Incel is such a widely used term by feminists, that it doesn't have a meaning anymore. Anyone they don't like is called an incel.

[–]Amazing-Bit6140 90 points91 points92 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It's losing it's specificity for sure, that doesn't mean it doesn't have a meaning.

It means "Not approved of by women as a class", and they want to get anyone in that category on a terrorist watchlist, arrested, or killed.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Tell me about it.

Most incels are docile, but there has been a media campaign that misconstrues who they are.

[–]degustibus 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, well Eliot Roger and a couple others went out of their way to make their violent acts supposedly emblematic of a movement. If the media loves a group or idea you can burn down hundreds of buildings and murder people and the party line is "mostly peaceful protests", but if you're talking about something Republican then when one unarmed woman gets shot through the neck needlessly, well she was a horrific threat to our sacred government and the fed cop who did it is the American dream, a man from South America who gets to shoot a crazed Karen to protect us all. Nevermind that Ashli Babbit was an honorably discharged vet.

[–]Amazing_Rope_Police 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, well Eliot Roger and a couple others went out of their way to make their violent acts supposedly emblematic of a movement.

Should we make a list of domestic terrorists and violeng saboteurs who claimed to be feminists?

[–]degustibus 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean there are women murderers, but I don't recall m/any who framed their killing as a political movement... Aileen Wournos said she hated men and the movie tried making her an antihero for striking back at men, but what do you want from a woman who took a boy out of African and is turning him into her captive daughter. The various nurse killers are usually in it for thrills or as self declared angels of mercy. The eugencis movement is antinatalist and sort of a feminist enterprise but really about men culling the herd and turning women into fleshtoys. If you know of some please share.

[–]aussievirusthrowaway 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can't compare street chaos with a planned attempt to stop the rightful transfer of power in a democracy

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Huh? I don't recall the media condoning Ashli Babbit or Eliot Roger.

It's also the job of the media to capitalize on extraordinary news, and anecdotal evidence sticks better in the minds of viewers.

It would be boring to report on the dry statistics that the majority of incels are not mass shooters. When a mass shooting is reported, people start to develop that as an availability heuristic.

You can look at some data here: https://www.theviolenceproject.org/mass-shooter-database/

I think it was 4% that had a history of misogyny. So please, stop categorizing incels as potential mass shooters.

[–]Lurker_IV 73 points74 points75 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I love it when they say people like Elon Musk give off "incel vibes".

As if billionaires can't get any.

[–]Angryasfk 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He certainly does! He even had the dubious pleasure of Turd.

[–]denisc9918 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Show a bit of respect mate, it's 'The Turd'..

Also please don't put that and pleasure in the same sentence.. <shudder>..

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As if a dude who has fathered children with multiple women hasn't gotten any.

[–]degustibus 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Elon has 9 kids and counting by multiple women. He has dated all sorts of women, but no fat feminists.

[–]denisc9918 31 points32 points33 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

<shrug> I don't mind being labelled an Incel. Means I've pissed off a FFeminist so y'know.. Job done..

My gf thinks it's funny too.

[–]aknabi 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, get that all the time from feminists and their simps here on Reddit… and when I mention I’m a progressive with a beautiful wife 20 years younger who also pulls her weight on the bills, they shout back what my life can’t be… they’ve got their heads so far up their asses they’re driving away folks that actually have the same viewpoint (I’m all for good healthcare /education and for true racial/gender equality… as all of that makes everyone more successful… but that’s not what these folks want)

[–]monsterahoe1 points 3 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

The fact that you think “20 years younger” is a flex is embarrassing

[–]aknabi 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ain’t a flex, it’s a statement of fact… well actually it is a flex… not embarrassed at all… guess you need to present that way that when you can’t pull the same

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are very angry that their shaming is starting to be less effective on men. They get even more very angry when you point out that it's their own fault that's happening. They've run every one of their go-to insults and shaming words into the ground. Incel, misogynist, creep, weirdo, loser...they all just mean a person, usually male, who did or said something that at least one woman did not approve of.

[–]Cookiedoughjunkie 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yup, I just saw this post on trueoffmychest where they blamed a guy who gave free drinks to a girl he was interested in and when she said she wasn't interested stopped.

"He's an incel who expected sex!" actually, he said nothing of the fucking sort, you lunatic.

"It's not about the free drinks!" yes it is, you think she should keep getting free drinks. There's nothing else here.

[–]Sidewinder702 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If incel is such an insult then wouldn’t the opposite be the ideal then? A guy like Andrew Tate or some chad who pumps and dumps lots of girls.

[–]Hopeful-redemption 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ironically enough, Tate actually went out on a date with Peterson's Daughter.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ironically a lot of people call him an incel

[–]Sidewinder702 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol

[–]BTS_on_a_bicycle 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The term was coined by a lonely female, and when you tell feminists that, they freak out on you.

