What I don't understand is identity politics and being a one issue voter. A lot of issues we have today, my parents being part of the problem when they voted for G.W. back in the day, where a candidate can be made or broken based on a single stance.

Here are some safe comfortable jobs dominated by women (teacher, office manager, human resources, nurses, cashier, retail sales, bartenders and waitresses, first line managers, customer service, child care, bookkeeping and accounting, receptionists) Most of these jobs pay as much or more than a roofer, guess which are top 10 dangerous jobs.

Let me list a few of the most dangerous jobs on the planet and you show me how they all make so much more because of the danger.

Lumberjack, deep sea fishermen, bush pilot, miner, personal transportation driver, sanitation worker, metal crafter, mechanic, slaughter house worker, bodyguard, roofer, firefighter, farmer, linemen, couriers, carpenters.

In my experience, I would try to due the heavy lifting and dangerous shit in exchange for the ladies doing disgusting things I didn't want to.

The goal should be to reduce female hysteria, not emulate it.

The goal should be to have equal protection under law for all people. Your approach will not achieve that.

The pointing out of hypocrisy is necessary, but so is the demands for equal enforcement of the law.

I think the law is absurdist in many ways, having gone way over the line of reasonable protection. But that's irrelevant. Until it's equally enforced, we aren't going to see change. And even when it is equally enforced, we might not see change, but we might see a form of equality.

EDIT: Changed "both genders" to "all people" since that is what I intended. I also don't really pay enough attention to the multi-gender thing to fully grasp the taxonomy of what phrasing I could have used. Genders is social and sexes is biological - that's my understanding but I don't really care, since I believe every human should have the same protections regardless of what they identify as.

Sure getting smacked in the butt is probably not going to ruin your life. But I'd argue getting your genitals fondled by a much older person would probably leave you with lasting scars or affect the way you come to view people who appear like your attacker. Some of this stuff can leave lasting damage. And how affected people will be is going to vary depending on the individual and their life history. Someone who was raped as a child is going to be a lot more sensitive to having their ass smacked than someone who grew up having a normal childhood.

But these things can be "real problems". Just because there are people currently being tortured in other countries, doesn't mean you don't have the right to complain if someone punches you in the face. You're effectively making the point that no one can ever be a victim of any crime so long as they are greater crimes being committed elsewhere. Its silly.

I've presented several distinct arguments, perhaps your reading comprehension is lacking so I will distill them down to bullet points for easier consumption.

Greater crimes being committed elsewhere does not mean smaller crimes should be ignored.
People vary in their reaction to certain actions depending on their life experiences and psychological history.

Quite frankly, to be consistent, every guy who has ever had his ass grabbed by a girl in high school should be screaming bloody murder and getting all of those women arrested or fired from their jobs.

It seems that men's attitudes are that it's okay if you do it to her, because you don't give a shit if she does it to you. No harm done. And women's attitudes are, it's the end of the world as we know it if he did it to me, but it's totally like fun and stuff if I do it to him.

No, I think what you are being told is that the media is creating a massive Puritanical moral panic right now. You've got cases where some left-wing senator tried to steal a kiss from a indiscrete sex worker 20 years ago and now that sex worker is a right-wing 'journalist' so she just drops this tidbit for the media and poof, the entire left-wing political establishment gets played. Fuck the balance of power in the senate, fuck democracy for 320 million people, what matters most is one lady's feelings and a completely unsubstantiated story.

I believe that a lot of the scandals are probably true. Some of them probably even amount to actual rape or child molestation. And the double standard that exists there has to be eliminated. Well, I had a girl grab my crotch from behind (while I was doing dishes in the commons room of my dorm) when I was about 18, and to be honest I wish I had done something about it at the time. I was shocked speechless as it happened and I instinctively knocked her hand away, then figured it didn't bother me, until I started having trouble sleeping. Then I started avoiding going out of my room in case I might run into her (she was on my floor). Then I had my grades drop significantly. It continued to affect me like that for several weeks (perhaps a month).

I finally found a way through it on my own, and I can say now that it was an important lesson and I gained a lot of strength from my eventual actions in response. Still, even though it would not have been taken seriously because of the double standards, I wish I'd just reported it as the assault that it was. Even though no one in authority would have seen me as a victim, I would have at least spoken up about it.

As a female, I would be totally uncomfortable with those actions. I don't think it's hysterical to protect basic physical boundaries. However, no, I would not track them all down and make their lives miserable. In the context you mention, I would assume that those boys had grown into men and know what respecting boundaries is, and I probably would not remember their names anyways.

Boys have been conditioned from birth to understand that sexual attention is a rarity for them, and undeserved. So of course, most boys are going to almost savor every moment they get such attention, or ignore it if it makes them uncomfortable (because it's now seen as "good" thing for boys who have been conditioned with no sexual attention). Girls are conditioned to understand that sexual attention is almost granted, and it is liberally given, which means that it's going to be a nuisance for most girls, and in many cases it will cause psychological issues. Most humans need sexual attention in any case, we just have an awful distribution as it is. I have no problems with a guy hitting on me, or even making respectful comments about my appearance on the street (eg. "You're beautiful/hot/sexy" is OK, whereas "nice tits/ass/I wanna fuck you/" is not OK), and similarly I have no problems giving such compliments to men. I think this is a good, moderate way to handle the sexual component of a culture.

What we have now is... Weird, and seems manufactured.

edit: The whole "you don't deserve sexual attention" thing for boys is also psychologically damaging.

Yeah it varies by state to state here in the US.

Listen I'm all about smashing double standards when it comes to sexual misconduct between men and women. But what I wish to avoid is resorting to the same illogical nonsense that academic feminists will resort to when they cant put forth a solid argument.

What matters in sexual assault cases is whether the victim feels as though they have been assaulted. Its the same standard we use in regular assault cases. If my friend and I get in a drunken brawl and we both consented to the fight, no assault has occurred. If my friend punched me in the head out of nowhere and I didn't want him to, assault has occurred.

Whether Mr Bieber here was assaulted or not depends entirely on whether or not he was felt assaulted by her actions. If he does feel he has been wrong, then she should face the appropriate punishment. But if he couldn't care less... why should we generate outrage and a culture of victimhood, the very thing people here love to rally against?
