. He kept asking me about my sex life and when I refused to discuss (I was there for sexual trauma), he got belligerent. I screamed for my mom (in the waiting room), and she came in. He told her I had major issues and tried to diagnose me with bipolar disorder after 30 minutes (not possible, and in the decade since, I was never diagnosed with that). A few years later, several underage patients came forward alleging he molested them. He never saw prison, and on the news, said these girls were all disturbed and mentally unwell.

Due to mental health stigma, a lot of practicioners and providers are predators. They get away with it because their patients are "crazy." Look out for yourself and your friends and family. It's way more common than it seems and there's rarely any consequences.

I don’t understand the tactic men try to use to ‘scare’ women into settling down with someone, anyone, before they “expire.” If every woman expires at a certain point, what would be the purpose of settling down if the implication is you’ll just keep getting traded out?

I’m a doctor and I have seen batchmates look at the bodies of female patients of road accidents in emergency rooms while doing ECG .... Girls beware of male doctors ... not all of them , but most of them are like this mentally . They either will patronise ur issues , minimise your pain , make u feel like shit for being too much trouble , dismiss your fears as a woman or hit on u . Most of them do check u out and think of u .

I’m just so sad that she thought this might be normal because “psychiatrists are more open with their patients”. Your doctor should never act like this — you’re the one who’s more open with a psychiatrist, not the other way around!

I went to a male psychiatrist (mistake) first time for my ADHD. After he repeatedly ignored my complaints about the meds he was giving me and my concerns with various things, and talked down to me like a child about my own experiences, I moved to a female psychiatrist. Now I all but refuse to see male doctors unless absolutely necessary

People always want to say the psychiatry field is "so woke" and for nobody to go to them but they don't realize it's full of guys like this who believe this BS. No, your balding low T barely working peen with autistic sperm is not in it's prime. Male T, sperm count, sperm quality and erection ability peaks at age 21. Male AND female earning ability peaks at around 45. Which is why these guys think that's their peak* Large age gaps were never historic (max was 3 years average and 5 years during times of extreme poverty) and aren't in places where women have autonomy. It's only in modernity when society is grooming pick mes and sugar babies and men being delusional with porn to think this is remotely natural. Seeing losers grooming young women play out more and more daily in real life is making me fume.

They really tell on themselves that they value women for looks and fertility, which is why this guy thinks 20 is her prime (all downhill from here sweetheart, get me while the getting is good!). Meanwhile they value men for business success and being at the top of his hierarchy, which is why they think 35-55 is more of their prime. The sad thing is that such a myopic view of human beings is soul-destroying for both men and women.

Once someone is past his/her “prime”, society deems them less valuable, even expendable. I think our society’s view of that is why (at least in the US) we didn’t take COVID seriously enough in many areas, because of the idea that it only affects those who are already old and sick, on their way out, and it’s not worth adjusting ones life to save them.