[–]PactScharp 215 points216 points217 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Who fucking cares what some Hollywood hack has to say?

[–]EvilPlottingRacoon 35 points36 points37 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The movie looks uninteresting, and as has rightfully been said this is a failed attempt at free publicity to stir up some controversy. Because Warner Brothers has run out of money.

[–]PactScharp 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I haven't even seen the trailer & I have no clue what it's about & I really don't give a fuck either.

[–]Cfunk_83 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Have you seen the messages she exchanged with Shia LaBeouf? Oh, man! It’s the absolute worst kind of new-aged Hollywood “mindful” bullshit.

[–]PactScharp 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I didn't care enough to read about it... saw it pass through my fee, but I thought "whatever".

[–]63daddy 158 points159 points160 points 3 years ago (47 children) | Copy Link

The number of men who are actually incels is very small. One doesn’t need to be a math wiz to understand the vast majority of those who listen to Peterson are non incels. Clearly her point is to disparage men who listen to Peterson as well as insult him. In part she’s using an ad hominem. She can’t argue against his points so she’s disparaging him and his listeners.

[–]turbulance4 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Her point is to stir up controversy so people will talk about the movie. This is advertising. And it's working.

[–]63daddy 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point. People often don’t even remember the issue, but it’s essentially free advertising.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is a typical tactic women use - when they can't get their way, they insult and belittle others, and try to shame them into submission.

That is what is happening here.

[–]Dunkolunko 32 points33 points34 points 3 years ago (37 children) | Copy Link

About 1/4 to 1/3 of men between 18 and 30 have been celibate for over a year. Incels aren't even outliers anymore.

[–]63daddy 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Choosing to go without sex for a while doesn’t make one an Incel.

[–]KDulius 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly.

There are a bunch of reasons not to have sex with a women. Religion being one, but the whole "no dick in crazy" rule is certainly a valid reason.

I went on plenty of dates before my last girlfriend, many of them i could have taken home for the bed sheet sidestep but they were either crazy, boring, hot but just not that interesting when i got them on a date or a combination of all 3

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There is a collection of men who aren't having sex. However, I have never met anyone who actually calls themself an incel. It seems to be an urban myth.

[–]Dunkolunko 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh nobody likes calling themselves incels because it's used as a slur. I just think if you want to have sex more than just a little but have gone a year without it, you pretty much are an incel, and I'm not using that as a slur. Obvioudly there's grey area, but I don't think volcel is the right term just because youre so beaten down by the dating market you can't handle putting all the wasted effort in for little to no reward.

[–]MelodiousTones[🍰] -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

incels.is

[–]KDulius 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Celibate for a year doesn't mean shit.

What about men who are dating but are picky about who they take back home?

I was celibate for ~3 years before my last girlfriend, not because I didn't have options but because the options sucked

[–]Hayekr 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was celibate for ~3 years before my last girlfriend, not because I didn't have options but because the options sucked

Sucked? What guy wouldn't want an in-debt, overweight single mom with tattoos that goes through a case of White Claw every weekend? Your standards are unrealistically high.

/s

[–]erdtirdmans 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago* (18 children) | Copy Link

In- vs. Vol- is an important distinction. Incels are often the crazy fuckers who hate women. Volcels are probably just vibing and handling their shit, too distracted or disenchanted with the Tinder-style dating scene that's out there and assuming they'll find the right person when it matters through social circles like in the old days

Edit: Autocorrect hates vibing apparently

[–]Dunkolunko 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Do you really think more than a tiny fraction of celibate men are celibate because having sex just diesn't matter much to them?

[–]Redbearded_Monkey 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yeah peace matters most

[–]Dunkolunko 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Is that because sex doesn't matter or because it's an arduous and stressful task to acquire it?

[–]EvidencePlz 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Very stressful and unnecessarily complicated indeed. I'll answer it from my perspective as a 100 percent MGTOW person who hasn't had sex since 2016. To me it matters quite a lot, specially when I fall somewhere between medium to high libido. But when I do a cost+risk vs benefit analysis, the price I'll have to pay and the risks I'll have to take ain't worth it to me, and the result of the analysis (or calculation even) turns me off big time to the point that I no longer have the mental and physical stamina required to pursue it.

I classify myself as a MGTOW, and I'm no incel, volcel etc. I don't hate women or anyone else for that matter. I firmly believe I'm not entitled to receive sex or anything else from any woman. If I go home from work tomorrow and there is a woman voluntarily willing and waiting to give me a BJ or vaginal sex at home, will I refuse it? Definitely and absolutely not. But it has to be 100 percent free, voluntary and also free from all forms of obligations. She also has to prove that she's safe to do it with, and for that she has to pass criminal background check and STD tests, sign consent forms, and will need to bear the full cost of buying and installing 24/7 CCTV cameras in my house for my safety, so that she can't make false accusations of rape, sexual harassment etc against me.

