Men should do their eyebrows for sure. Some men should wear eyeliner. I think getting your beard filled in with makeup should be a thing, too.

Also, go to a good barber and get a line-up.

The point of makeup is supposed to be to look like it isn't makeup. If men mastered that, women wouldn't even know.

i wouldn’t mind if it was natural makeup, but if it’s noticeable or if it’s like a glamorous kind of makeup then i wouldn’t like it (in my eyes, it would lower his smv). no judgement, i just find it unattractive. i prefer a more masculine appearance, and rarely do i see a man wearing noticeable makeup and think he still looks more masculine than androgynous or feminine.

I don't think noticeable makeup increases smv for men.

That said, my brother had bad acne in high school and used to wear concealer to cover it up (that green color correcting stuff). If I hadn't seen him put it on in the morning I never would have known and I doubt any of the girls he went to school with or dated knew either. I think guys could benefit from using subtle stuff like that to cover blemishes, correct discoloration etc. No need to bring it up or let anyone know.

But aside from that, it won't help you unless you're in some niche subculture where that's the look. A guy with rosy cheeks, long dark eyelashes, red lips etc. is not attractive to most women.

For hiding blemishes and the like, sure! Go for it! It would be neither an on/off for me if a dude used concealer to hide a pimple. But more than makeup, I want to encourage guys to do proper skincare. It doesn't need to be a whole routine, just buying face wash/cleanser. And honestly if they're into certain music scenes, guyliner can be pretty hot. Just depends on what kind of look they're going for.

I wear makeup when I go on dates, I think it'd be really cool if my date did too. He doesn't have to wear mascara and lipstick if that's not his thing but if he wants to wear concealer or fill in his eyebrows, that's cool.

As a man, lying about your SMV, be it by lying on statut, money, confidence or look will be heavily punished and shamed by women, wayyyyyyy more harshly than the other way around. So yes it would increase SMV as it increase look but it should be never ever discover otherwise the incoming backlash will have the opposite rffect.

Healthy, hydrated skin will always do wonders for any person so skincare is probably your best bet.

I think it's dumb to reduce someone down to "SMV" honestly, and folks that pick up that term don't come across as down to earth. So to start with, if you're using the term or rating system "SMV", that's unattractive alone. Most people aren't as shallow as y'all. Most people don't pick apart their partner's attributes and decide a pimple ruins the mood for sex that day. Most people choose their partners based on a myriad of compatibilities, practical traits/lifestyle most important, weight and height less important. I know that's hard to fathom when you spend so much time with people you share an ideology with.

And again, most people are turned off by men wearing makeup. It's just how cultures are, unless you're part of a third-world tribe.

I think everyone should use makeup. I dated a model for a bit and he definitely took good care of his skin and wore a bit some days- not a lot, very natural and just enough to clean up. I highly recommend it

Ive been hearing more and more women voicing their opinion that they would prefer or at least be intrigued by men who take better care of themselves but not with makeup but with a good skincare regiment or something.

But I have to ask, like how do you imagine a guy using makeup to look better? You mean to hide blemishes or even out skin texture and color? Or do you mean to accentuate features like women do so like to bring out the jaw and eyebrows or something like that.

Also I am not sure how average women would react. Do women in general like this? I think older women would have a totally different opinion than younger women, or am I wrong?

Personally I don't think using makeup for dating would go well, instead of have a skincare/grooming regiment that I follow from shampoo, conditioner, for my hair and scalp and scented body scrub to exfoliate my skin and I use facial cleanser on my face and beard wash for my stubble then just facial lotion a tiny bit of beard oil to keep the skin under my stubble healthy too. Plus I feel and smell hella good afterward.

I have no problem with men wearing makeup. In your example, of minimal makeup to cover blemishes - I know so many guys with really uneven skin tone or big visible pores etc and literally the tiniest wee bit of colour corrector or porefessional could balance it out if they wanted. The alternative would be actually looking after their skin - I like when a guy cleans his face and moisturizes.

I also like more flamboyant makeup on men too though. I really like when people do something a bit unexpected with their style; androgyny, gender bending etc. I had a huge crush on Frank N. Furter when I saw rocky horror the first time 🤣 and of course a wee bit of guyliner goes a long way.

I think at first I would be like hmm but tbh after the initial shock (for example when I first found kpop, I was so anti boy group because I thought it was too femme/ weird) it kinda made me look better in my eyes that they wanted to look good and put in the effort.

Day to day basis, a tinted moisturizer is fine. My ex had concealer to cover up pimples and stuff, also no big deal.

Men have thicker skin and bigger pores, plus hair...too much foundation looks more obvious. Skincare is key here, for men and women, but men tend to do so much less that they can really stand out if they start early. Men tend to also have thicker brows and eyelashes, no mascara needed. Taking care of eyebrows is a huge game changer, and doesn’t require any makeup. Having overly plucked girly brows is overboard...but a little cleanup can do wonders. And we women know that it takes some time and practice to get it right even now, shaping my my brows for 30 years, I still don’t always get it perfectly symmetrical.

Eyeliner is for costume parties. Blush, shadow, highlight, or lipstick is a big NO. Tinted chapstick is fine altho only if they absolutely need to.

Well, men could pay more attention to look sharp. Styled hair, gym workout, good clothes, deodorant, good skincare, good shave. Little makeup? Why not. Even if they got plastic surgery or something.

I mean, we should all work on inner beauty but I'm not judging anyone for focusing on their looks.

I've always been into the rockstars with eyeliner and the k-pop guys with make-up. So yeah, I think it can look hot tbh. Either way, nothing wrong with using foundation and stuff to enhance your looks. If women can do it, why can't men?
