Guys generally don't have a problem if a girl wants to hold out for a little bit if it's consistent with her behavior, but with the guys that she's actually attracted to if they had sex on the first date or were able to get a Friends with Benefits situation and yet you're the guy that she wants to make wait for 2 months, 3 months, that's basically a sign that she's not that attracted to you but you might have other relationship quality traits that she can use, and I advise guys to look out for that sort of thing because you're getting a shit deal and never going to get her best that way, that's where the issue lies

So let me get this straight. In short term relationships men get put into a box regardless of their intentions, but men in long term relationships have to jump through a bunch of hoops unilaterally.

I think almost all of these posts miss the point. The truth is that there could be MANY reasons a woman makes one guy wait and another guy not wait. SOME of them could be about attractiveness.

But the bottom line is context is king. Each situation is different. You don't really know why a specific woman at a specific time is making you wait for sex until you find out her specific reasons. Or maybe you never do.

This is a very straightforward explanation of the unselfaware female perspective on things, it's not likely to convince many.

Here is how things actually go down: Women are aware that highly attractive men have options, and there is stiff competition from other women for those men. The man could lose interest at any moment and wander off after any of the myriad other women interested in him. Awareness of this fact causes them to experience anxiety if they manage to catch the interest of such a man. They know that men value sex, so in an effort to keep the man interested they will very often lead with sex with such men, giving it up early and with few obstacles. It's similar to how man have a tendency to 'lead with their wallets' if they perceive a value discrepency in the woman's favour.

The less attractive the man is the less worried the woman will be that he will lose interest and wander off, and the less she has lost if he does do so. This lack of an ability to generate strong feelings of anxiety is a large part of the reason why regular degular 'nice guys' get called 'boring'. In such a situation, the sex will tend to occur on the woman's schedule, rather than the man's, as in the first example, which will generally be later.

All of that adds up to the common observation that the more attractive you are as a man, the sooner sex will happen and the less bullshit and fewer hoops you have to jump through to get to it.

It's true that on average women like it less and engage with it less than men. But it happens. I'd say most women have done it at least once. Many might only do it 2--4 times. But it happens. And generally if you are engaging in casual sex it's going to be with a hot guy.

It also assumes that women are always rational. Which we are not. That's okay. Neither are men.

Yes lots of women wait to see if the other guy is intrested in more than sex. But that same woman may or may not have had a fling or two previously. And attractiveness plays a part in casual sex.

If men get butt hurt over that sure, thats their issue. Don't date someone with a past if it bothers you.

I think you got it quite right, it really matches with my experiences and informations i got from talks with various women. I would add however that STR are often focused on a lot of light and fun interactions as in my experiences women dont want overserious men for STR. This seems to be the deciding factor for interest in STR.

I think it is important to mention there are other reasons why women want to wait. But for interest in LTR to wait is not just common for women but also for men.

I can only speak for myself. I've never been one to just lay down with a man no matter if he is physically attractive, mentally stimulating, or personally engaging. I've never even entertained sleeping with someone on the first, second or even fifth date. 🤷🏿‍♀️ but that's me and other women who operate in the same manner.

IMO it's very simple.

Women like sex. Women want orgasms. She has sex with a guy on the first night, because she thinks she is going to have a good time.

Maybe he's fun and playful. Maybe he's flirtatious. Maybe he is non judgemental.

It's not about hotness. It's about that man and his aims and boundaries. A guy who is down for no strings attached sex gets laid because he 8s offering women something. A decent guy, who loves women, doesn't judge them for having sex, wants mutual pleasure and fun. Is carefree, giving in the bedroom, passionate and understanding, knows how to vibe and match her energy. Knows how to bring the energy up and up in terms of flirting and sexuality.

He offers women something they rarely find. A good pleasurable lay. A fun night with someone who doesn't just see women as objects or even worse, puts them on a pedestal.

So why do women make the rest of men wait weeks or months for sex? I have no idea. Other than she doesn't think it will be good sex. Why do women want to date men they know are lackluster in bed? I think it's cuz most men are and women just accept their fate.

I’ve heard this line of logic before. It makes sense logically but people are rarely logical or rational. Someone can say it and it can be true to them. But they can also be disingenuous with themselves and want their cake and eat it too. Sex is a bargaining tool. It’s part of the relationship dynamic. So this sort of logic allows one to maintain sex as a bargaining tool by adding a LTR attached to it while also not giving up sex (or the bargaining power of it). The biggest issue is consistency.

Imagine having a used Ferrari that you want to sell. You allow someone to test drive a Ferrari without so much a background check. It’s your right, you want to have fun, go for a joy ride. That’s what Ferraris were made for. However, you make someone else go through hoops and pay for it to “make sure they’ll treat it well”. You really care about your Ferrari, it’s your baby. But you eventually want to sell it. It was given to you at 18 and you have other plans than owning a Ferrari your whole life. Every time you let someone test drive it for fun, it lowers the value of the Ferrari. Does the one buying it get to test drive it? Only if they’re in the fun category and never intend to buy it? The logic really starts to break down because there are split intentions and someone is trying to have their fun with the Ferrari while also getting a good price selling it used. Note, there are plenty of other Ferraris out there, new ones being made, and other cars too.

I hate to compare a woman’s sexuality to a Ferrari. But the logic of the OP is the sort of thing where people mismanage their relationship logic, not recognizing how applicable the Ferrari logic is when it comes to a market place based on sexual value. (I purposely avoided the term SMV). We live in a capitalistic and global economy and our culture has turned everything into a market. However, meaningful relationships are not a market. They’re about committing to something greater than ourselves. But we treat them like they are because market dynamics appear to be the only way to interact with one another. Since we treat relationships like markets when their not, we get very odd dynamics as outlined in the OP.

I don't think women do it all the time, but it's a learning experience a lot of women have when they are trying to figure out men. Men would do the same if somehow attractive women were picking them up; they'd fall for whatever cheesy lines until they eventually wised up (in this hypothetical role reversal men might find "being used" less of a problem, but neither do all women find it a problem, some think it's fun while it lasted and this may not be the national crisis PPD thinks it is, but that's another topic).

In order for your statement to be true, I would have to believe that women never cheat, or don't willingly become mistresses. You would have to explain why women are willing to sleep with homeless men too, without wanting a LTR while your at it.

It really just depends on what they are looking for.

I think women who want relationships will most likely make men wait and get to know them before having sex with them.

Women who aren’t looking for relationships won’t make men wait but will most likely only sleep with hot/attractive men because really… the sexual attraction is the only thing that matters & she most likely has options.