I can announce to women in public I want to have sex, just like I'm doing now, but I'm not buying anyone a fucking drink or pretending as if I'm a romantic person. I'm not willing to pay anyone a penny for this or use my hard-earned free time to seduce someone.

I say all this mentioned above to indicate that as much as I'd like to have sex with women again, the penalty I'll have to pay if and when something goes wrong is way too high for me to even bother to pursue sex with them in the first place.

If a woman wants to bear the full cost and is willing to fulfill my requirements mentioned above, I'll be more than willing to participate. Until then, my 30 terabyte collection of porn, VR porn, 5 fleshlight male masturbators and my upcoming purchase of high quality, highly realistic sex torsos and full size life-like companion dolls will fully meet my sexual needs.

[–]thejosecorte 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Damn, this is exactly what I do. Almost Word by Word. Sadly too broke to buy good sex torsos, but hoping to get there someday.

[–]EvidencePlz 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't ever despair. If you can't afford it right now, keep saving. Price keeps going down and better technologies are being implemented. By the time you end up affording one, you will have a better and more realistic companion doll.

In the meantime, as you are saving up, don't fall into the deadly trap of paying women for sex. And by "paying women for sex" I'm not referring to sex workers. I'm referring to our current gynocentric, anti-male, anti-masculine modern society that imposes heavy and hardcore life-changing, harmful and self-destructive legal, emotional and financial penalties on men who wants to have sex with women, while cunningly labelling the whole exercise as "romantic, long term relationship, marriage, love" etc in an attempt to fool and paralyze you permanently for life.

It's much better not to play the game at all when you already know it's rigged from the start. You have already lost the game through no fault of your own way before you stepped into the field. Why play it then?

Go MGTOW, take care of yourself, enjoy this short and temporary life to its fullest, best to your abilities and keep these worthless gynocentric parasites at bay.

[–]bigdtbone 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Either way it is still voluntary.

[–]Redbearded_Monkey 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look you keep trying to simplify the situation to one or the other. Like most things in life there are any number of reasons one would choose not to pursue a sexual interest to many different levels per person and per situation. If you are looking to grasp the reasoning behind one might, the best advice I can give you is to ask yourself what that would be for you.

[–]erdtirdmans 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Yeah of course. Sex has always ranked pretty low in importance for me personally, and I've known a few people for whom sex is low on their priorities. Not everyone is led by their dicks, man

[–]Dunkolunko -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Low enough that if girls were openly interested in you with no strings you would still reject it for a year or more at a time?

[–]erdtirdmans 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Well obviously I'd go for that. I'm not horny. Doesn't mean I'm crazy!

If you find a bunch of women who are tryin'a get no strings with an average-looking dude, hmu

[–]Dunkolunko 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well there you go.

[–]erdtirdmans 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I feel like you're using an overly strict definition of volcel if you're only including people those people and not including the many people who have more or less fallen out of the dating market due to either prioritizing careers and stuff, depression, or a generalized apathy to the topic

[–]Dunkolunko 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I feel like you have an overly strict definition of incel if you're excluding men who want sex but don't seek it voraciously because the sheer amount of effort and likelihood of failure is overwhelming so they don't want to put themselves through the turmoil most of the time.

[–]Soda_BoBomb 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No strings being the very important qualifier there lol

[–]Liberated_Asexual 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I agree with your implied point. I think pretending like it's all voluntary decision/action to be as such is rather misleading. As bar bar said, "most men are one blowjob away from the plantation".

[–]Infamous-Mark-8434 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What about those that want sex but don't want to have sex with those curvy models just because society says they are sexy. Or those that want sex but don't want it with someone who's sex is their only personality. Or those that want women to make the move because feminism. With all this equal rights the past 50+ years I wonder how many non famous men have been asked out on a date by a female during that time period.

[–]Breaker-of-circles 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't this just mean that either the same number of women are also celibates or they're fucking the same dudes, which is kinda sad regardless of which.

[–]Dunkolunko 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

About 1/5 of women are celibate in the same period. They fuck a smaller pool of men. The difference is 99.5% of women could go to a bar and say "Hey, wanna fuck?" to the first 5 decent looking men she sees and one would call an uber to take her to his place. Incel women aren't a thing. Women are the gatekeepers of sex. Them being celibate is a choice.

[–]Automatic_Machine450 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Getting sex for women isn't a "win" for them. Getting a man to marry them is. A woman can get fucked as much as she wants, but a man that wants a wife doesn't see the value in marrying a woman who stays in the streets.

