If you read the lyrics it just seems like another generic "I'm rich and famous and I have sex with different women in different countries" song as opposed to what the passport bro movement actually is.

It reminds me of how terms like "based" or "simp" get adopted by mainstream culture and watered down from their original context/meaning on the internet.

Passport bro is literally just the black version of white men going overseas to places such as thailand, its always been a thing. For example, EXPAT's is ONE OF the white version of 'passport bros'

But in a couple of years, the name will change again and then it might be the hispanics turn for 'passport bro'

I never really had problems with guys dating girls from other countries. The only concern I have is that here's a higher probability of the relationship being exploitive because that happens whenever there are really desperate people. In developed countries there are also desperate people, but it can only go so bad because of good social safety nets.

But if it's going to happen, I would prefer more people to know about it. Generally anything that can potentially be abusive or sketchy is better when it's brought into a spotlight. This way the women in other countries would have a better idea on the intention of foreigners that come to date them are. And in a twisted way, the more people that try to date them, the more options they have, which in turn will give them multiple paths out of any oppressive situation they're in. It's less likely for a woman in poverty to accept bad treatment from a foreigner with some money if there are 2 foreigners with some money that's offering.

Sex tourism has been a thing most people have at least heard of since before I was born. The only thing that's new is men calling these men "bros" (super cringy but anyway). I'd imagine it will continue and many more people will end up hurt and upset as a result, with still more sitting at home complaining about how all the women in their country suck because they're not desperate enough to be paid to pretend to like them, threatening to leave despite not owning a passport. Men complaining about the women in their countries suck isn't new either, it has happened since the dawn of time. I'd like to say they'll move on and see sense, but I'm nit optimistic.

Men have always dated women from further away, then woman have dated men. And whenever a man found a woman from another neighborhood, town, country, or part of the world, there were always women upset by the fact.

This is why we are seeing consensual relationships between two adults described as sexual predators and victims. This is a conflation of normal behaviour with sex tourism trying to shame men while simultanously infantalizing women.

Most women that are open to relationships with men from another culture are global, open-minded, usually well-educated women. The notion that most women are desperate, barely literate is not based on fact, but prejudice.

The world is becoming more global as distances is shrinking so what there before was a days travel doesn't just get you 40 km away, it gets you around the world. In short people (and women in particular) just have to come to terms with the fact that the world is changing, and intercultural dating will become only more common in the future as old notions of racism, colonialism, and western supremacy becomes gradually less prevalent.

I've traveled a bunch through Latin America due to work and even lived in the DR for a few years and I've noticed a huge uptick of American/European men moving to these countries and marrying the locals and these guys are not broke low class people, the majority of them are professionals with their own businesses that employ locals and pay taxes into these countries.

Which is an important difference from previous generations because these guys are young, prime working age men who are looking for a permanent home, starting their own families and building up their communities, not some old geezers living off retirement and smashing hookers.

As long as everyone is a consenting adult and everyone is treated with respect I think it's great that men (or women) look for love overseas. I also recommend all future passport bros and sisters watch some 90 day fiance so they know how easily it can not work out...and you're stuck financially supporting your ex for a decade. I also implore people to really take bringing a foreigner over seriously, and prepare to be their only support for the culture shock and loss of independence.
