No one comes to a subreddit to troll and survives very long. It’s exhausting. Constantly downvoted, argued with, dismissed, etc.

I’d like to believe that many of them might be here pretending to troll for their own ego-sake, but deep down has some doubts about feminism. Imagine living your life aligned with a doctrine and dogma that, over time, doesn’t seem to fit with what you’re observing in reality.

“If men are so terrible and toxic, why am I attracted to dominant and masculine men?”

“If men are the reason for my oppression, why is it that it’s mostly women that are catty and backstabbing towards me, and men generally are treating me with respect and kindness?”

“If men are oppressors, why are they the only ones defending women in trans athletes unfairly competing in women sports?”

But the thing about truth is, you don’t need to spin it. It’s consistent no matter what angle you look at it. Feminism has to rationalize, spin, shame, and censor to have success. Truth just has to be spoken and it’ll naturally gain attention.

Because some see men’s rights as a direct opposition to the women’s rights/feminist movement (which is not the case). It is a movement that is parallel to the women’s rights movement, and mutually beneficial. We must acknowledge that not all people see it as a direct opposition though.

To anyone who is feminist or from feminist subreddits, lurking in this subreddit:

Both exist as a response to hardship that specifically affect men or women. The men’s right movement is not a victim one-upping contest or an attempt to invalidate/discourage feminist discourse (discourse is great, it’s needed), it’s a “Hey this sucks too and it also needs attention” movement.

Those who are banning people who are in r/mensrights are actively widening the gap of understanding, creating animosity and shutting down productive conversation between two groups who face wildly different problems. AKA, making things worse. If any movement wants to be understood and heard, they need to be better than how the rest of society treats them.

All good people deserve to have their voices and rights. Including women, including men, including trans people or people who identify themselves in other ways.

So please, be kind and be open.

In all seriousness though, they cannot defend their position so they ban any opposition. It doesn't always happen but there have been a few feminists who change their mind about feminism simply from talking to an MRA (e.g. Cassie Jaye). This is why feminists also discourage others from talking to us by spreading falsehoods and propaganda.

And ever since then, I have this crazy feminist who's stalking me online, calling me an "asshole" and a "dickhead" over chat, and leaving snide responses on nearly every single one of my comments on any sub, including comments that I've made over a year ago. And this isn't the first time this has happened to me either.

For the guys that have been downright abused and used, it can be frustrating to post your thoughts in what you think is a safe group, only to have your post removed and or banned. I have personally been completely wiped out both financially and emotionally “3 times in a row”, so I don’t have anything good to say about women these days. That being said, my mom never hurt me, and neither has my daughter. I feel bad for anyone that has been abused by a woman, I hate that our society and legal system accepts and allows this to continue and I really do wish you could vent without feminist MODs or sympathizers stopping you from being able to vent! Maybe there should be a “woman hater group”, and I don’t mean that sarcastically!!!

Virtue by example. We need to be what we ask of others. This is a sign of strength. We are not afraid of letting feminists come in, because we know we can defend our ideas against them. They are afraid of doing the same because they defend the status quo, so they never learnt how to defend their ideas. They only know how to censor the ones they disagree with. That is why you don't see many posts here by them, only some, very sparse, comment. Because they aren't stupid enough to not notice how they couldn't defend their ideas in a real debate, so they avoid it.

So they do what they know. Lurk, stark, maybe make some captures here and there and then take them somewhere where they can attack you in a group where you can't retaliate nor engage in one on one. What you must learn is that feminism is about claiming virtues but not engaging in them. They claim to be strong and independent but they don't want to pay the price of that, nor make that effort, so their tactic is gaslight everyone into saying that they are already like that and bully and ostrazice anyone who says otherwise. They are not capable of defending feminism, because defending feminism with reason is against feminism itself, because it would require for feminists to acquire a virtue in order to claim they have it. So they "don't need to be more reasonable, they are already more reasonable, you are unreasonable". And they "don't need to defend feminism, feminism is already true, you are wrong for not being feminist".

That is why they want to destroy this sub or the possibility of it. Because our existance forces them to try to be virtous. Forces them to need to learn how to defend their ideas. And they will not, ever, want to do that, as long as they are feminists.

And they know that is a problem. Because, the very moment they try to look at data, reason and talk with us, you know what happens. They cross sides. They abandon feminism.

Feminism is a religious doctrine, a cult. Some day, maybe, people will realize. But, until then, we must keep holding on and being our best selves.

Depends what you mean by feminist. My feminism is all about women and men being equal in terms of worth, albeit different. I'm not as physically strong as a man because I'm short, slight and female but I'm of equal worth as a human being. Feminism originally was "the radical notion that women are people" and that's my Feminism. There are many places around the world where this Feminism is still badly needed.

Some feminists (the libfem types) are crazies giving us all a bad name.

There are many of us who join subs like this one to have a well-rounded perspective and understand how some men are feeling. It's useful to know how a lot of men feel about women who have harmed them in some way and is a good talking point for me and my husband.

This is me, NOT living in an echo chamber and trying to understand the opposite sex better. We're not all out to destroy you, I promise. However it may seem that way, we're not.

I think this is the natural response to the conditions. The group in power, with more mainstream acceptance is generally always going to opt for censorship, whereas the less popular positions are generally more in favor of "open and honest debate". This is just how humans are built, and we've seen it go back and forth in many different walks of life.

I don't care that you think they're trolling or that they aren't willing to change their minds, that's not the point. The point is to convince the peanut gallery, and if all visitors see of us when curiosity brings them here is hostility without actual arguments and bannings and censorship, it doesn't paint us in a good light. I wish MRAs were above it, because when we do actually engage in arguments with feminists we tend to kick butt.

Most comments in here misrepresent femminist spaces by at least a mile: they are hateful, ban simple conversations, they are unfair against men, female supremacist, etc. None of this are true and when asked to show examples, everyone fails to do so.

So, to start, are feminists against men? No. Do they defend men's rights? It depends, if the context of the right is that of patriarchy, no, they won't defend rights perceived as priviledge. Do they support men? Yes, absolutely, patriarchy not only damages women, but also men, so they do take time to respond and help if men have genuine concerns and good faith questions.

Then, why do they ban men who participate in their spaces? One reason might be a separatist space (one where men aren't allowed), wich is in their right to do so. Another reason might be because of trolling, attacking or just misrepresenting feminism in bad faith (as we have so so many examples right here).

I'm a regular at r/AskFeminists, I participate in conversations, read comments and rarely have seen someone banned or some comment deleted for the wrong reasons. If you yourself have been banned from some of this spaces, you should ask yourself what you did first. If you feel the ban is unjustified, you can always ask the mods, as they are really respectful and very open.

If this comment gets downvoted or deleted, you are just further proving my point, by the way.