Some modern women project what they see as value in a partner. They value men with money who are wanted by other women, so they do those very things: acquire high paying jobs and become promiscuous. They don't realize men value different things in a partner than they do. Men don't care about how much a woman makes, and men aren't biologically wired to prefer mating with promiscuous women.

[–]rm-rd 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, more women can have sex, but women are less likely to have a good time in a hook-up, and there's more risks. It takes zero skill or effort to get a guy off. It takes a fair bit of skill / compatibility for a woman to have a good time. Women in bed are like pizza - there might be a difference, but even a sub-par pizza is still pizza if you're hungry. Men are more like sushi - if you pick them up at a gas station then you're playing a dangerous game for very little reward. When it comes to relationships it's different, but for casual sex there's a lot of imbalances.

Feminists often say "if guys want to get laid, they can go on Grindr". I wondered why they were saying it since it's maybe homophobic (though a lot of feminists are willing to throw gay men under a bus if push comes to shove). Then I realised that they're probably really thinking "and you'd probably have as much fun as I did when I went home with some random guy in a bar".

[–]Breaker-of-circles 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, I don't know about the US, but fucking around over here is never seen as good.

[–]Liberated_Asexual 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can do it privately very easily nowadays.

[–]Aspiengineer 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

women who can hardly get any actually do exist, but there is only a tiny number of them compared to men.

There are so much people on this planet, you will get at least dozens of the most unlikely people.

[–]Dunkolunko 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, hence 99.5%. To not get any as a woman you pretty much have to have no shape, nothing that fits a mildly common fetish, and something that gives the impression you have a severe disability or congenital issue.

[–]Whitemagickz -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

When does this data come from? With first COVID and now monkeypox, it is no surprise to me that people just aren’t having sex.

It's sad. These are the same people that don't want others to judge women for their sexual activity, but turn around and judge men for their perceived lack of sexual activity. Talk about a double standard.

It's actually refreshing to hear women directors come right out with their biases against men that they intentionally put in their films. I don't even have to bother wondering if I should watch it. This one's going straight to VHS. Five stars.

She said: “[Incels are] basically disenfranchised, mostly white men, who believe they are entitled to sex from women.

I can’t claim to speak for incels or MGTOWs or any other male subculture. I do happen to think there are a great many men out there who, like myself, have no idea how to interact with women in a way that’s considered socially acceptable and which they also find sustainable.

[–]Amazing-Bit6140 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yup. Juice ain't worth the squeeze syndrome.

Doesn't matter to her, tho. If you aren't on the plantation serving women, you're a dangerous incel nazi who needs to be put down.

[–]XavierMalory 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

^ This right here.

God forbid you define your self-worth by things you yourself care about, instead of what someone else (in this case women) deem is of value in you.

Times like these I’m glad I had my fun in my younger days. Guess I’m just an old “VolCel”’ who could care less about squeezing juice anymore.

I also can’t speak for Incels , but it seems to me that just because a guy has a difficult time finding a sex partner doesn’t mean he feels entitled to sex with women. Wishing you had something you don’t, isn’t the same as feeling entitled to it.

You have no idea? What does it mean in practice, do you not know what to say? Or do you just get anxious? Because I just treat women without thinking too much about it. It's not like it's a chess game where you think through x variations. It's just an interaction.

Interacting with women in a socially acceptable way is literally so easy I’ve never had to consciously think about. That is the opinion of nearly every man I know.

Either every women you interact is a psycho or you’re doing something wrong and you know what they say about what is happening when everyone you meet is an asshole…

[–]thelordwynter 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[+]LiquidDreamtime -8 points-7 points-6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Incels are not Volcels. That’s an entirely different situation. Being asexual or having a low libido is fine. That’s not what we’re talking about.

If you’re not an incel, what’s the problem? Or do you just really like Elliot Rodger?

[–]thelordwynter 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The point is that trolls like you can rot. The only thing your two brain cells can come up with when you find the wherewithal to rub them together are thinly veiled insults that attempt to sound innocent.

[–]TheSoviet_Onion 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I saw a post some time ago which collected all the mass murders by incels in like the last 20 years and there were like just a handful of attacks and deaths. The continent of Europe had zero women killed by incels in the last decade.

Compare this number to the amount of women murdered by their husbands, boyfriends, ex-boyfriends and hook ups.

A woman is like a hundred thousand times more likely to be killed by her husband than a random internet incel.

[–]LiquidDreamtime -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So you’re defending incels because they haven’t killed that many people? I don’t understand your point.

[–]TheSoviet_Onion 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Among men incels are the ones who are probably the least likely to kill women since they probably have less interaction with women.

