Many men, especially on the manosphere die on a hill, which is that women can’t give dating advise. “don’t ask a fish how to catch fish, ask a fisherman” is a saying often thrown around to justify it. I think a huge reason for this is the fundamental difference in how both genders view ‘advice’.

When you ask a woman for dating advice, it seems to actively run under the assumption that some level of curiosity, at the very least, is present on both ends. The advice is also centered at wanting to actually be with her, something many men who ask for generalized advice, frankly, don’t want.

Many men (especially around the manopshere) who use this analogy and say “women can’t give dating advice” aren’t often looking to date a specific woman or actually be with her, they’re looking to either convince or trick a woman into sleeping with them. The advice comes from a place of watching guys they consider to be successful (ie. guys who sleep around a ton/claim to sleep around a ton) and want to replicate that. The advise lots of these men want isn’t about getting close to or legitimately dating an actual partner, its “how do i use the right bait”