And yes of course I do defend incels when they face false demonisation over individual acts. Keep in mind that there has historically been feminist bomb strikes as well.

Trying to paint the incel movement as some kind of violent group is just a way to silence men from discussing their problems.

[–]LiquidDreamtime -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Mechanik_J 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So let me get this straight. Incels claim that women shame, and verbally/mentally attack them. And here Olivia Wilde tries to shame and verbally/mentally attack incels? I thought feminism was about an understanding between people, but I guess it's just about bullying people.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Always was. Feminism is just the mean girls from high school looking for an excuse for their terrible behaviour and shocking life choices. It’s their only coping mechanism whilst dealing with undiagnosed mental disorders. I genuinely think they need help. Professional.

In Don’t Worry Darling, Pine plays Frank, the founder of the suspicious utopian community at the core of the film – and Peterson was a major inspiration for the character.

[–]Amazing-Bit6140 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Which is hilarious, because his facination with nazi's is about how to prevent the ideology from spreading and rising again.

You can't bury the past and hope to learn from it, if i recall correctly, he collects socialist memorabilia specifically as a reminder of the atrocities it causes.

Imagine calling a person like that a nazi. Should be criminal.

[–]Angryasfk 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Nazi, like “incel” is just a term of abuse for a lot of people. Trouble is it means they can’t identify a real one when it comes along.

[–]Amazing-Bit6140 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

While also encouraging actual nazi's

By defining political opponent as nazi's, you're normalizing being a nazi just for disagreeing with you, and at some people people are going to think "...maybe nazi's aren't that bad, if all the not crazy people i listen to keep being called nazi's."

It's both stupid and counterproductive

[–]cedal_lito 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I also wonder a lot why men have their valued reduced their ability to have sex with women.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Definitely interesting to observe and think critically about this. Women judge men's attractiveness mostly on things they are born with and/or can't change. And they also mock men who do not have those things. Yet somehow, society at large looks at that situation and blames the men for failing to reach women's expectations instead of blaming women for their awful treatment of men simply because they were BORN WRONG. Does no one else realize how fucked that is?

[–]TheSoviet_Onion 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, and most feminists would get furious if you were to for example shame racial minorities for being poor.

[–]nyarlathotep999 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You ever notice how feminists, on the one hand, will criticize men through caricature as being oversexed neanderthals, but, on the other hand, will call any man who they disagree with an incel? Its almost as if sex is the measure of the value of men by feminists, and isn't that sexual objectification?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When you look into the crux of the matter it becomes so obvious it is laughable. It is their only hold over men. Their only leverage other than subterfuge of which they are great at naturally. Normal women don’t go around attacking men as hominem for fun unless provoked. Feminists love to man bash. It’s their only talking point. As if men are to blame for their miserable m, wretched lives.

Heh, it's funny to watch people melt down over Jordan Peterson.

He is an academic in the truest, most pure sense of the word.

I get that a lot of folks don't like him, but I think a lot of folks are used to academics who aren't worthy of the title because they have become sellouts and compromised their intellectual discipline and indeed their intellectual honesty in order to be widely "liked" by the uneducated and ignorant people behind the whole social justice/woke movement.

Above all else, Peterson is a person who cares about people - ALL people - and lately, he's been a huge advocate for people that are at risk of being marginalized in the name of woke collectivism.

For the record, gentlemen - that's US - those males who don't belong to any particular "minority collective".

Those of you who want to say Peterson is a jerk or has done or said this or that nasty thing, are going to need to show me proof that he said whatever thing in the context that you're implying it was said in before I will believe you. Otherwise, I'll just assume you're some sort of idealogue who is ignorant of what he is actually about and just bandwagoning with other ignorant or malicious idealogues.

[–]dylanx300 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Alright, I’ll give you a good example. I’d like to note right off the bat, before folks jump to wrong conclusions, I’m a centrist and primarily base my views on logic. I rely on factual information as much as possible to reinforce my views or change them if I am wrong. I fully understand the negative impacts of wokeism and favoring political correctness over meaningful discourse. That’s all to say, I’m no blue haired liberal.

But I’m not a conservative either. The definition of that word is “averse to change or innovation and holding traditional values.” That’s also not me. Peterson is a conservative by ideology and a psychologist by education. I am an economist by education. I have an economics and finance degree, but weather and climate modeling is something I got particularly interested in a few years ago, back when I was trading natural gas futures more than any other asset (it tanked from 2018-2020 and I was shorting every run up during that decline). My former finance professor was once a gas trader for Citigroup and taught me most of what I know.

Changes in weather forecasts play a pretty huge role in determining /NG price changes in the short and intermediate-term (see: heating degree days), and climate models describe longer-term factors that also influence weather patterns. I think you know where I’m going with this, but Peterson’s climate comments on Rogan’s podcast were absolutely moronic. I understand that to a layperson his comments may sound reasonable (compounding errors, modeling “everything”), but they simply are not. There’s good reason why true academics (& none of them were psychologists) in those fields called out his baseless comments very shortly after the podcast aired.

Peterson clearly does not understand the distinction between a weather forecast and climate models, and yet he’s a “pure academic?” Nah, sorry. Pure academics at least do the slightest bit of research before they make public comments regarding a field or issue they know nothing about. Not our psychologist friend JP, he preferred to not research anything, making himself look stupid to anyone who knows the slightest bit about climate modeling. To me, and to many others familiar with this type of modeling, his comments came across as “I don’t understand this topic, therefore it’s all a bunch of nonsense.” He could hardly have been more incorrect.

One of the best quotes I saw, from a PhD oceanographer who also understands these models:

[Peterson’s] argument is like saying we can’t predict whether a pot of water on a flame will boil, because we decide in advance what variables to put in our model, and can’t predict each bubble.

That’s exactly right. All Peterson has to do is look back to the 60s and 70s, when researchers and companies like Exxon came up with some of the first climate models, and he would see that they’ve been pretty fucking accurate the whole time. The slightest bit of research would have hinted to him that his assumptions are misguided at best and completely idiotic at worst, but he couldn’t be bothered to do that. Some academic. He came to a conclusion first, and then attempted to support his conclusion with utter nonsense. The vast majority of the people calling JP an academic are not academics themselves. In many cases, JP forms his views in ways that are completely unacademic, as I illustrated above.

Like I said, I’m always willing to change my view. So if you really don’t believe that this is accurate, I’m happy to hear your side of things and your opinion. But the fact is that climate models are indeed pretty accurate even decades into the future, and that’s not at all the same as predicting the weather. We don’t know if it will be cloudy in St. Louis on sept 3 2023—but we know damn fucking well that humans will be pumping CO2 and other greenhouse gasses until that date, and that is a number that is pretty easy to predict with a very high degree of accuracy. Stochasticity is probably the most relevant term here, and weather models involve a much higher degree of stochasticity than climate models. The cloud prediction example is a very simple illustration explaining why climate models are much more accurate than weather forecasts. To conflate the two is Peterson being moronic, or otherwise completely disingenuous. Either way, he’s far from a “pure academic.”

Unpopular Opinion: Jordan Peterson needs to stay in his lane. He isn’t an expert in everything. He’s a clinical psychologist, not a physician, a sociologist, or a philosopher.

This happens to smart people who think their narrow field of expertise applies to everything. When Peterson talks about what he knows, he’s pretty good. When he wanders off to pontificate on stuff he isn’t qualified to talk about, he doesn’t sound nearly as smart.

I care about Peterson’s opinion on philosophy as much as I care about Olivia Wilde’s opinion on feminism and Aaron Rodgers’ opinion on vaccines. They’re famous for other stuff, not because they’re renowned experts in a variety of serious fields of study.

[–]Foxsayy -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Jordan Peterson is indeed a pseudo-intellectual, but I don't know that he deserves to be lumoe din entirely with incels either.

[–]Angryasfk 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

He is an intellectual. He was a genuine Professor of Psychology. Better than many of these bogus “gender studies” things floating around surely.

We don’t have to agree with him, and here’s the point: you don’t have to listen to him either. Perhaps if feminists and “the woke” weren’t so set on continually denigrating the male of the species he’d have less of a following.

[–]Foxsayy -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I need to make a post on him sometime. Dude was taking about being a strong, self-sufficient man while he was better crippling benzo addiction, which was so bad that he eventually put himself into a medical coma in Russia. Later he made a video about how the hookup culture is harmful, with his daughter, who was hanging out with a popular YouTube Pick Up Artist during his stay in russia.

When he debates, he refuses to Define terms, and sometimes dodges the question on what he actually means by word for over an hour.

He seems to have disagreements on global warming, biology, and a host of other things he's not an expert in but nevertheless speaks as if he were. He does not have a grass but how far his expertise extends, and therefore because of that and his hypocrisy, I cannot trust him even within his own field anymore.

[–]Angryasfk 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look the fact he didn’t follow his own advice is not very edifying. Indeed it’s a warning.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That’s called circumlocution and he does that because he knows every little thing he says will be used out of context as a sound bite.

[–]Foxsayy -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

. 1. No sound byte that came out of the definition he finally gave could be used to great detriment out of confesf _ _

. 2. It was good faith debate, with someone Peterson respected (Sam Harris), and they were trying to have more of a conversation than a debate. If he can't say what he means here, where can he? Are we supposed to guess at how he redefines words? _ _

. 3. He's a public figure, and fancies himself a public intellectual, philosopher, or communicator. If you cannot or will not define a single word over the course of an hour and a half, in a long-form conversation, where you can take as much time as you need, then you have no place being a public intellectual.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought you meant in general not a specific interview, apologies. In general I would say he is careful with his words, as most public speakers are/should be. It’s so easy for the moronic left to take things out of context and use them as ammunition.

Not every take by a women is wrong because a woman has it. Sure Olivia Wilde isn't gr8, but her stance on this matter is on point.

JP has started propagating anti-trans , anti lgbtq propaganda recently and he's on that fascist right wing influencer money train that Joe Rogan is on.

So so much so that he is now on DAILY WIRE along with ppl like Shapiro, Walsh and Rubin.

JP is literally calling women ugly and unattractive, promoting religion and we as MRAs are suppose to pass that?

Wilde is a piece of work... buy JP is a piece of shit..

I don't get how ppl on this sub think right wing ideology that asserts strict gender roles for men and women is going to help MRAs... ppl like Jordon are for men doing traditional jobs and roles and having traditional responsibilites...How do we win by supporting these boomer fuckwads??

[–]CawlinAlcarz 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not even going to pretend to know what "dead naming tans men" even means & I really don't care about this woke nonsense. Probably just referring to how he called Elliot Page by "his" original name, in a sentence that required him to use female pronouns/names. He's used people's prefered pronouns/names for years. You are an absolute fucking moron, sir.

Calling women ugly? You mean how he called out a morbidly obese woman "not beautiful" (objectively true) when she was on the cover of a magazine? Cry me a river. EVERYONE knows that's not "pretty" by any healthy standard. That's not the same as calling women "ugly", you lying buffoon.

Gender affirming doctors deserve to be put under scrutiny, especially when they push the pro-transitioning practice in spite of all the research on its long term health effects. He's said repeatedly in the past that transitioning might be "okay" for SOME individuals, so to suggest that he takes issue with all trans-people & the doctors who "aid" in that proces is a categorical lie.

Promoting Christianity (which he never explicitly did) is now equal to "fascism"? Lol. I'm not even religious & in fact I think all religions are hilariously retarded. But to use that as proof that he's a fascist who wants to send men to war & bring back "traditional gender roles" (he's NEVER SAID THAT, not even remotely), is absolutely ludicrous beyond comprehension. It's pathetic & grossly dishonest.

And to whine about Joe Rogan being on that "right wing influencer money"... LOL... You mean, Joe "I'm a socialist who loves Bernie Sanders" Rogan... THAT guy??? Obscene stupidity on display here.

Crawl back to that pathetic anti-male feminist "MensLib" sub where you fucking belong, mate.

calling gender affirming doctors "butchers"

I feel the exact same way.... if I took my son to get a face tattoo at 10 years old. They'd probably have me arrested, but it's the kids "decision" if his feminist mom convinces him he's really a Disney Princess.....

They're butcherer's to me, what kids do after 18 isn't so much an issue to me. Before that kids are very vulnerable to manipulation. They should be protected it's the only reasonable thing society can do.

It's incredible how out of touch some people have to be. Don't use the word "fascism" with the meaning "everything that I hate". It's an exact ideology with it's doctrines - a form of extreme sindicalism.

Its incredible how this sub has become a refuse for sociopath men that literally will defend all sorts of vile behavior and views put forward by other sociapathic men as long as there is a woman speaking out against it...

[–]Lamare962 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Ok, I will be kind. What's your problem with JP? He isn't a sociopath, that's a mental illness. Calling him like that you're being ableist - don't be like that. Calling him a fascist you sign in the paper about your incompetente in political matters. Peterson is anything but a fascist. The woman is just demonizing him and painting a picture that is not real about him. What's your problem exactly?

[–]sunlitekid01 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

I don't think you follow JP enough to understand my issue with him. Simply put he is a shill. A "professor" who played the victim of"woke culture", recruited closeted right wing sympathizer, made his millions and told ppl how to live while simultaneously loosing EVERY SINGLE intellectual debate publicly. Then turns out he was battling his own demons...while telling you ur demons aren't reall. Then when the gravy train stopped, he went to a right wing media outlet known for promoting anti ltbtq views and recently bieng responsible for the bomb threat on Boston hospital for children. He is having public mental breakdowns in the form of spontaneous crying fits. Calling doctors murderers, women ugly.. and you guys think he's a MRA hero.. talk about having you head up your ass. Like I said this sub is borderingling incel behavior.. which ironically proves Olivia Wildes point about JP.. Half the ppl commenting here are commenting against anything and everything women say cuz.. you..know "feminist" and defend the worst public figures from our times.

[–]Lamare962 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

I wached some videos with him, a few interviews and the famous debate. Nothing really bothered me. And about that, you find it healthy to follow so closely someone that you don't like so much?

Simply put he is a shill

What an argument.

A "professor" who played the victim of"woke culture",

He is the victim of the woke culture, it's not something that he tries to pain himself into. He was harassed all the time when he was a professor, remind me how many times did the mob tried to make him lose his job?

recruited closeted right wing sympathizer

Like being right wing is something bad. Get some better arguments. I understand that for your fellow leftists the fact that he is right wing is already a crime and makes him worse than Hitler, but seriously, try something better.

made his millions and told ppl how to live while simultaneously loosing EVERY SINGLE intellectual debate publicly.

Exactly how he lost in his famous interview with the blonde old woman and in his debates with Zizek?

Then turns out he was battling his own demons...while telling you ur demons aren't reall.

Even if you tried you couldn't say a bigger lie. All of Peterson's career is made on trying to help young men with their mental and emotional challenges. He never said anything like "your problems aren't real/don't matter". That's the opposite of Peterson that you're describing right now. He was the voice that was understanding and really tried to help. And yes, he had his mental problems, that somehow should make him a bad person?

he went to a right wing media outlet known for promoting anti ltbtq views

"Promoting anti lgbt views" meaning that he said men are men and women are women. Cool. Next.

and recently helping facility the bomb threat on Boston hospital for children.

I don't know anything about that's but judging from how biased you were towards him before that I am almost sure that this is not true.

He is having public mental breakdowns in the form of spontaneous crying fits

Assuming that this is true, that's something bad because? You are incredibly bigoted towards someone with a mental illness. Not really nice if you ask me. Not nice universally, whether you're right wing or left wing - making fun about someone's mental health is not ok.

Calling doctors murderers

When they perform abortions that's what they are for him. They unjustly take the life of a human being. You can be pro choice and say that he is wrong, but that's a debate in itself, you can't act like he is unreasonable when he says that

Calling women ugly..

And the problem is? Not like you all don't call him in any possible way. You call call him a fascist, idiot, shill, i don't know what else but he can't call a women that he finds ugly that she is ugly? (And not even ugly, I remember the case and he used the word "unattractive". Unironically he is much more tolerant and reasonable with words than you all who criticize him) You can't be serious, that has to be trolling.

and you guys think he's a MRA hero

I still didn't hear anything bad about him that wouldn't need me to already hate him just because he is right wing or he isn't a feminist.

talk about having you head up your ass.

I will leave that here for anyone reasonable to judge for themselves.

Like I said this sub is borderingling incel behavior..

Calling men that they can't have sex. How is that any way better than calling women you don't like "sluts"? Your lack of self awareness here is concerning.

Half the ppl commenting here abs commenting against anything and everything women say cuz.. you..know "feminist" and defend the worst public figures from our times.

When a woman says something wrong don't act surprised when people here don't agree with her.

[–]sunlitekid011 points 3 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

[–]Lamare962 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]Angryasfk 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lost every single debate did he? In your “completely unbiased” opinion you mean!

You seem to be absolutely obsessed with JP.

And oh he’s a Christian therefore is a fascist. I guess you see MLK as a fascist then, and Jessie Jackson, and Albert Schweitzer, and William and Catherine Booth.

Seriously man, “clean your room” (ie get the things in your life you can control in order before you’re ready to deal with outside stuff) is sound advice. The clear criticism is that he didn’t follow his own advice when facing a major personal crisis (it cost him though, probably showing that he should have done what he told others to do).

[–]domnulsta 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You really have to check what a fascist is. I mean, if you're going to call him a fadcist for those, I will call American leftists communists. I do agree he went down in quality over time, but there is a long way from what he's doing to fascism.

[–]DannyBeisbol 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Nothing, but having an opinion on gender politics when you’ve never spoken to a woman is hilarious

[–]Reddit-person-321 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

A: If there's nothing wrong with being a virgin why did you use the word as an insult or at least in a negative way?

B: Being a virgin means that you never had sex. You do realize that it's possible to be someone that never had sex and still talk to women right? In fact I think it's safe to say that most people who never had sex have definitely talked to women. You can even enter a romantic relationship with some women and be a virgin. It's also possible to never have talked to a woman and also not be a virgin.

C: Peterson rhetoric does not automatically equal gender politics. Not a fan of him (personally I'm mostly neutral about him) but there are plenty of things he teaches about that has nothing to do with gender politics.

[–]DannyBeisbol 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

When did I say or imply that Peterson's fanbase having 'insufferable virgins" in it wasn't relevant to the discussion? Also keep in mind that you originally didn't say "insufferable virgins". You just said virgins. Implying that being a virgin in and of itself is bad.
